Pesky ovarian cysts and clomid

by ntaylor, Aug 04, 2007 09:59AM
Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has experience with ovarian cysts. I was doing my workup for recurrent miscarriages (3) and on my baseline ultrasound last week there was a large cyst. RE said it's most likely functional and will go away soon, check next month. However, I had my labs drawn for estradiol and fsh and they were normal, which the nurse said makes it a nonfunctional cyst. Does this mean it will take longer to go away? The reason I'm so concerned is because I'm trying clomid next month as long as the cyst is gone! How long do these usually take to dissipate and go away? Thank you, I'm so anxious to try I hate this waiting game.

I have had two large cysts while on clomid.  The first one was gone after 3 weeks, and the second was was gone after 2 weeks.  There are several different kinds of cysts, as you know.  If you have not been taking any fertility drugs, yours may not be the same kind of cyst that I get.  Ask your doctor what type of cyst you have and then read up on it.  Especially, ask him if the cyst has fluid in it, or if it is solid.  There is one type of cyst that is solid and it sometimes has to be removed, but it is rare so try not to worry.  If your RE is not concerned, then you probably shouldn't be either.  Hope this helps.
