OPK question

by love1221, Jun 16, 2008 07:11PM
So, I did the clomid challenge this month.  I started using OPK's as soon as I finished taking the clomid.  Always had a very faint line there.  Yesterday's line was fairly dark, but not as dark as the control line.  So, I thought that today would probably be the day I would O.  Tonight though the OPK line looked lighter than yesterdays.  Did I miss it?  Or did I not O at all?  Someone please give me some advice!

I wouldn't think you would've missed it. It's usually +ve for a day or two, and then you ovulate 12-48 hours after your first +ve opk. You do your temps too right? You will know for sure when you ovulated by doing your bbt. Keep testing with an opk, at least until you see a clear thermal shift that stays up for a few days, then you will know the exact day you ovulated. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm charting my temps also.  I'm not losing hope yet.  The time I miscarried I took clomid 50 mg, and I didn't ovulate until CD18.  I'm just CD15 today.

You might have missed it. Some women have a short surge, and if so, you could have surged sometime between when you tested yesterday and the test you took today. But since you didn't ovulate until CD18 on clomid before, I have a feeling you'll get your surge a little later this week. But just in case, make sure you start BDing now (if you haven't already), and continue until you see a sustained thermal shift on your chart! Best of luck!

they say not to use opk's when on clomid cause they can show false positives, well that's what my Re said anyway, but good luck

Yeah, I have been told that Clomid can mess with the OPK too. I have that clear blue monitor and I seem to have high fertility from day 6 until day 23 or something like that, but it never goes peak. But dr. says I ovulate... who knows :)

I did 6 rounds of Clomid and did 3 opks a day(all different brands) to see if they would affect the result. None of the 3 were altered even while taking it. I used Answer, CBE & IC's. The instructions in the boxes say that it will not change the result either. I had heard that, too and was worried about it. So, I put it to the test, lol. Maybe it's just my obsessive pee stick habit, he he he.

So, my test today was about the same as my test yesterday.  Not any lighter, which I thought it would be if I missed O.  But, also not any darker, which I thought it would be if I was still getting closer to O.  I'm so confused!
