HCG Trigger Question

by Heather5, Apr 28, 2008 12:02PM
OK, so I just had my CD13 sonogram today. I had two follicles (18 and 18.5), and my RE wants me to take my ovidrel trigger shot tonight (250 mcg). I've never used a trigger before, so I was just wondering if there's anything I need to know beforehand. And also, does it seem like the timing is right? After I left the RE's office, I started to wonder if I should have asked to wait until tomorrow...to give the follicles a chance to mature some more. Any ideas?

Trigger will help your follies mature so by the time of your IUI/ovulation the two follicles will be over 20.   You will O about 36 hours after the trigger so there is some time for your follicles to grow.  So, I don't think you need to wait.

I hope this is your month!!!  Fingers crossed for your BFP.

Thanks, Helen! I'll cross my fingers for you as well ;-) When is your retrieval?

by Helen72, Apr 28, 2008 12:48PM
My retrieval was this morning.  I am already at work.  It was nothing, don't even need an aspirin.  I had my trigger on Saturday and most of my follies on Saturday were 18 and some even smaller but my doc told me that the trigger will help them all mature.  Even w/o the trigger follicles grow 2-3 mm per day.  That's why I think you will be OK.
I'll know my fertilization results tomorrow.  I guess we'll be in 2ww together although my 2ww I guess starts today since the eggs are all gone.

Good luck!

Oh, wow! How exciting!!! Did they retrieve all 8? I'll definitely be crossing my fingers for a high fertilization rate and development!!! Best of luck, Helen!

Actually, I had 11 on my u/s on Saturday (after seeing only 8 just two days before) but today they retrieved 16.  I am still in shock about that but not complaining.  Most of those new arrivals are probably not mature enough but I am hoping for at least 10 fertilized eggs.
So, who knows, by the time you O you may have more than 2 eggs  :)
