With this diagnosis I am feeling so very discouraged; my husband and I are open to adoption but I truly truly want at least one more of my own biological children.
I have an aunt who was diagnosed with very severe endometriosis and had surgery for it when she was 18; she was able to concieve 5 children and gave birth to 4. She didn't have much problems conceiving either. I would like to hope that this could be my case but considering that my husband and I have been trying for over 15 months I'm unsure.
I would love to hear back from anyone who has severe endometriosis and has been able to successfully conceive and deliver a baby. What were your experiences in trying to get pregnant, when were you diagnosed and how long did it take to get pregnant?
Hi Jill,
I'm glad to see that at least your surgery went well, since your online!
Did your Dr "clean" out your endo? & what type of cyst sis you have & size & where was it? In or on the outside of your ovary?
I have heard of MANY MANY womenWomen's way who have had babies & have endo. It's NOT impossible! & if your Dr at least cleaned some of it out then you should TTC ASAP cuz NOW you are really fertile!
I had an endo cyst 8-9 cm in my left ovary, they removed it & my left ovary & tube. My endo on & in that tube was GROSS! But my right side looked really healthy. We conceived the very next month :) but I had a missed mc @ 11 weeks {(
I have my reasons on possibly why...but thats a WHOLE other thread!!!
Don't be sadDepression, this surgery may have helped you more than you think!
Thank you for your feedback and encouragement. I'm not sure exactly how large the cyst was. Prior to the surgery I believe that the doctor said it was over 5 cm large (it had grown from 3 cm the previous month). I didn't get to talk to my doctor after the surgery, but have a follow up in 2 weeks. My father-in-law stayed with me at the hospital the whole time, and the doctor told me that the large cyst was removed but that she also found a smaller cyst that she didn't remove because she was worried about causing harm to the ovary. She (the doctor) just told my father in law that I have severe endometriosis that appears to have affected my fallopian tubes as well.
We absolutely plan on TTC asap; unfortunately we can't try again til after my follow up, which makes me miss my fertile window this month. Here is hoping for september.
Jill, if I were you I would CALL the DR & ask her ALL the questions you have! She may not be able to answer them all, she may be waiting on test results, but you need to be aggressive & proactive! She can at least explain to you about your tubes/endo she found & if she was able to clean some out, they usually can.
Also, this is just ME, but I would try BEFORE your app. IF you feel up to it. Especially if they didn't remove any organs, your body (& your YOUNG!) heal quickly!

It was just such a suprise to get this diagnosis because I don't have many of the typical symptoms like severe menstrual pain or pain with intercourse.
