Dang monitor!

by tina1111, May 28, 2007 12:00AM
Cd11 and have been thinking I'm going to o early or on "normal" time this cycle. I always get up 3:30-4:40am. This is 1st cycle w/monitor. Went to Universal Studios yesterday and didn't get home until after midnight. Needless to say, I didn't get up at normal time. So, it's past the time frame on the montitor so it doesn't want a pee stick!!! It just stays with yesterday's reading of high. So, as always I have a back up-3 brands of opks. ALL THREE are pos! Stupid montitor! Is there a way to reset it to make it ask for a stick? The reason I got the darn thing is b/c I get so many false pos opks. I can't find anything in the book that tells me if I can. I can't believe I spent the money on the monitor and sticks and still am going to rely on opks! lol That's just my luck.

Hi Tina,

Okay, so I know you are starting clomid for the first time this cycle?  Since you had a past m/c, I'm guessing you normally ovulate on your own and the clomid is to help things along?  Is dr monitoring you with u/s?  If so, when do you go in?  Are you planning to do HCG trigger shot?

I've never done a round of clomid without the HCG trigger shot, and I've never used the monitor, but I can tell you than normally (without clomid) I would ovulate around cd 11-13 (usually cd 12) but on clomid, I go in for u/s on cd12 and do trigger shot that night and ovulate on afternoon of cd 14?

I'd start bding tonight and do everyother night until your temps go up.  If you aren't doing the HCG trigger you might ask your dr if you can start next cycle. It really helps with the timing issues.

I do o on my own and dr said no need for trigger. The goal for me is to release more than one egg to increase likelyhood of conception. I have had progesterone checked several times and is very good, also was checked to be sure I was o'ing. I did conceive on my own (1st try) in Oct 06. But, after mc in early Jan, I am running out of time (I'm 41) My cycles have been irregular since d&c. Normal was 26-28 days b4. It looks like I am o'ing early on the clomid. Today is cd11 and the earliest I o'd since mc has been cd16. I'm so excited! I get to shave almost a week off of the wait :) I just wanted to the the "peak" sign with the egg on the monitor. That's what I bought the d@mn thing for, lol.

The one time I took Clomid for the "clomid challenge test" to check blood work for  fsh levels before and after, I ovulated almost a week early. Just to be safe I would bd starting now and keep on keepin' on until your sure your done ovulating. Good luck, I hope this is the one!!

I know what you mean about wanting the monitor to work. When I don't get BFP, I still like to look back and see if I timed it right or not.  Hopefully you won't need it next cycle but just incase you can consider this the test cycle.  Get all the bugs worked out and see how the clomid affects your cycle sched.  Good luck and have fun trying.

Thanks ladies. I'm glad it's early rather than late for sure. I have gone as long as cd26 since mc, too. So cd11, yee haw. I just wish I could have seen the monitor change, lol. Plus, I had pos opks 2x last cycle and the 1st ones were wrong. I'd like the reassurance of the monitor to back it up. Oh well, bded this am and will tonight and tomorrow am. Until temps go up dh is on duty, lol.

Thanks a lot! I thought that was the case, both lines were equal yesterday, too. The book says don't pay attention to that, but I kinda figured it was like opks. I was just so mad at it when it didn't want my stick yesterday because I slept in! I've been waiting to see that egg, lol.

so you really dont o for a few days after your surge??who would have guessed!!! im so excited, the monitor shows an egg ready to go? that is so cool! go tina, its your birthday!!! lol girl this is going to be the longest 2ww!!

by vsentz, May 29, 2007 12:00AM
Tina, I have the monitor too.....and eventho I love to see the little eggie pop in the screen, you can tell your surge by looking at your pee stick too.....it turns darker just like the other OPK's.......so, if you wanna pee on your stick today and take a look at it would be fine.....don't do that everyday tho, cuz that's the purpose of the monitor, but I am sure you will not miss a surge for one day girl. ;)

Thanks Sheila :)  I'm probably getting all hyped up for nothing...But, I'm feeling really good about this month. The monitor and opks line up, the clomid, the preseed. We bd'd every 12 hrs to be sure to get the time right. Dr said is pos for egg to only live 12 hrs and I didn't want to leave the timing to chance. All my ducks are in a row. Temps should be up tomorrow and the wait on!! It's already killing me and it isn't even dpo yet! lol

You are such a positive person, and you crack me up.  I look forward to hearing from you and keeping up with your adventures.  It sounds like you have everything lined up, and I sure hope it works and you get your bfp!!  We are all going to be worked up in another,. ummm.... 9 or 10 days from now......:)  Lots of luck to you, and I will be watching to see....maybe there is hope for us over 40's out there (smile)

Hey, no problem hunny! I figured, they have to make their money somehow right? ;) but the monitor's main purpose i think is to let you know ahead of time when you will O, since it measures the estrogen too....and also to keep track (automatically) of  your cicles (since dummies like myself tend to forget the CD)!.

How long have you been TTC for?
I really hope you get your BFP VERRRRRRYY soon girl....!!! =))
