The HcG is a "trigger" shot to release the egg from the ovum.....so basically the follicle will rupture.  It is usually done when the doctor feels the follicles are large enough and mature enough to rupture.  So it is usually done at a specific time according to your follicle size and maturity...not necessarily on day 15.  The follicles are monitored by ultrasound usually on day 12.  They usually seemed to have me trigger day 14.

Good luck!

I have a question. I'm thinking about doing HCG for weight loss but understand it has indications for fertility as well. Do you have any idea if HCG injections of 175 iu's is enough to trigger ovulation? Docs think i have pcos and am not ovulating so I wanted to lose weight before ttc but wonder if my hcg injections throghout the month would assist with ttc.
what do you thinK?
