Question about Ovulation and my cycle

by kibbler, Oct 31, 2006 12:00AM
Okay So this is going to be a long question and I'm sorry if this has already been asked I am just so lost and I don't really have anyone to go to...
So I have been off of my BCP since September and I have had one normal period which started on the 17th of October.. So I have been reading a book about ovulation and all of that.. I have noticed some different things with my body that I never noticed before... I just wanted some feedback on my situation..

When I started my period on the 17th It was pretty normal lasted about 7 days and everything went fine.My cycle was 28 days long. If I counted right. So if I am counting right my most fertile days were from October 28th until today.. Yesterday I noticed I had a little bit of discharge that was really sticky and stretchy... I have felt a little wierd today.. but not bad...

So I guess my question is Do you think that I have ovulated? and when can I test? Do I have to wait until I have missed my period??

Thanks so much

To tell if you Ovulated or not will be tough without knowing what you basal body temperatures have been for this entire cycle.  GOing on cm alone, yes, you may very well have.  Are you regualar?  If you are, that's another good sign that you probably did ovulate.  I would wait at least two weeks past ovulation to test.  You would for sure know by 18 days past ovulation, and wait and see if you period shows up.  But I know how anxious you are, so you can buy a test that detects pregnancy early, like first response early response, or any other one that says it detects the hormone early.  However, lots of times you can get a false negative if you implanted late, so it's best to wait.  I'm with you though...I want to know as soon as possible.  Best wishes!!!!!!!!!!

You could be on your fertile days right now.  Not every woman ovulates at the same time during the cycle.  If you are regular 28-30 days cycle gal, you could ovulate between cd 13-cd18.  BBT is the best way to find out if you ovulate or not.  Try it next cycle if you don't get pregnant this cycle.  Take your tem every morning at the same time before getting out of bed and record it.  One of the mai sites you can use to chart your temps is Fertility friend.com.  Eggwhite is usually present a couple of days prior to Ovulation so you want to BD on those days to make sure you cover your basis.  Good luck to you

The stickiness indicates ovulation usually. I think that most women tend to have the stickiness for a couple of days and then watery discharge. I believe you are most fertile during the sticky days ... my drs tell me different things (one dr says you are fertile 5 days before O, the day of and the day following O, and the other says you are fertile 3 days before O, the day of O, and 3 days following O).

Good luck!
