PCOS Questions/Experiences

by danielle0817, Jun 19, 2007 12:00AM
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, and I have some questions about PCOS.  I was just diagnosed with PCOS last Friday although I have had a feeling I had it for a long time now.  I have so many questions that I cannot even put into words.  All I know is I really want to have a baby and the more I read about PCOS the more discouraged I get.  If any of you who suffer from or have suffered from PCOS would like to share your story with me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you

I also have PCOS and have been dealing with it for a little over 5 years, it is a struggle on trying to concieve. I was first told that I was not going to have any problems but after trying I foind out that it do play a major factor. My doctore now has me on Byetta injections to help the insulin and my weight control. So far I have been on it for 4 weeks and lost 13 lbs which is great. But now I am dealing with other issues on top of my PCOS, like pylops and blocked tubes. I feel after this challenge then things should be looking up.

Have you seen a fertility doctor yet???

I went to see an RE on Friday that was how they confirmed that I definately have PCOS.  My husband and I are trying to conceive, but I haven't had a period for over 6 months (since I stopped BC).  Before going on BC at 16 (I am now 23) I got my first period at 11 and then did not get another one until I was 13 and maybe every 6 months to a yr.  I didn't have much of a problem with weight control on the pill I guess the pill subsides the side effects, but with not being on the pill I can't stop gaining weight now matter how much I work out or eat healthy.
My RE has put me on metofrmin 1500 mg and provera to bring on my period.  On my 5th CD I have to take clomid and go see him to do an ultrasound.  He will then give me an injection of ovidrel, so we will see what happens.

i have pcos and concieved last year but miscarried. attend a weight loss clinic to get my cycles regular have you tried working out because studies now are showing that any activity including housework for 30 mins. help with getting ovaries to stimulate again.

Yea I have tried everything!!!!, from exercising to joing gyms and eating excatly what the docotor ordered, but it seems as if nothing worked. So now he has me on byetta injections  to help with the insulin and weight only been on it for 4 weeks now so not sure if it helped stimulate my ovaries yet i guess we will see. I am starting to loose hope becuase it seems like I have been batteling with this forever I am 25 years old now and dont have any kids, so now it feels like I have nothing to loose. If you or anyone can give me advise on what I should do or ask my doctor that will help me alot.

My doctor has suggested that I go and see a nutritionist.  Have any of you gone and seen a nutritionist.  If so what kind of diet did they put you on?  Right now my meals are like this and hopefully this will help..
Breakfast:
A fruit smoothie with protein powder in it or a yogurt
Snack:
Cereal bar or fruit or yogurt
Lunch:
Salad w/ chicken or ham or some other form of protein
Snack:
Carrots or some other form of veggies
Dinner:
Anything w/ minimal amount of carbs

Any diet suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The diet consists of low carbs. It didnt really work for me.
The frist doctor put me on Metformin and I was on a low carb diet loss about 4lbs in a month. Now im on Byetta injections and I loss 13lbs in a month. Put each person is different so it just may work well for you.

Hi,

I was diagnosed in March to have PCOS. I have a 3 year old DS and i had been trying for a second one for over 12 months without success. I am on Metamorfin and diet and exercise - i have only lost 6 pounds.

Your diet seems to be fine - but just limit sugar and this i mean everything that has sugar in it, wheat, carbs. Drink lots of water and exercise!

I have read on this forum plus on "Soulcysters" alot of success rates on clomid. This is my 3rd cycle on clomid and i always feel O pains - the problem has been timing our bd as dh and I  travel alot and the O days have been shifting like crazy from CD 17 to CD 14, to CD 12 and now it is CD 15 and i havent felt anything yet. We bd on CD 9 through to CD 13 - hope this will be our month.

Clomid works best taken early in the cycle - try day 2-6 or 3-7.

Good luck & Baby dust
