Clomid question

by nickieb85, Jun 30, 2009 10:15PM
So my husband and I have been trying for a while (16 months) to have a baby and I found out recently that I am not ovulating and was recommended clomid. I am due to see a RE on the 27 of July and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect...I am so nervous!

One of my friend was having the same problem and the doctor suggested clomid her also. She took clomid from cycle day 5 to day 12 and she conceived the same month.I think you should give it a chance.Hope it will work for you too.Good luck

hi, i;m now on my fourth round of clomid (i have pcos), i hope you have a better time than i did.. on 50mg i really didn't have any side effects, but 100mg and 150mg is horrible. hot flashes, nausea, and i was not pleasant to be around. however on the positive side... two of my friends also took clomid, one got pregnant after one month with no side effects, and they other got pregnant the second month.  the success rate is high you just have to deal with the side effects. SSBD to you

by nickieb85, Jul 02, 2009 11:10AM
Thank you so much! I would deal with any and all side effects (my husband is in the Air Force so he isn't home much of the day LOL) and we have wanted a baby together for 8 years so I am willing to go through anything for him... I am sorry that it hasn't worked well for you yet but keep the faith!

thanks, everytime i get a feeling of rage (from clomid) i keep telling myself when we get our baby it will be worth it!  I have actually gotten better at recognizing when i'm mad and when i'm hormonal, so at least i can warn dh to stay away :).

by nickieb85, Jul 02, 2009 11:22AM
LOL! I know I had to take provera in March and wasn't sure how bad the side effects would be but they were bad! LOL! So dh knows to stay away!

don't get me started on that drug! i have to take 200mg of prometirum for 10 days to have a period... i better be sitting down when i take it, because i pass out 30 min after taking it with no memory of even being tired, then i wake up 45 minutes later but it feels like i just blinked, very f****d up. i was sitting on the couch one night, had just taken the prometrium... i was watching dh playing quitar in the kitchen, i swear to you i blinked and he was gone! i searched the whole house yelling his name before i realized 45 min actually gone by while i was on the couch and dh was outside in the garage!  i felt so stupid i almost didn't tell him.

Its just a vitamin at wal mart the brand is the Spring Valley one and it cost 6$ for 60 of them! This first article give the basics the only thing thats different is to O you need to start with 3 pills for the 5 days and then work your way up to the max 5 per day (200mg) for the 5 days if nothing happens! And of course you need to avoid other Soy products after the 5 days cus yes too much Soy can be bad!

Well the only way that I am going to have af is with provera (is this Soy Iso) supposed to induce af or help with ovulation?

by wanabb, Jul 02, 2009 04:11PM
My doctor tells me that once i o i will have af 14 days later if i am not pregnant.  so if this makes you o it should induce a period or a baby :).  i'm kind of scared to take anything otc, not everything is fda approved, and i have a lot of health problems other than fertility.  i don't think i'm going to risk it, but hopefully it works for you it sounds promising.

its like Clomid it's made to make you ovulate!  As far as AF theres an herb called Vitex that will help bring it on and make you regular BUT I do know and understand what you guys are saying also! If you have other health problems that is another story! I cannot afford a dr and dont have insurance thats why i choose to take the herbs but I think you guys are very lucky if you have one and can go for treatments!!
I just noticed MH took the links off thats messed up oh well if you need more info go to google it is there!!

sorry if i offended you, i have precancerous cells in my breast and my oncologist told me not to take anything without talking to him.  I think the soy iso sounds good, why not try it.  i'm excited for you and i hope it works, i'm on these stupid prescriptions and their not working, i am interested to see how your cycle goes :). was the article on 2ww?

by gokuangel, Jul 02, 2009 06:24PM
Nah! You didnt offend its cool! I understand not every1 can take herbs! Oh no im SS I hope everything goes with with the oncologist!
One article was on soul cysters and then the forum for 2ww was just different questions and stuff people were asking and posting about Soy!
Well I finished my 5th day last nite and i already feel wierd twinges in my side i hope that means im gearing up for O!! I'm also getting ready to take progesterone cream i wasnt sure about it but after reading what all depo causes im gonna take it and hope something gives!!

by nickieb85, Jul 02, 2009 09:44PM
I have vitex but i thought it was used to regulate my period I and I took it for 4 months and it didn't help my period at all.... i am going to have to do research to try to find something that will make my period start so I can try the soy iso... does anyone know anything about it?

by wanabb, Jul 03, 2009 10:41AM
i found a website called diaperswappers they have a 35 page forum on soy, all the women on there are taking it.

I finished my three rounds of 50mg Clomid with no luck. I have a regular cycle though.
I had a different experience with Clomid all three times. The first month I was very edgy and emotional. The second month I was so in love with my husband all month and life was great. The third month it felt more like PMS all month and had strong pregnancy symptoms, which I was not pregnant.  I think it makes your state of mind just stronger at that time, that is just a personal opinion.
The biggest side effect was hot flashes which were annoying at work!
Hopefully you have a good experience on Clomid!

by nickieb85, Jul 03, 2009 12:34PM
Well I did some research on soy isoflavones and now I am showing signs of ovulating again (but I have had several false positives) so I guess I am going to keep taking my meds I am on now and see how it goes... i will keep you ladies updated. i was trying to induce my period by using parsley tee (3-4 cups a day then use the isoflavones on days 3-7 or days 5-9) Good luck ladies!

My husband and I have been trying Clomid for 3 months now and it's definately been an adventure! I think the emotional tole is way worse than any other symptom that I've had... you know, the not knowing if you're prego or not each month?!  But, it hasn't been too bad.  The only symptoms we truly notice are mood swings, hot flashes and some cramping but nothing that can't be endured for a chance of having a little one!! I hope that everything goes well for you when you start the Clomid... I'm sure that once you conceive, all the pain and hardship you endured will be WELL worth it!! God Bless.

by nickieb85, Jul 04, 2009 11:54AM
Thank you ladies. I have been using the tea and nothing seems to be happening I had some cramps last night and today nothing. I kind of feel like I am going to start af but who knows...
