Cardiolipin Antibody BW/Positive-anyone with help??

by lorawill, Jan 04, 2007 12:00AM
I just got my results from my BW done and my Cadiolipin Antibody came back positive for IgM Phospholipid Antibody. My doctor is out of the country right now, but another doctor at the office looked it over and said he wouldn't worry about it. But of course I do. Does anyone have any insight to this? Thanks :)

I would be concerned b/c yes it can cause clots....the antibodies will attack whatever....ususally people with this take baby aspirin and heparin shots.. (daily)...I would ask for a second opinion.... I have read a lot on this b/c I think this is what may be causing my problems.... I also have elevated levels of thyroid antibodies which coincide with this....let me know what you find out..... good luck to you !!!Jacquie

I don't know if this is the same but when I had my last daughter I was quite ill at around 17 weeks they did some blood tests and found I had high liver enzymes. When they did more tests to find out why (it's still a mystery by the way!) they found (completely unrelated) I had elevated levels of anticardiolipin antibodies. I now take a 75mg tablet of (baby aspirin) aspirin every day as apparently it can be connected with clotting disorders (I may clot too easily I think). My daughter was a healthy 7lb 1 oz born at 38 weeks.

I had a missed m/c and D&C on 27th September and continued to take my aspirin (I don't think it had anything to do with the antibodies).

Thank you both. I will be seeing my Doc soon, I have to go in to see her after my Clomid Challenge Test, so I will ask her more questions about it. Until then, maybe I will just start taking a baby asprin to be on the safe side. I am not pregnant right now though, so maybe that is why they aren't as concerned. I will keep you posted to what she says when I see her, which will be around the last week in January depending on when AF comes and when I have my bw.

Thanks again :)
