It totally depends on the amount of monitoring your cycle requires and if your insurance will cover any part of your dr visits and your medications.. also what kind of medication you need.. some are very cheap and some are VERY expensive..

My insurance covers the cost of the dr visits and the ultrasounds to monitor my cycle but I pay for the IUI and the sperm wash which comes to $300...

best of luck to you

Tanker Chic is right..... most insurance covers for doctor office, medicines, sonogram, ect....  Some medicines cost less and some cost more....

Good luck to you...

Price was of a big concern to us so we called our insurance company first and asked what they would cover regarding this. They said they would cover all of the diagnostic, testing, etc... but told me they would not cover any of the meds. or the actual procedure itself. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to purchase the medicine to find out that they do cover part of it. Of course we still have to pay the co-pays, etc... and we had to use a sperm donor and that was quite expensive. For the actual IUI procedure itself though the doctor charged $238. I would call my insurance company and ask. Also, if they say they do not cover for the meds. I would call around to a lot of different pharmacies. When we had to have the Ovidrel shot and didn't know that the insurance would pay for most of it I called around checking prices. Those prices ranged from $200 at one pharmacy for one shot to around $86 at another pharmacy. Also, the fertility doctor we are using has a business manager and part of his job it is to dicuss with patients making this process affordable. So, my second call after I got off of the phone with the insurance company would be to the doctor's office. I would just call and ask if they have a business manager or better yet, just do what my husband did, he said, look I'm not broke, but I'm not rich either. I don't want any surprises here. I want to make sure that you get paid and that everyone gets paid. Money is a concern. Tell me what I need to do here. In our case we actually had to go ahead and pay $200 up front on our first consultation. They put this basically good faith money in an "escrow account" which basically just means that they hang on to it in case we think something is covered by the insurance and it turns out it's not and we owe them money. That's the other reason that I would call the doctor's office. The "escrow" money came as a surprise to us. Every office operates differently and I would just make sure that there is nothing else that I needed to be aware of. I really hope that this helps!!!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!

I agree with the ladies, it depends on your insurance.  Mine covered everything up to the iui, but anything associated with it (the u/s the day of & semen prep) was not included.  So, I paid around $300+ for each iui. I can't remember the exact amount.

I live in Alabama. My doctors had told me that different insurance companies will pay different things, do different things, this is in my state anyway. I just called my company several years ago when I went to get the hsg done. I guess that was about three years ago. I wanted to make sure it was covered and the company said it was.
