I just had 13 eggs retrieved

by dorti, Oct 08, 2009 11:01AM
Hi everybody, I just came back from the hospital and I had 13 eggs retrieved. That is my third ivf. I had two ivf in May and June - failed (each time I had only 3-4 eggs retrieved). If everything will go well with the fertilization, I will have a transfer on Sunday. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. If all of my eggs will fertilize, you think how many embryos should i have transferred ? I am 38.

I usually have 10 eggs retrive and transfer them all of 5-8 embryos on day 3. I'm also 38-39 yrs of age.  However, discuss to your RE.

13 eggs retrieved...that's great! I'm not sure about the transfer number. I'm 35 and had two transferred. Best of luck to you!!!

Hi, a lot will depend on the quality of eggs.  Your RE is the best person to advise as he knows your medical history.  You don't wnat to be in my situation.  I had 4 eggs transferred and now I am pregnant with triplets and have to undergo reduction.  I am 39

Good luck to you too! I know, that waiting is the worst part of the whole ivf treatment.  Was this your first ivf?

I will have a transfer tomorrow (10/11). From 13 eggs - 12 were matured and 11 fertilized.  I will find out how many are good for the transfer. But I am hoping for 5-6. What do you think? Some girls do like 2 to 4.  Last time I had 3 transferred and nothing happened so this time (if it will be possible) I am thinking to transfer more.

Congrats on the outstanding ER.  I would love to know more about your insurance.  Ours does not cover much for IVF and we have bluecross blueshield as well.  I am trying to get our company to increase the coverage on IVF and I am trying to gather information on it.

Hi, thank you for your respond. My insurance is covering everything up to 4 full ivf per life time , I think it is because I have HMO. If I would choose PPO then they would cover only about 80% of all costs. With HMO you are forced to choose their doctors but I am OK with that.Good luck to you!

Congrats on your ER and ET.  Baby dust your way.  Your numbers greatly improved.  Did your dr change anything this cycle.  I've had 2 ivf cycles cancelled due to low follicle numbers <5 each time.  I was just wondering if you had done anything different.
