IUI and ovidrel shot and pregnancy test

i had my IUI on fri november 23rd...and i am supposed to go back a week from then (this fri) for a shot of ovidrel b/w and u/s and then wait a week to see if pregnant. ok, so,  i am pretty sure i have read on the message boards to have to wait 2 weeks from IUI to get your results. one reason being that the ovidrel shot is still in your system and could give you a false positive...so if that is true i was curious today and took a test thinking i would get a false positive only due to the ovidrel shot...but instead i got a big negative....shouldnt it still be in my system? sorry if this is a stupid question but i am new to all this...

Wow, that is quick for it to be out of your system that fast.  I took the ovidrel shot on the 22nd but I haven't tested yet.  Last month it was out of my system 12DPO...I didn't test until then.

I think you should've gotten a false positive but that's just me.  I know everybodys bodies are different...maybe you have a really fast metabolism....try not to worry...you could always call your RE and see what they say....

I agree, you should contact your RE and see what they say. Not everyone's system is the same as ashort mentioned. Lots of luck to you.

If you had IUI on the 23rd that means you had shot on the 21st, right?? So today is 7dptrigger shot.  I have tested as early as 8 days and gotten bfn.  And that is using FRER (first response early results) which are very sensitive.  I usually tested really early to see if I would get a negative, that way when I would test later, I would know if it was positive or false positive.  But I never had to go in to get a second shot.

my re said the reason for a 2nd ovidrel shot a week later...is in case i am pregnant it will keep my hormone levels up....but it seems no one else does this....hmmm...... well do most of you after your IUI continue to take some form of progesterone???

I have heard of others getting additional hcg shot, just never had to do it myself.  I was put on progesterone, but only after I was pg (around 6wks) and the progesterone level started dropping.

ok...so i called my RE office today and told them my history.... i took my ovidrel shot this past wednesday...and had IUI on friday.... so i was curious to see if i would get a false positive with the ovidrel in my system...but i didnt... so the office left me a message saying that you have to wait at least a week before testing... a negative result means nothing at this point and its too early to tell...
so fri will be exactly 1 week from my IUI... and they are doing b/w and u/s...so i guess we shall find out then... so then what it the 2ww (2 week wait for then)? why did they say only a week?

my RE nurse clarified to me today that either the RE could give progesterone to take daily in the event i was pregnant ...or just administer one shot of ovidrel... both will do the same...i guess its just a matter of preference.

Hi. I lost my baby 4 months ago at 22weeks. My Dr gave me Femara 2.5mg daily and got Ovidrel on the 18th. I went for IUI the 20th. I only had one foli. Dr said i can take test in 14days. I cant wait that long... Who had positive preg with this?

i did this post a long time ago tanya 55...and i did end getting pregnant...gave birth in july 08...so i guess everything the RE did worked...best of luck to you....
