Hyperstimulation Question

by kaprovea, Sep 12, 2008 06:24AM
I am really confused about how a person hyperstimulates after retrieval.  How exactly does that work?

Hyperstimualtion is when you start building fluids on your abdomene area and uterus and also enlarged  cysts. Women with PCO are on higher risk for OHSS.You start feiling really bloated but with an ultr.your doctor will be able to tell you if you hyperstimulate or not.IF that happens you need to be really carefull cause if it is bad the fluids start going up to the lungs and you need hospitalization.

I just had my retrieval on Wednesday and the DR said that I did hyperstimulate mildly.  I am getting better but I was wondering why it happens .. where do the fluids come from?  I mean I felt bloated on the day of the retrieval and felt pain on the day of retrieval but the next day it was even worse.  I guess I don't understand if they are taking the follicles out how the fluid gets in there?

The fluid builds back up, it could possibly get a little worse if you get your BFP. Drinks lots of fluids and protein. It really does help a lot. You are supposed to drink so much that your pee is clear, that's when you know you are drinking enough. I hope you feel better soon.

Im drinking a lot of water and I am starting to feel better each day.  The worst part is the nausea that i feel.  I am not going for the transfer until next week because of my high chance of hyperstimulating.
