How long do I have to wait to take preg. test?

by chrissy22451, Feb 04, 2009 01:18PM

Since Aug. 2008, I have been on either Clomid or Femera to help w/ Ovulation.  When I got my period on 1/4/09, I went to the RE, and they told me I had a cyst on the left ovary, so I couldn't do any treatments this month.
Of course that was upsetting, but I did the ovulation test strips, just to see if I would O on my own.
I actually got a postive O test on CD 27.  (before being on fertility treatments, my cycles were anywhere from 30-90 days).  So today is 5 dpo and I'm wondering how much longer I should wait until I take a test to see if I was successful on my own?  I'm trying to give it time and put it out of my mind, but every little thing that feels different, I can't help but wonder if it's a pregnancy symptom! :)
(my breasts feel very sore, and the only other time they felt like this was when I was on Clomid).

Cysts can cause pos opks as well. Are you sure you o'd? If you are sure, you should be able to start testing around 12dpo. Many of us test earlier. But, many of us waste lots of money, lol. I had a cyst that gave me 5 pos opks. Turns out I didn't o until cd62!!!! The body can treat the cyst like an egg and produce Lh to trigger o. Well, it really isn't an egg and it doesn't go anywhere. So, the body tries again, and again. This causes multiple pos opks without really o'ing. It is similar to what ladies with PCOS go through. Fortunately, they do go away.

Hmmm... very interesting.  I didn't know the cyst could cause a pos opk.  I am not positive I O'd then!
I felt some twinges around the same time... I guess I'll just have to wait and see if Af comes.  Waiting is just so hard!! :)
