Avandia/Femara

by wantingbabies, Sep 18, 2007 06:40AM
Hello.  I am new to the forum, but not to ttc.  We have been trying for 5 years.  We have had one mc/d&c at 9 weeks. I have PCOS, but not a typical case according to my doc ( I have the several of the symptoms, but don't have the multiple cysts).   I have tried clomid and metformin and injectibles.  I have had all tests except a laproscopy (my doctor doesn't suspect endometriosis).  This cycle, my RE put me on the combo of Femara and Avandia.  Has anyone heard of this?  Has anyone had any success with these meds?  DH and I are starting to feel defeated.  Any words of encouragement you can offer would be appreciated.

Hi!
I just wanted to say that I have been ttc #1 for about four years (long story) but we have been going to the Re since 3/20/07 when I was finally diagonsed with PCOS.  Before that I had done six rounds of Clomid all BFN's, HSG some blockage (cleared) SA for Dh and excellent results through OB.  Then he referred us to an Re.  The first month we did Metformin alone 1000 mgs, then the second month Femara/Met and my Follicle only developed to 15.5 has to 18mm to trigger so that was canceled.  Thrid cycle I did 2.5 mgs of Femara twice a day and 75 iu of Follistim injections for six day and had four mature folliclies we did and HCG  trigger of Novarel and timed Bd'ing for a week which ended in BFN.  After that cycle I had an extremely bad AF were I had to get some pain meds and the Re wanted me to come in for a consulation appt.  He thought that I had Endo. due to BFN and extremely painful AF so he recommended the Lap surgery and HSG again I didn't want to do because of money, surgery etc.  But I did because I was so confused why my perfect cycle ended in BFN.  Good thing I did because I had an infection that was covering my female parts and blocking my tubes so there was no way I would get preggers on my own that was on 8/15.  Now I am waiting on AF anyday now to start follistim cycle again.  I just wanted to say that something the Lap finds other things besides ENDO.  I was suspected ENDO and had no ENDO just infection that was preventing pregnancy.  Not saying this is the case with you, but the Lap is def. worth advocating for because you never know what could be preventing pregnancy.  I hope this helps and tons of babydust to you!!
