Miscarriage and MTHFR

by murfirhea, Oct 16, 2007 09:45PM
I  have had 3 miscarriages in the last year. I tested positive for compund heterozygous MTHFR. My homocysteine levels came back normal. Could MTHFR still be causing me to lose my babies even if the homocysteine is normal? I have started taking 1mg of folic acid, and B6 &B12. I have also been taking baby aspirin. Any thoughts? Anyone experience the same thing?  MY dad  had normal homocysteine levels and died from what we believe was a clot to the heart.  He had no congenital defect and or heart disease.  He was 37.  So I'm freakin a bit.  Any help is appreciated!

I'm sorry no one has been able to help. I know there are at least 2 posters with MTHFR, but don't recall who they are or if they are still around. If you don't get a response today, try again tomorrow. Sorry I can't help.

I'm sorry to here about your m/c's.  I also had a m/c in June.  I have compound heterozygous MTHFR.  I am taking Folbic, prenatals, and a baby aspirin daily.  My RE said my Homocyseine levels are normal.  He said you really don't need to worry too much unless they are high.  He said you should have them checked during pregnancy though.  Good luck to you!
