I have heard the it is suppose to be your body get rid of 1,000 units a day
so you should have it all out of your system i think it sounds good. I hope
it is anyways.

it takes about 10 days to get out of you system sometimes they say 12 but i am pretty sure it is out of your system already. Congrats i looks like you may be pregnant!

by Want2BeMama, Nov 23, 2007 02:24PM
yeah im pretty sure its out of your system they say 10 days tops!! so Congrats!! your going to be a mommy!!!

by JTDs Mom, Nov 23, 2007 02:26PM
Last month I had a 10,000 unit shot and it was in my system at least 16 days later (I had a blood test done at 16 days past trigger that came back at 8).

The next day, 17 days past trigger, I still got a very faint positive but I was not pregnant.

So, I dont necessarily think that 10 days is a gold standard--it really just depends on your body's metabolism,

After 10 days you should be clear.  Congrats.. it looks like you have a BFP!!

Take care and happy pg..

Had blood drawn on friday for hcg quanative, won't know results untill monday. Hoping this will finally be the time it works, but trying to be realistic and not set myself up for a bigger fall. Thanks for the support I will keep ya updated!

by magda_s, Nov 25, 2007 05:44AM
All th ebest... here's hoping that positive result sticks around!!!

by wife101902, Nov 26, 2007 05:18PM
So I got the results my HCG level as of friday was 55.8!! Doctor says thats somewhat low? Anybody have some input on that I would appreciate it. Of course I have researched and I from what I have seen that seems normal for early pregnancy, I can't be more than 2 -21/2 weeks pregnant. Now we have to hope and pray this pregnancy is successfull. I have had two misscarriages so my doctor has now perscribed me some progesterone gel. Anyone else ever had that?  Once again thanks to all of you ladies for the suppport it feels great to have people to share these experiences with!

by Wendy80, Nov 26, 2007 05:47PM
It seems that the initial HCG number isn't as important as the fact that it doubles every 48-72 hours.  Looking at a couple websites, the "average" for someone who is 14 days post ovulation is around 48.  From what you said earlier it sounds like you would have been roughly 14 dpo on Friday... so 55.8 seems good.  It's unfortunately hard to say for sure.  Is your doc having you go back in a couple days for more bloodwork?
I was prescribed Crinone (progesterone gel) for the last 2 attempts.  Some RE's just prescribe it right off the bat (like mine did).

Good luck with everything and congratulations on your positive!

Thats what i have been finding also. He is having me have more blood test on thursday of this week, so i am keeping my fingers crossed!  My doctor also perscribed crinone for me gonna take the first dose tonight. Did you have any side effects with that?

by Wendy80, Nov 26, 2007 05:59PM
I'm surprised they told you to use the gel at night.  It's probably just a matter of their preference... I was told to use it in the morning just so that it absorbs into the body better (I guess when you're walking around it works better... I'm not really sure why though... sorry).
But as for side effects, I didn't really ever notice anything.  I think it's a pretty mild medicine in terms of nasty side effects at least (course it sort of depends on the person).  Good luck on Thursday!

by Want2BeMama, Nov 26, 2007 06:40PM
hey congrats! i too use Crinone i got my last 2 boxes to go and im done with it! i havent had any side effects and i do use it first thing in the morning thas what i was told to do! i got for my first prenatal app. with my OB tomorrow morning and i will get another u/s im hoping for the best! ive been sick as a dog im 7w4d today, i was also taking dostinex for my high prolactin levels but my RE told me i can stop taking them...the only thing im taking now is met. thank god little by little all these meds are out!! but let us know how it goes on thursday good luck.

I have a question. Is that HCG shot the one you get when your taking clomid? And what is it for? or is it something different? I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years, recently got pregnant, but had a miscarraige. I want to get pregnant again, soon. I hope I can have a healthy baby soon.

by JTDs Mom, Nov 30, 2007 03:39PM
Congrats!  What was your second blood test number/

754

by wife101902, Nov 30, 2007 05:03PM
The hcg shot was to help the follicles release from the ovary. I was taking femora instead of clomid because the clomid just did not work for me. I know where your coming from we have been trying for two years and three months. So don't give up hope. How far along were you when you miscarried if you don't mind me asking.

Wow... 754... good for you!  Has the doc mentioned anything about twins to you?  Not that I know any more than you do about the levels and what they mean... I just know they should double every 2-3 days.. so if you had your 55.8 levels taken last Friday and you just got the 754 levels back yesterday then that's nice and high!
Congrats!

Thanks for the info. I miscarried at 8 weeks. Before you were on the clomid and femora and the hcg shot, did you ever find out if your tubes were blocked? I bought the clomid from another country took it and goyt pregnant the first month. But I did not know I had to take the shots also. Maybe I can do it right this time. I feel so worn out. At first, the doctors said everything was ok, then no, then I do not know, then who knows, then no, then maybe cuz there were 2 babies. I really did not feel any pain. Most of my pain is from depression. I hope I can pregnant soon. Thanks for answering. Good luck and God Bless!

I have had two misscarriages so at this point my fear is that it will happen again. Hoping and praying all will go well and we will finally get to welcome our first child into this crazy world. Never had any tubal blockage. Some women don't have to have the HCG shot following clomid or femora is just depends on what your body is doing on it's own. Are you actively trying to concieve now? I wish you the best of luck!!

They did not mention twins being the cause of the high HCG but I did have a few follicles mature with the femora so anything is possible. Nice to know someone else was thinking the same thing I was! I thouhgt it looked pretty hopeful but I would be happy with one HEALTHLY baby! The thought of two does get me excited though!

Congratulations first off and have a happy and healthy 9 months. I took femara this cycle as well 2.5 mg days 3-7. What dosage were you on? And I'm wondering if I should ask my dr about doing the HCG shot. Did you ovulate on your own before you tried the clomid or femara?

by wife101902, Dec 03, 2007 03:54PM

Thank you! I also was on 2.5mg days 5-9
5 years ago before i was diagnosed with PCOS i did ovulate on my own but since then only twice on my own. That was why my doc. perscribed them to me. However the clomid did nothing for me. The femora made my folliciles bigger but the HCg is what actually helped to relaese them from my ovary.  If you think you might need it I would most definitely ask about it!!

I am new to this forum but thought it would be nice to have someone to chat with that is going through some of the same issues.  I had a question for you.  I got my HCG shot this morning (day 14) and I had done clomid for days 3-7 this cycle.  Is this your first time doing the shot?  I only got half the dose today 5,000  unit.  Have you had any side effects?  I have been ttc for 3 years and 2 months.  I hope everything work out for you :0

I ovulate on my own. And did ovulate last cycle with clomid and 2 amps of repronex. But this cycle I am late on my ovulation and my follicles were small for cd 14. I'm just wondering if adding an hcg shot with the femara next cycle might help even though I ovulate on my own without meds. I have PCOS and endometriosis, and only have one ovary and fallopian tube. Do you remember how big your follicles were? Like Wendy said that could be a sign for twins since your hcg levels increased so much.

This was my second time for the shot I got mine day 19 and at 10,000 units.  THe first time I had no side effects at all but the second time i got very tender in the injection area and the next day I was nauseas and very tired but then I was fine. Good luck!!

Well I went on day 16 and my follicle was only 16 went back on day 18 and it was 18. My doctor won't give me the shot unless at least one follicle is at least 18. I am not sure what benefits the shot would be to you if you ovulate on your own but it's worth asking.

by Carrie526, May 13, 2008 09:37AM
Anyone ever had NO side effects from the HCG shot? I had one last month and felt all symptoms of early pregnancy, but this month nothing. I had to give it to myself and I am wondering if I did it wrong? I had three follicles and my FUS said only one had ovulated!
