Clomid and multiple large cysts

Hi, I am 23 years old and have been trying to conceive for 13 months now. I went to an infertility doctor and was told I simply do not ovulate every month...so they put me on clomid (200 mg for five nights). After just one month I develop 3 cysts each measuring at about 3 inches in diameter. The doctor said come back next month. Does that mean my cysts should go away within a month? Should I do anything to help them dissipate? Can I still ovulate and get pregnant with the cysts on m ovary? Please help.

They started you on 200 mg right off the bat??  I have never heard of that, I have always heard that they start you on 50mg and then build you up each month to find the dose that works best for you.  There may be situations that apply to you that I have not heard of before though. Are the cysts causing you pain? I beleive that they usually wait and see if they go away on their own beore taking more drastic measures.  Hoepfully they go away on their own to spare you more pain and trouble.

HI, In my experience in all of this so far, I had to skip 2 months (not consecutively) of using the meds b/c cysts developed.  I know with follistim this is a normal side affect.  I had to skip a month each time I got them which stank b/c I reallly wanted to have tried IUI 3 times by summer before I tried IVF.  I only had time for 2 tries before summer.  I have no work in the summer and for IVF you have to see the doctor almost everyday for parts of it and you need a flexible schedule.  
Anyway, you should get another u/s after this month and see if the cysts went away or shrunk up.  I think your clomid dosage may have been too high.  Not sure.

I guess my doctor was an aggressive doctor and I thought 200 mg was high but I'm not the doctor...but now I realize I should speak up. I was just being selfish and thinking well maybe I'll get more than one baby. And yes the cysts do cause me a lot of pain:(

Hello, I have been trying to conceive for about a 1yr. After trying and no success, I went to a infertility specialist and all the test were done and everything was fine. When it came to me having U/S I was dx with PCOS. My periods were irregular in the past, but I never knew why. Come to find out that PCOS can cause that. Of course they started me as low as 25mg of clomid up to 50 mg now. I've been doing this for about 612 months. This final month I was late for my period and had some discomfor as if I was ovulating. After having intercourse I was in a lot of pain afterwards. After going to the Dr.s the next day it was dicovered that a cyst had ruptured and they were not for sure if it was a mature follicle, so they gave me pain med and told me to go home and start having intercourse they also did a progesterone earlier that showed that I did not ovulate. The Dr.wanted another progesterone to be done to see if infact I was ovulating.(Since my body seems to ovulate when it wants) I have a period every 30-32days. Is it possible for me to ovulate this late? And the ruptured cyst was about 3-4 cm in size.

i also think that your doctor should have started you with 50mg first and gradually went up the dosage. growing cysts are common specially with clomid. they do go away on their own most of teh time. dr. told you to come back because now they have to monitor it. if you have pcos , its more common. maybe you do have it thats why youre not ovulating. having a cyst doesnt stop you from getting pregnant. good luck.
