How long should we hold off BDing before IUI?

Hey ladies! Well I just started clomid this morning. I'm feeling a little dizzy but thats all so far. I was wondering How many days should DH and I hold off BDing before our IUI? And do you still BD after the IUI? How long after the HCG injection do they usually schedule the IUI?

hi, I was told to BD abput 2 -3 days before IUI, no less, no more, I had the HCG trigger and the insemination was done about 36 hours later, after that we could BD as much as we wanted, that night the  next night. are you on injectables , how big are your follicles and what CD are you.

My RE has us bd the night of cd 12 and go in for IUI on cd 14.  Best of luck to you.

I just had my first IUIs last Thursday and Friday.  I was on 100 mg Clomid, and was told to take the HCG shot based n blood work and ultrasound.  So, I had blood work on Monday, was told to BD Tuesday night, and then had my HCG shot Wednesday night late (11 pm), and had IUI Thursday morning at 10 am.  We really wanted to BD again Wednesday, but didn't want to deplete the supply.  My RE said they like to see at least 10 million (?) sperm count for IUI.  Luckily my husband has really high numbers (24 million!  surely one of those little swimmers can find it's way to my lonely little egg), so we didn't feel like BDing on Tuesday would affect Thursday's count.  I think the paperwork said to abstain for 2 days before IUI?  Good luck

Not a good idea - 2 nights before is fine but night before a morning IUI isn't a good idea.

Depends on how well your husbands sperm count is.  My RE said if we are having an afternoon IUI the night before is ok...but my husbands count is almost always in the 200 million range or more with great motility.  Yes, he is superman.  Sure wish I was his superwomen and we wouldn't be having this problem.  

If his count is low then I would let there be 36 - 48 hours between your last BD and IUI...then my RE says the night of IUI and the night after just in case that eggie stays put a little longer then expected.
