Hi Ladies,
I am on 50 mg Clomid. It was prescribed to me by my OB/GYN and he gave me absolutely NO instructions as to how to use it, except to take it on days 5-9. For the firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc cycle, I continued to use my fertility monitor b/c the doc had said that was fine. I got a "high" but not peak reading for nearly my whole cycle, then found out that you can't use a fertility monitor with Clomid. Great! One whole cycle wasted.
For the second cycle, my husband and I tried starting on Day 12, and continued through Day 16. I didn't know when or if I ovulated (it's normally on Day 13 or 14), so wasn't surprised when AF eventually came. Another cycle wasted!
Then I found out you can use OPK with Clomid, so for this (my third) cycle, I am using OPK every day. I started on Day 12, and I'm still going on Day 16. So far -- NOTHING. Is late ovulation normalNormal saline flush on Clomid? My cycle is definitely longer on this drug.
I am so mad at my OB/GYN for not giving me information on Clomid before I started using it! I feel I wasted two cycles because I didn't know what I was doing. Grrr! I finally got him to refer me to an ER, will see her in late January. Sorry to vent, I'm just really frustrated! Any Clomid advice would be greatly appreciated!
I took two rounds of Clomid before I got my BFP. I ovulated on/around cd 18 this last time around. I wasn't ovulating before Clomid and my cycles were VERY irregular so Clomid was wonderful for me. I have heard that Clomid can make you ovulate late so keep on using your opk. Good luck!
I got a positive OPK on CD 20 on my second round of clomid. I didn't use OPK's with my first round so I'm not sure when I o'd then!
I'm sorry you didn't get any instructions! I got instructions, but I wish I was monitored more closely. I'm not sure why some women get ultrasounds and tests done, but some don't?! I guess it's just the RE's preference?
I'm still waiting for AF to REALLY show up.. right now I'm just spotting brownish (sorry..that's gross) I thought maybe it was just implantation bleeding b/c normally when AF comes, it just comes... none of this brown stuff.... but I'm getting crampy so I'm sure she's on her way!
Good luck.. hopefully now that you really know what you're working with it'll be successful! Let us know!
Hi there,
I don't know if you read any of my other posts but I was having the same problem...I am on clomid and I usually ovulate on day 16 but I didn't get a positive OPK until day 21!!! In addition, I used the fertility monitor and I never got anything more than "high fertility" so around day 19 I switched and used OPK's. I saw the RE yesterday and asked him about it and he said clomid could have caused the late ovulation, yet a pregnancy is still possible.
I ovulated on cd 22, while on clomid 100 mg...i was monitored via ultrasound scans three times during this cycle ( 2 times bfr ovulation and the third after ovulation, i also saw the corpus luteum).....yes its true clomid makes many girls ovulate late...but once you ovulate your luteal phase will be always 14-16 days...(i nvr had my af when i was on clomid 50 mg, coz i never ovulated)
regarding why some girls get monitored by scans, i think in my case, i told my doc very very clearly that i cannot wait any longer and want to concieve as early as i can...she did say to wait for 6 months by trying naturally and blah blah..i just couldnt...since i was very adamant she said ok, we will monitor you closely...and no matter how uncomfortable it is but i prefer vaginal scan coz i can myself see the follicle size, and have an idea when i will ovulate...also if ur doc is not willing to do any scans, its better to watch your body very closely, everybody has some or the other signs of ovulation...i thought i never had, but this time i did feel some discomfort on my left side of abdomen...
I'm on clomid and my luteal phase is still 12 days long. It has not changed it at all. I chart bbt, check cm, and use opk's too. My 'o' day changed and is later by 4 days.
