Clomid Cycle...?

I started on clomid. The doc did bloodwork and said I ovulated, and that I should start the next cycle of Clomid on days 3-7 of my next period...my period hasn't started yet, I'm a week late. I do have some cramping though. The doc said that my cycle should be 28 days. Before the first clomid, she gave me progesterone to start my period, because I am not usually regular. So I guess my question is, if you have had irregular periods before clomid, are your cycles longer than 28 days? and if not, how long do I wait to do HPT? THANKS!!!
