Graves Disease and Fertility

by Danielle8436, Oct 28, 2009 08:45PM
I am a 47 y.o. healthy female with Graves Disease.  I had a thyroidectomy last July to treat my graves disease.  Everything went well and I am on Synthroid.  My partner and I have been trying to get pregnant since then (taking 4 months off before, during and right after my surgery).  I ovulate regularly and always have except since I had a miscarriage 12 months ago my periods are now irregular.  This month I had a normal period then 10 days later had another, complete with irritability, cramps, tiredness etc....  Is this because of the miscarriage (one year ago) or could this be related to my thyroid surgery?  Am I going through peri menopause?  Is there a blood test for menopause?

thanks in advance

Danielle
