Glucophage and Clomid Cocktails?

by Baby Vol, Sep 11, 2007 03:14PM
Hi ladies!

Had a beta today, BFN, 5 days late and NADA! Wow, I love my body. What a beast.

Anyhow....I have done the whole laying in the floor sobbing out of control and now that I am back in the upright position, I am filled with questions!

My Doc called today and said she wants to up the clomid and use glucophage which she said helps it..................................huh?

Anyone ever been given this combo and what in the name of sam hill does it do to you?

Thank in you all in advance for being so supportive and wonderful!

So sorry you got your BFN :'-(. I'm not sure what it does together.. But I take Metformin.. generic for Glucophage, and I was told it helps regulate periods and helps you ovulate. But with Clomid I have no idea. Sorry I can't be more help.

So sorry about the BFN.  I think I am going to have one this month as well.  Glucophage is a brand name for Metformin.  I have taken clomid with Metformin for the past couple of cycles.  I take 1000 mg per day of metformin and 50 mg clomid.  The clomid makes me have a little insomnia and get headachy and irritable from time to time.  But I don't have any side effects from the metformin.  I have heard other people say it made them have a slighly upset stomach, but I have not experienced this.  I still do not have a BFP, but clomid and metformin are supposed to work together really well to help you ovulate.  Good luck!

I am also on clomid and glucophage and am just on my first month of it.  I just started today but I go to the doctor on 9-13 so hopefully he will do this again next month.  Godd luck and I hope it works for you and me.

I was on Metformin (same as Glucophage) and Clomid for a total of 6 cycles to regulate my blood sugars and ovulation.  They are often related.  I started on just Clomid and nothing happened, so they added the Metformin and it helped the Clomid work more effectively.  Anyway, after 6 cycles I was getting really discouraged, but I'm now 29 weeks pregnant with triplets, so good luck to you!
