Clomid question

by RayAnn1026, Aug 30, 2008 02:21PM
Hi y'all ^_^ I have been trying to conceive for 6yrs now. Been through all the testing to find out that i'm good shape but my DH is not...he has high sperm count but borderline motility & poor morphology. Was wondering if any ladies have been successful w/ clomid when the fertility problem is the dh's sperm? Just starting my 4th round of clomid now....

If you are fine then i don't see why clomid would help, it also can cause hostle mucus which could hinder sperm. Preseed lubricant might help combat hostle mucus if you are going to take the clomid, but Clomid is usually used if you have an ovulation issue. I was on Clomid for 7 months and it does make you very emotional and increases your chances of twins or multiples, but it does regulate ovulation well. I would think your doctor would reccomend IUI first. Good luck =)

Hi my DH has low count, motility and mobility. IUI maybe your best option that way his sperm dont have to travel. Were doing our first IUI in september and I have no problems either and I'll be taking Clomid too. Good luck :)

Hi thank u for the response! The doc gave me clomid to make me super fertile since the problem lies w/ my dh n there's nothing they can do to repair his sperm.  So i figured it was at least worth a try since i don't really have anything to lose. I just started my 4th cycle of clomid a couple days ago. I take robitussin for hostile mucus n also do the baking soda n water ****** for acidic mucus, I take flaxseed oil n omega 3 fish oil to make sure that i'm even producing mucus while on clomid. Oh n i can't forget the baby aspirin. The doc has pretty much told us that if we want kids we'll have to do IVF but it's 12grand here n ATL. So til we can afford it i'm willing to give anything else a try :-D

Thank u for the response! We actually considered the IUI when we got his semen analysis results back but ruled it out. The doc told us it would pretty much be a waste of money n that we were better off to just go straight to IVF. She said that couples who skipped over the IUI n went straight to IVF saved an average of about 10grand when it was all said n done. We jus can't afford the IVF right now so we're trying just the clomid for the time being. Figured it was at least worth a shot cuz if i do end up getting pregnant by some miracle then i'll b saving myself a whole lotta money! :-D Good luck w/ ur IUI!!!!!
