PCOS?

by socgirl, Nov 26, 2007 09:23PM
Hi all,

I've been ttc for 6 months now...my doc ordered tests awhile ago (ultrasound, bloodwork to check hormone levels).  All looked ok, except that I have a slightly elevated level of the hormone DHSEA (or something like that).  He told me he thinks i have pcos.  Funny thing is, is that i've been reading up on PCOS and I don't really have alot of the symptoms...my cycles are anywhere from 29-32 days (it varies a little), so i consider myself to have normal periods...Also, my periods are not unusually long or heavy.  I sometimes have some pelvic pressure during midcycle or around when i ovulate, and sometimes a tiny bit of spotting with Ovulation.  All these things i thought were within normal range.  Anyone ever have heard of having pcos without any of the major symptoms?

I was told that I have pcos august "06"....but I did have irregular periods....but the only thing that showed in my blood work was my testosterone was very slightly elevated.  I have a friend that has pcos and had normal periods, just bad cramps during them.. The ultrasound should be the biggest clarification if you do have it, that is what I would think.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with PCOS after difficulty in ttc - that's how she found out.  No symptoms otherwise.  She now has two beautiful sons (3 miscarriages in between however...)

i was told i have pcos...and i dont bleed regularly or ovulate. so i was put on metformin and then clomid for 3 months. since that didnt work this month i took provera to bleed, then 10 days on follistim injectibles and an ovidrel shot and an IUI... i go on fri for my 2nd ovidrel shot...then we shall see. my symptoms of pcos are over weight, carry most of weight in the mid section, irregular periods and dont ovulate...are you seeing a RE? if not i would go to one to be treated not an OBGYN...
