Has anyone become Pregnant with a blood disorder called Factor V Liden using Fermara and Lovenox

by fluffylou, Dec 29, 2007 06:56PM
Hi I have had a miscarrige and have been trying to get pregnant for 3years. I have had many IUI with Clomid got pregnant with loss to miscarrige at about 12 weeks. I have had one cycle of IVF, my body did not react well to the meds and made my BP increase to a very dangerous level. I was diag in October with having a genetic blood disorder called Factor V Liden. I am currently on bloodthinners (injectable) called Lovenox. That is being used along with the Fermara. I react well to the Fermara. I take diabetic medication for PCOS and a baby asprin a day. I had IUI today and one more tomarrow. I was just wondering if there was someone out there that has simular problems and if they had any success with this treatment? Just hoping for a miracle at this point. I would be happy with one bundle of joy!

Hi! I also have Factor V Leiden...and I've had two miscarriages (one at 8 weeks and one at 6.5 weeks). I've only been on Lovenox once and that was after my first miscarriage which required a D&C. When I got pregnant again, I was to start Lovenox after a heartbeat was detected, but sadly, the day we saw the heartbeat, I was already spotting and cramping, and I ended up having a miscarriage later that night.

My last miscarriage was in September of this year, and now I'm back trying again.

Is it because of the Femera that your doctor has you on Lovenox while ttc?

Hi. I have a borderline protein s deficiency and was on Lovenox for the first twelve weeks. I started Lovenox with a positive beta. I had twins in October (after two m/cs)!

Carrying a baby with a clotting disorder can be done. I am proof. Be aggressive and assertive in your care.

I wish you luck!

Thank you for your feed back, unfortunally there are others with the same problem,  My Endocranoligist put me on the Femera for 3 cycles with IUI. I start the Lovenox the day of the IUI along with progestrone. I am at high risk of DVT so when I do get pregnant I am going to be on the blood thinner the entire pregnancy. My sister just had a baby last month and was on blood thinners the entire time due to having tested positive for ANA which I also have, but she did not test positive for the factor V. Heather5 when did you find out you had the factor V? Before getting pregnant or after the miscarriage? I just found out about 2 months ago.

I am so happy to hear that having a clotting disorder will not hinder me carring thank you baby1234. I just wish for only 1 two would be nice but 1 will do. Good luck to all ttc, its been a long taxing experience for me.

I tested negative for Factor 5 but have some kind of enzyme defeciency - or something that my dr really couldn't explain.  The treatment for me is baby aspirin - it's working so far - I'm at 12w2d as of today...  I 'googled' my enzyle issue or whatever - c677t - and lots about Factor 5 came up - lots of discussions about people on the meds you mentioned and experienced success...  It took 3 cycles with the baby aspirin to work -but for whatever reason - 81mg of the stuff is doing the trick! I'll be on it every day of the preganancy and the nurse said I would want to take it every day for the rest of my life - which - uh- I doubt.  If I've lived my life just fine until 32 and this was caught in genetic testing after 2 early term miscarriages - just when I'm TTC I'll take aspirin.  Good luck!

DIane-  I think c677t is MTHFR mutation but I'm not positive.  I have two mutations one is A something something and the other is c677t.  I am compound heterozygous MTHFR.  The only recommended the baby aspirin for me also. Congrats on  you preg!
