Ovulation before trigger shot?

by Lexi72, Dec 26, 2007 02:51PM
Hi, I am new to the forum and had a question.  This will be my first time doing Clomid, Menopur and Ovidrel and the IUI.  I am about to do the trigger shot this evening and have IUI Friday morning.  My question is could it be possible that I already ovulated or is that not possible.  I am just thinking what is keeping me from ovulating before the Ovidrel (trigger) shot and if I do the trigger shot tonight is Friday morning to late to do the IUI and should we also have intercourse as well.  I would like anyone's feedaback.  Thanks!

If you are not ovulate, trigger shot will help follicle rupture and release the eggs.  Usually after the shot, you wait at least 36 hours before doing IUI.  I don't think it's too late.  If you are concerning about ovulating before trigger shot, you can tell by your cervix mucus. Is it wet? is it have eggwhite raw type?  can you feel like jelly and stretchout?  If you are ovulating, to be safe side, just go ahead and intercourse then do IUI.  it's won't hurt.

You are the only one who can tell if you are ovulating or not.  Do you use Ovulation Predictor Kit to test if you have positive LH surge?  Usually when I have my trigger shot, my dr. do sonogram to see how big is the follicles and if the follicles ready to rupture then they give me a shot.

Good luck to you.

Hi, and thanks for your reply.  That is part of the problem I can't tell when I ovulate and I do use the predictor kits but I don't always get a result.  I have a 2 year old daughter with no truble conceiving but this time around it has been alot of work.  I assume they will do an ultrasound on Friday before they do the IUI and can tell me then.  I had an ultrasound this past Monday to see how many follicles I had and the Dr. said 3.  So tonight I do my trigger and then Friday IUI.  Thanks again for response.

Are your follicles mature?  do they ready to rupture?  I think if your doctor said have trigger shot tonight, then it's good timing.  Good luck to you this cycle.

take care

They were not mature on Monday, she said they should be ready by Wednesday for the trigger shot and IUI Friday.  DO you know if they continue to grow some after the trigger shot?  I will know more on Friday.  Are you trying to get pregnant for the first time or do you already have children?  Thanks again.
