Question on Egg release

by Lucia07, Oct 14, 2007 04:38PM
Hi girls.  I just went through my first IUI last Sunday and I'm currenlty on Clomid 100mg.  According to the Doctor I had a good size follicle on my left hand side of 20 cm (something like that) and a 15mm on the right hand side.  My thinking is most likely I would ovulate from my left side ovary because that's where the mature follicle was.  However, according to my hsg results, my left fallopian tube has a possible blockage.  Does it mean that the egg was released from the left hand side or could it have been released from the right (which is my good tumbe).  Is that possible?  I just want to make sure that if this month it doesn't work, then I'll know is because of the tube blockeage and I shold let the doctor know to give me what I need to have the right hand side follicles mature.

I don't know for sure if you ovulated on both sides or just the left.  If you had a mature follicle on both sides, they would both release but I don't know if 15mm is considered mature.  Even if 15mm isn't considered fully mature.. I think with the hcg it still would have ovulated but this is just speculation.  I really don't know for sure.

Also, I don't think there is anything they can give you that will make a follicle mature on one side instead of another.. I only have one tube, so I think my RE would have told me if they could.  They could give you more meds to make you have more mature follicles in general, but they cannot determine what side.

Agreeing with Tanker, your body just decides which ovary to use and usually takes turns with the ovaries.
