I would love to join this forum. My DH and I have been ttc for 5yrs now. We have done 2 IUI that didnt work. Its been six months since the 2nd IUI and we are moving on to IVF. Its going to be our first IVF. I only just did my hormonal test yesterday and will go for the result on Monday 6/1. According to my dr, I start my injections on the 6/16. I guess that means I'm on the short protocol.
I'll let you know what else is discussed from my next dr's visit.

I didnt ask him the last time I saw him. We only talked about my fertility treatment history and I wanted a fresh hormonal test done and that day was my CD3.

4everwealth- Well, I actually start Lupron on Tuesday. That is used to stop me from Ovulating. I will stop that right before I trigger (used to make you ovulate). A lot of people refer to the injections that stimulate your eggs... as stimming. I start that around 6/15. That call last from 8-12 days... it depends on how you react.

I wish I could afford IUF

Currently hoping that Clomid will help.........
Here's my situation........

I have been trying to conceive with my fiance of two years for almost 18 months now! I have unknown infertility problems. I just finished up my first time use of Clomid! I have not had any side effects from it and I am now ovulating. Today is cd 14 and I am ovulating...this is normal for me. I get my period every 28 days and most time ovulate on day 13 or 14, usually 14.

Is there anything that you can recommend for me to do while ovulating?

The doctor is thinking of increasing my dose of Clomid from 100mgs to 150mgs if this cycle is not sucessful...does the higher the dose produce more eggs?
Also I read somewhere that the higher the dose of Clomid you are on the higher your chances are for twins or multiples.
I was told that since I do not have a family or personal history of twins that my chance is around 10%...but will that 10% increase if my dosage of Clomid increases.
I don't care if I have triplets (as long as all the babies and myself stay healthy), I just want to prepare myself for that chance. Also, I have two other children
to previous partners, ages three years old and seven years old.
My partner has two kids to previous partners and they are ages 12 and 8, we just can NOT seem to even get pregnant to one another.
I heard that prior births could cause twins to occur whie using Clomid. Is that true?
Sorry for the million questions, today is Sunday, so my doctor is NOT open or I would call. My doctor is NOT monitoring me except for me to come in on cd 22 for and altrosound to see if I am pregnant. Thanks for ANY answers you can give me.

Go back to RE on 6/6 but when the nurse called she said that we could try again with my next cycle if we were ready. (My DH couldn't understand why we couldn't start right away since my AF started right on time) So I won't know if we will try a new protocol till then. I would say it will be the same I responded well 6 retrived, 4 fertilized, 3 transfered, & 1 frozen. My sister got her BFP on her second IVF, so hopefully we get our BFP this time around. Keep me posted.

DH & I will be in close contact every month with our Doc concerning my periods. We are presently awaiting for AF to make her visit this month. Then, we will be phoning the doc to update him on the specifics of AF. Stims for me will not begin until August and DET/IVF will be set the month after that in September. This question is to those who have had an IVF done before - do you know of a protocol where you take one injection (don't know the name....yet) on CD21 and you dont take any other drug or injection for about a month, then the follies starts being monitored from then. I dont know if other drugs will be given then or not. Also if I take the injection on 6/16, ER wont be until towards end of July or so.
Help......anybody.

This was my protocol, my RE followed my natural cycle (31days). I started Lupron on the CD23, when AF arrive(3days late) I called the RE, had u/s & b/w on CD4, started gonal-f CD8 they lowered the Lupron dose at this time, u/s & b/w on CD 7 started menupor with gonal-f still on Lupron, CD 10 u/s & b/w, stopped gonal-f double dose of menupor, CD12 u/s & b/w HCG injection that night, ER on CD 15. It sounds like you are going to be on Lupron for your 1st AF cycle then with the start of your next is when you will start stimms. I hope this helped. I know how it feels to not know what is going to happen and when and the waiting is diffucult because you have waited so long with all the test and so forth to get to this point. But it seemed to me that once we started it flew by. Best of luck to you!

Hi! I also am doing IVF at the end of June. My we have been ttc for 3 years (blocked fallopian tube). My Dh and I are currently on the antibiotic z-pak. We go next Friday for our injections class and then will start injections on Saturday... I am really nervous about that! Other than that hopefully we will have the procedure done on the 27th or 29th of June... I am looking forward to reading ur stories and hearing how things are going with all of you! :o)

rachjas- I started AF the next day after I got my test results, so I expect my next to be 6/20. Go back to RE on Sat. which will be CD 17 for me so I will most likely start Lupron the following week. This is just going by my 1st IVF, RE seemed happy with the 1st cycle but won't know for sure till Sat.

4everwealth- I expect to start on Lupron around the 6/12 CD23 but as I said before I won't know for sure till Sat.

rxyrxx- Welcome to the forum. I was really nervous about the injections too so I had my husband do them the 1st day but the next day I had to do it myself it was not as bad as I thought it would be, just take a deep breath and go for it! It will all be worth it when we are all holding our baby (babies) in our arms.

4everwealth- So far, so good with the lupron. This will be my second day. I am taking 10u which seems to be the average for most. Some people take more and others take less. I have even heard of the dosage changing when you get closer to trigger.

rxyrxx- It's been great talking to you on our profiles. It seems like a lot of teacher wait to do IVF until summer. I guess it make the most sense.

fairyzduzt- Yeah! Not that long and you'll be getting started! It sooo exciting and nerve racking for me.... It seems like it's going to take forever to get there.. but I have a feeling once stimming starts it will go by fast. I have to go to the doctor almost every other day. She wants to make sure I don't overstimulate. I have mild PCOS on top of being hyprothyroid and having bad tubes (scar tissue from ruptured appendix).

I have just gone through my first IVF cycle (long protocol) and found out May 21 that we are pregnant! I actually have an app't with my Dr. this Friday for an ultrasound. I think I'm still in shock and won't really belive it until I see what's going on in there. I had 3 embryos transferred...ah! I am still on Progestrone injections and Estradiol pill every day. They said I'd be on them until about 9 weeks, and today I'm officially 6 weeks pregnant. I wish all of you much luck. This definitely is not an easy process and can be so mentally and physically draining (and not to mention, expensive!) but will all be worth it in the end!

Yes, my Dr. said my chances of getting pregnant were definitely greater if we did 3 instead of 1 or 2 (we also had 2 more frozen), so I thought "go for it" ~ maybe if nothing else, at least one will stick...I honestly don't know what my #'s are! I had blood work done on May 19th and 21st, both were positive and those #'s started in the 80's and were into the 100's by the 21st (all I know is the nurse told me anything greater than 5 was good). They haven't done anymore testing since then, just have me on the injections and going for the ultrasound in 2 days.

I have been a little crampy off and on since my embryo transfer almost a month ago, my breasts are still sore, etc. and I wonder if it's mostly due to the side effects from the meds or really from the pregnancy. I hope all is well! I will definitely keep you posted :-)

Your first IVF and you got a BFP. It makes me believe I can get pregnant with my 1st too.
Three embryos in......you could be pregnant for more than one, are you ready for twins?
Can you share with us what IVF protocol you did and if u had 3rd day ET or a 5th day transfer( blastocyst, I believe it's called).

Hi All,

I just found this forum and wanted to give you my experience with IVF thus far.

DH and I TTC since January because we found out last year our insurance would pay for 3 cycles with the new plan we took 1/1/09.  Infertility due to male factor....vasectomy 7 years ago and we opted for IVF instead of a reversal (too time consuming).

We had our 1st IVF round with 2 embies transfered on day 3 and had 1 that we could freeze.  Well, the result was BFN.  This was a short cycle.

Round 2 started 4/1/09 with BCP's then Lupron starting on 4/17/09 and stims starting on 5/7/09, retrieval was 5/20 with 18 embies and 11 fertilized.  5 day transfer of 2 great embies and my Beta is this Friday 6/5/09.

AF showed her ugly face yesterday and this happened to my the 1st cycle....3 days before my Beta.  I still have to go for my Beta this Friday "just in case" per the nurse at my RE just like last time.

If things go how I think they will then (BFN) then I will be starting round 3 the end of this month.  I don't know what the plan will be because normally after my BFN my RE calls me (sometime next week) to give me the new plan.

Ugghhhh....how frustrating!

I hope this one u'll get ur bfp! ur lucky you get to try it again! that is reassuring about the injections... since i got the meds in the mail i've been pretty freaked out about how many needles came in the box!!! I was wondering if actually was gonna have to take all those shots... i don't go to re till next friday to ask... so u gave ur own shots? I'm not sure how I want to do it... i guess after the 1st few days it should be kinda easy (at least I'm hoping)

rxyrxx- beta is what a lot of people call the blood test that do to check for pregnancy. It could qualitative or quantitative (qual. = yes/or, so basically a home preg. test.... quan. = hcg amount, normally anything above a 5 equal pregnant) ... as for 3 or 5 d transfer... it all depends on the quality of the eggs to start with.. then how they start to divide/fragment over time. It can also depend on your history.. from their experience they try to decide based on your embies where they are best suited to continue to grow.. in the petri on in you... there are so many factors. My last day of BCP is Monday. I will have been through a whole pack. I would not worry that you haven't been. Some people are on them longer that others. It can also pend on what CD you started them on. If you are still concerned.. make the call to your RE

Sorry it took so long to respond to you. This will be my fourth IVF, I had one in 2005, one in 2006, and one last August. All BFNs. I only had two transfers though since the first cycle did not yield enough embryos to transfer. Each time three day five embryos were transferred. IUI has worked better for me but we are trying IVF now since my good insurance runs out in Oct. and we want the best chance of pregnancy. My embryos are not of the best quality. That is why I think it hasn't worked. Since AF is still not here I don't think my ER and transfer will be until later July. I will go in on Monday if af hasn't showed up by then.
I wish everyone the best! I hoep to see a lot of bfps over the summer:)

Rach....yes I have taken 3 HPT and all were negative. The last one I took was Monday 6/1, but I've had AF since Tuesday and really don't seem any point in wasting a test at this point since Beta is tomorrow.

Rxyrxx.....does your RE's office have a shared risk program? My RE has this for couples that don't have insurance and it costs (I think) $20k but you get 4 or 5 cycles and if you don't get prego then they refund all $20k.

Hi, OMG, we are on the same cycle.  I started with BCP on CD 1 which was 5/17.  On 5/25, I started with Lupron 10 units daily.I stopped with BCP on 5/31.  Waiting for AF, I was told if I dont get AF by 6/4, to call.  I did call, I have bloodwork scheduled for tomorrow.  On Saturday they plan to start on Gonal F ?  I may have spelt this wrong.  I have not been given a retrieval or a transfer date.

I have a whole suitcase full of meds at home now.

I have been doing accu for the last 2 months, once a week.  This is great, it's nice to have someone to share the journey with and who understand what you are going through

kmcarino- Wow! I didn't realize you had been through that many IVFs in the past. I pray that this one is what you need to have a healthy baby. My thoughts are with your family. Stick we us here on this forum even if you IVF gets pushed back. I hope AF gets here soon!

mamom15- It seems like we are all so close in our cycles. Maybe we should keep a daily update of everyone. Like not necessarily CD.. cycle days really don't mean much to use anymore....just what were are currently doing/taking... something to make it easier for us to keep up-to-date with everyone?

kelly- well my Re's office only offers 1 that costs like 25k and then you have to pay for meds and stuff so it comes out to over 30k then they will do the refund... it gives u 6 tries I beleive (3 fresh 3 frozen) but we couldn't afford that one, we are barley affording the 1 cycle which is costing lots... ugh I wish they would have a better deals!

Is anyone on or have any of you done the antagonist protocol? I am just curious because most of you seem to be doing the lupron one... :o)

Thank you so much for your contiuous support:) I really appreciate it and I would love to join in on this forum even though my IVF is being delayed by af being delayed. I think it is a good idea to list the meds we are on and/or what we are doing in the IVF process to keep track of eachother's cycles. I will be on bcp's for maybe three weeks and will start Lupron sometime while on bcps. I am going in this afternoon (if my husband can drive me there) to find out if I ovulated yet and if the HCG level is back to zero. I hope to find out that af should be here within a few days. I guess I'll get my results tomorrow unless they do an u/s today and are able to tell by that.

Good luck to everyone! IVF is an emotional rollercoaster and we need to stick together and support each other during the whole process:)

Rach - I think it's a great idea if we can update daily.  It will help all of us understand and compare the process better, I am still clueles about the whole process and me and DH are taking 1 day at a time.  Update from me  -

On 6/4 - Lupron reduced to 5 units
Starting 6/6 - 6/8 - Gonal F  - 150 units/ day

Most likely my retrieval will be between June 17 - 19, and I will have  a 3 day transfer.  I am a little bummed because a 5 day blast is much better than a 3 day blast I have been told by other people.

Well, I'm happy to say that AF came today. :-/ (That's 1/2 smile and 1/2 frown.) Stimms will begin in August, for me, and IVF, God willing, in September. I'm still currently trying to lose weight from the last chemical-pregnancy, in which I was told my body built-up anti-bodies and destroyed the 3 embies, so far, I've lost 10 lbs. in 3 wks. I just got a job offer, 2 days ago, and I begin training on the 17th. I will be training to work with DES Child & Family Resources. DH and I will be opening up our home to children in need ages: birth-17 yrs. of age. I will pop in from time to time. I love all of the successful stories and even if we don't make it, the 1st time, keep trying. God knows DH & I will try at least 2 more times if need be. Take care all & keep the faith. O:-)

Hello Ladies,
Glad to see so many of you have started your journies. I saw the RE on Sat. I will be on 10u of Lupron for the whole stimm. process because when they decreased it my last cycle my LH levels didn't stay suppressed so I will be starting Lupron on 6/12 AF should arrive that following week then gonal-f on CD 3.

Mamom- Alot of RE don't like to do a 5 day transfer unless there are lots of embies because if they don't make it to 5 days you don't even get to transfer. There are just as many pregnancies with 3 day as 5 day so don't get bummed.

Rach- I like the idea of keeping track of where everyone is.

Update -

I strated with Gonal F (Bravelle) on 6/6 150 mg.  This one really stings.  I am taking the shots around my navel area and have run out of room.  We asked our nurse if I can switch to the butt side but was told no as the navel area is the best.  I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this but I have had a wicked headache since I got on Lupron.  I am living on a diet of shots and Tylenol.
rxyrxx919 - Congratulations on your new job.  It's wonderful that you can help children in need.
fairyzduzt - Thanks , you have been through this so it helps to hear from you.  I am also 39 yrs so that could be a valid reason for a 3 day transfer
Rach - Do you have any side effects from Lupron ?  How is it going ?
kmcarino and Kelly - I know waiting for AF is hardbut it will be here soon and you can start your BCP

You're welcome! I'm just trying to be positive toward everything DH & I are doing and have been through since this journey began. I know many on here are in the same boat. We have 2 strikes against us: my age and our income. In February, we had the $$$$, but AF didn't make an appearance in Feb, nor Mar. So, AF decided to visit me on the 2nd of April w/med help. DH & I left our jobs on March 10 requiring us to use our saved-up $$$$, for jr., for mortgage, groceries, bills, etc., instead. DH is on his 4th wk, at his new job, but I still am not bringing any sort of income in. My $$$$ is usually for jr. and whatever else we need to do w/it: vehicle maintenance/repairs, household items, shoes, clothes, you know, out of the ordinary necessities. The thing is, we had a BFP, but it turned into a CP. My body destroyed the embies. Dr. Q had to make me a vaccine from DH's blod and inject both my arms twice w/them. Dr. Q tells us that I will have to undergo another series of the vaccine during stimms/prep and after the nxt DET to insure that my body doesn't build up anti-bodies and destroy the embies as foreign objects, again. We weren't aware of how long we'd have to wait, but w/my period screwing up for 2 mos., and the $$$$ issue(s), we are shooting for September DET #2 God willing. We just want to help out unfortunate children and take care of them while directing them toward a better way of life. Is Bravelle different from the Gonal F pen?  I have taken the Gonal F using the pen a lot and it was very easy and painless most of the time.  I always injected it in my upper thighs.  The navel area was an option too but the thigh worked very well for me.  With my last IVF cycle, I took Gonal F and Menopur(this one really stings and burns)  I had my husband give the Menopur to me in my butt and I barely felt it so it worked very well.  Maybe Bravelle is like Menopur?  The nurses at my clinic told me it was fine to inject the Menopur in the backside.  I hope you are able to do something different that will make it less painful.  And yes, Lupron did give me headaches so that is normal and it stinks but it won't last forever.  It hink they get better once your body gets used to the Lupron.

A Muse4u-  I am sorry that you had to go through all of that.  It is wonderful of you to help unfortunate kids:)  We need more people like you in the world.

As for me, I have been very crampy since yesterday morning and af is still not here but I think it is coming.  Last Friday afternoon, I went in for b/w and found out that I did ovulate, so I was happy since af should be coming at some point, and also that my HCG level is 4.8.  It took two weeks for that level to go from 14 to 4.8.  The nurse said it should not prevent my af from coming.  I am very anxious to get it so I can finally have a plan as to when things are going to happen.  I will still have to have a sonohysterogram done before Luypron shots can be started.  I pray to God that my sono is clear.  I think it should be here by tomorrow morning...we'll see.

Hi there, I haven't posted any news because I haven't gone back to see the doctor yet. I have to get some medical information from my other clinic and until I get those results to my present doctor, I wont know whether I will be starting the IVF treatment or not. I hope I get to do the IVF though.

All - I have been reading all your posts and to those of you who have started your IVF journey, I wish you the best. To those of you waiting for AF, I know it can be a hard time but hang in there. Yes, Bravelle is a gonadotrophin and per my nurse I have to continue with the stomach. What we women have to go through but it is all worth it. I am willing to go through anything for that BFP.

First I will start with my own update, I am no longer on antibiotics, I will take my last bcp tomorrow and go to the Re Friday to learn how to do the injections which start on Saturday... I want to thank u all for sharing all of your stories! I've been reading along although kinda quietly :o) Many of you have been through sooo much and I feel so much sympathy for you!!! Some of you are also doing great things to help others :o)
So this week, I've been pretty emotional about this process for some reason. I've been looking forward to doing IVF for years now and now that it's finally about to happen its sooo scary! I'm sure it's a little anxiety of getting shots for a few weeks and being worried about what if it doesn't work, and now I'm a little worried if I'm on the right protocol... but I've been kinda sad or worried (maybe a better word) lately... :o( I just had to vent to you guys since my family doesn't understand they just think IVF is a for sure thing (just like the whole having a baby and it will happen when I'm not stressed, don't tihnk about it etc.I'm sure you all have heard all of it before too). My dh doesn't like to see me obsessed over this IVF process but I just can't help it, it is totally consuming my life this month... Well thx for letting me vent & read ur stories daily :o) Sorry I went on forever!

I just wanted to share the outcome of my success story so far ~ as I've written before, this is my first IVF cycle. I went to the doctor last Friday for my first post op app't and ultrasound to find that I am pregnant with twins! And they both have heartbeats already! OMG, I can't even tell you how blessed we feel. I was kind of preparing for the worst in my mind and couldn't even look at the monitor at first. And then I was just in shock...the even better news is that when you have a heartbeat the chances of miscarriage go down to about 5%, so that makes me a little more relaxed.

Good luck to all of you and I pray things work in one way or another. This process is so draining and takes so much out of us. But, we're women and can handle just about anything. I'm not sure the guys could handle it! LOL

Lots and lots of positive thoughts and lots of baby dust to you all!!!

rxyrxxx- I forgot how close we are in our cycles! My last BCP and anitibiotic was last night! My stims start Monday as long as b/w and u/s are good. I totally understand what you are saying. This process is emotionally, mentally and physically tough. But, it's alllll going to be worth it.. when we get a BFP....when we get to hold our babies in our hands. I am trying to stay calm. STRESS is not good. I am applying to grad. school right now. I asked the princpal at my school to write a Letter of Recom. a month ago... still no letter..not even after I emailed and asked again last week.... I am trying to get that taken care of before stimming starts.. Stuff like that, we shouldn't be worrying about right now. We need to relax (along with our DH)... we want our bodies to produce perfect eggs.. and we want our bodies to be perfect envirnoment when the embies are put back in...As for the shots.... I am nervous to. Hopefully your appt. Friday will ease things up. I go Monday at 1pm for a refresher and that night I have to complete my first stim. I have been doing the lupron for a week...easy!!!! I am just worrired about the mixing part for my follistim/repronex... PIO shots... grr... I am really nervous about those!

All- I am off to Cleveland OH. DH & I are taking a mini-trip before the madness begins later then week when AF hopefully shows. After she shows, I will be at the RE every other day almost. RE wants to keep a close eye on me due to my mild PCOS. She doesn't want me to overstimulate.

We are going to the Indians vs. KC game and tmw AM we going to go to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Even though we live in Ohio, it's a 4+hr drive. Talk to you all soon!

Hello,

I went for my 1st b/w this morning.  Should get an update by afternoon.  Just a tip/suggestion.  This works for me.  My husband ices the area for a while before giving me the shot.  This helps a lot in making it numb and taking the pain off.  I think I have another 10 days of shots.
Rach - Have fun at the game.  We returned froma vaction 10 days ago and it has helped me a lot.  I don't know what the final results will be but it certainly took the anxiety off.  So have fun and enjoy the sunshine.
rxyrxx919 - I understand what we are going through.  I try and stay realistic (more on the pessimist side as I don't want my hopes up) but every one else thinks this is a sure shot thing.   A lot of pressure.  I do try and stay positive, I have not discusesd with co workers or anyone other than immedeate family.  Th emore I talk the more I think about it.

I am finally CD1 and will start bc pills on Friday. I go in for my sono on Monday. If everything is clear I will start Lupron a little later in the cycle. I am so relieved to finally have af.
IVF really does consume your life-I don't know how anyone could go through it and NOT have it consume your life. That is what is so hard about it. I also ice my backside for the progesterone shots which is great because I don't feel any pain at all. IVF does have great success rates, but I am cautious since my eggs are not of great quality like most people my age. Good luck to everyone!!

rxy- I understand what you are feeling,nervous, anxious, worried,( these are just to name a few) it is hard to go thru IVF because we don't know what the outcome will be & anyone who has not been thru what we are going thru doesn't understand how emoitonal the whole process is. Try to relax and if you get a BFP the 1st time around that is wonderful, but if not, don't look at it as a failure look at it as a learning process so you will be closer to a BFP the next time.

We all have to remember that our bodies may not respond to the meds the way we hope and that it may take more than once to achieve our BFP , just like when naturally TTC. So don't stress ( this is not good for us during this time!!) and try and focus on what we already have. Take care everyone and try not to STRESS OUT!

mamom: that's  a good idea to ice the area before the shots!  Do you do it before all of your shots?   My dh likes to be realistic too, he rather think it probably won't work where I'm so the opposite and I know I shouldn't.  He worries that I'm to optimistic!  So you only have 10 more days of shots before the transfer? That's cool, almost done.  You're pretty close to my cycle... a little ahead of me.

fairy:  Ya, I'm trying to keep busy and not stress ;o)  It's been a little hard because I'm a teacher and have been off of work for a few weeks with nothing to do!  I wanted to summer school but my dh would rather me take it easy this summer so I'm trying to find things to do everyday... :o)  So you start lupron next week?  Is that a pill or a shot?  I'm not doing lupron so I was just curious :o)

Yes, it does seem strange being anxious for af to come for once:) The sono is a sonohysterogram (I think this is how it's spelled). He just uses a speculum, injects some kind of a saline solution and checks to see how my uterus looks, to see if there is any scar tissue or anything that would hurt my chances at conception. At my clinic they have us have a sono once a year. Last year he foudn that I had scar tissue so I had to have a hysteroscopy done to remove it before ttc. I pray to God that everything is clear for me to go ahead with my IVF cycle. Good luck at your appt.

rxy - Yes, DH ice's the area before all shots. BTW, if you are going to start doing Gonal shots in addition to Lupron shots after you get your AF, I would suggest you combine the 2. Yesterday my Gonal shot was increased to 187 ml but the nurse suggested that we combine Lupron with Gonal F. This helped a lot instead of 2 shots I am getting 1. Don't stress try Yoga and accu. I know I am trying to stay realistic but it is hard. It's easy to get depressed 9atleast for me) so I am trying to stay on my usual schedule, visit the gym every day. I was told not to swim but I am on the elliptical for an hour. My accu therapist told me not to increase my heart rate over 120, no running and no ab exercises because the ovaries are going to grow 10 times. Good luck with everything

Thanks for explaining what a sono is. I think it's a good thing the sono is done once a year, alot can change in a year. I understand being anxious about the result since a scar was seen the last time but this is praying for you that all is clear so you can go ahead with the IVF.

I should see the dr tomorrow 6/11 and I hope it will be all system go for me to start the IVF treatment next week 6/16. I will let you know.

Thanks:) This is actually going to be my fourth IVF cycle. My most recent one was last Ausut and I had one in 2005 and one in 2006. Out of the three cycles, I only had two transfers and I did nto get pregnant. I am trying IVF one last time since my good insurance will be out in Oct.
I hope you are able to start your IVF treatment next week as planned. Good lucka t your appt. I had b/w and an u/s today and I do not have any cysts so that is good and my lining looks good. I will get the b/w results back tomorrow. I just hope my HCG level is less than zero so that I can move forward. I am most nervous about the sono on Monday. Thanks for your kind words.

I've only been away for a couple of days, due to some broken/busted blood-vessels in my rht-eye for lack of sleep for 2 days, and everything on here is veRy inspiring and beautiful!  I haven't been straining my eye to read, watch t.v., etc. until today.  I didn't know you all had sO much to say.

I'll be buzzing around here from time to time.  My eye hurts in an itchy sort of way and it has this bloody-red splotch in the rht-bttm corner.  Ugh!  I hate it!  I got less than my 8 hrs of sleep Mon & Tues night.  My rht-sprained ankle is all healed up and better, though.  I'm back in cardio training, again, and it feels good to lose 15 lbs in 4 wks.  I'm trying to lose 20-30 more b4 I get pregnant in September.  Hopefully happilymarried1 BD will work on me and help me b blessed this year more than I usually am.  Please, God, hear our prayers, Amen.  O:-)

As for me, the doctor wants me to start the bc pills on Saturday in stead of Friday. I have my calendar all mapped out and am so excited to have my plan set. If the sono is clear on Monday, which they expect it to be, I'll start Lupron 10iu on June 28. My last bc pill on July 3rd. I will go in on the 6th or 7th of July and will start Gonal 300 and Menopur 75iu on the 9th. My retrieval will probably be July 22nd and the transfer either the 25th or the 27th. How exciting! I just want Monday to be over so I know everything is ok in there.

Fourth IVF.......all I can say is you are a strong woman or should I write a woman of strength and u know what, you are going to get ur BFP sooner than you think.....your faith will make it happen. I'm so glad you have your timetable all set and as for the sono, you'll see that it will just be a formality coz nothing is going to stop this IVF protocol for you. This is sending BD your way.

Pauline - Welcome!! We are all here for you. Can you share with all of us the protocol you went through and the drugs you took? This is wishing you BFP. :)

Hi guys!  I want to join the club too! :)  We are going for our fist IVF in June.  I am waiting for my AF to begin any day and then BC on day 5.

We have had 3 IUI's with one resulting in pg, that ended with MC at 6 wk.  :(    I have really been taking this past month off to do some fertility yoga, could not do accu because my doc said do not do anything new (I hope the yoga was OK) and just trying to not get stressed.

After my MC, I was in such a bad place emotionally and mentally.  I had gotten myself to such a good place and now the IVF is coming up, I'm starting to get a little nervous.  I will just have to work this out.

Is it painful at all?  I do remember when doing the IUI's how the shots can make you feel so bloated.  I am really trying to watch my sodium and stay active.  I will be checking in with you all.

Just curious, we used Ascend pharmacy for our IUI meds.  They had the best prices.  Has anyone else found a better place to buy?

fariyzduzt- If you don't mind me...just wondering.. why did the lupron start have to be moved back? Scheduling?

piggy2- I am sooo sry for all that you have been through. I also have a MC after an IUI. Mine was at 5w6d in March. Since then, we tried a new oral med. but I only produced one follie and it was on my 'bad' side (blocked tube). We decided to not do the IUI that cycle. Now, we are moving on. RE is very concerend with ectopic for me. Hopefully, this will due the trick. I think you are on the right track... relax, start active during stimming (my RE told me walking or swimming---I think yoga would be fine!) and watch for OHSS (over stimulation). I too used Ascend. I got great bargains from them. I have never used another Pharmacy, so I really don't have anything to compare them to. Welcome to the board!

Pauline- Nope, don't give up! It's always best to use FMU when testing. Especially this early on. Do you think you will test again before your beta?

Pauline- You defintley tested to early your beta is still 6 days away. If you want to test again I would wait till a day or 2 before your beta.Praying for you to get a BFP!

Piggy- I did not find any of the IVF process to be painful (very bloated though) but I was very sore after retrivial. I am so sorry for your loss but am glad to hear you are healing and ready to take the next step. I used Burman's Pharmacy in PA I' not sure if they will be cheaper for you but I will give you their web site anyway (www.burmanspharmacy.com) Do you take a class for the fertility yoga or do you have a DVD? My RE has cut my exercise back, I do mostly strength training, so I have been looking for something else to do besides jogging.

Rach- Of course I don't mind, we are all here because we are in the same boat (so to speak) learn from each other and be each others rock thru our journies.My lupron was pushed back because RE wanted to start closer to the end of my cycle which is 31 days so I will be starting on 6/16 which will be CD27.

Rxy- How did your injection teaching class go? Are you feeling confident in doing them?

I wish I had any story to share with you all. Everyone seems to have started, except me. I really I'm worried about what kind of protocol my dr is going to do with me coz I wasnt placed on BCP!!! Who is to say I'm not pregnant right now.
I know I've been writing this for awhile now, but I really should know by tomorrow for sure if I'm even going to be starting the IVF treatment or not.

fairy - the class went good... they went over it real quick and sent us home with a cd that also explains it all...I think it is pretty easy.  we started stims yesterday & it wasn't as bad as I thought :o)  Good thing my mind went all crazy worrying about getting injections everyday it prepared me for the worst which actually turned out not so bad :o)

Piggy - I'm sorry for what you've been thru!  I know how hard it is!!! we are all here for you :o)

Rach - so you start stims on Monday?  Do all protocols do the same stims?  I am on follitism in the morning (on my thigh) and menopur in the evening (in belly).  So I'm not sure if I knew u had a blocked tube... I have a blocked tube also & when we would do our IUI's my blocked side always had way more follicles than my other side which was always such a disappointment!

Pauline - don't give up yet!  When is your beta scheuled?  I bet ur testing to soon!

4ever - I was always worried about the protocol that my re has me on also becuase everyone on here is doing lupron and I didn't do lupron so I think you should ask tomorrow when you go in why you aren't doing bc just so you know why they didn't put you on it.  By the time I found out that there were different protocols it was too late for me to ask becuase all my meds were purchased and I was already started on some medication... So hopefully he knows what he's doing :o)

4everwealth- A lot of ppl don't do BCPs before IVF. It depends on the protocol you are doing. Hope that tmw brings you answers!

rxy- Yep, I start them Monday night. There are tons of different meds. Some are FSH and others are LH. People take different amounts at differnt times. Mine will only be at night. Again, it goes back to the RE and what protocol you are on.

Hi All

Sorry, I took the weekend off.  An update - my stims and shots are working for me on Day 12 my estradiol level has gone up to over 1500 and I have 14 measurable follies, 3 of them over18 mm, which is a good thing (so they say but I am sure doesn't mean much).  My retrieval date is still not confirmed but will be sometime this week.

fairy - Thanks for asking, I have not had much side effects, a little bit of bloating and a sore belly from all the shots.  I have been going for b/w and u/s daily.

4everwealth - Good luck with your appt.  Keep us updated.

Pauline - I think you tested too soon.  Do it a day before the beta.  Good luck!!
Piggy - Welcome, I have been through a mc and I know how painful it is.

This is an emotional roller coaster.  It is so hard because this is the only time in life I feel I have no control over anything.  In all other situations in life I could work on a solution to succeed but this time I have to let fate take over.

mamom - I'm glad your stims are working for you!!! I just started Saturday and hoping we are doing everything right :o) How exciting that your retrieval date is for this week! I am getting a little anxious for this week to be over so I can do mine next week :o) So thx for the advice on icing the spot where I get the shot, it has worked out really good and made the shots waaaay more bearable! :o)

I am so glad icing has helped you. It has helped me. BTW, when you go for your first u/s remeber you may have a lot of follies but unless they are 12mm and more they will not tell you. They do not do retrieval until the follies measure 18 mm and more. I am sure you know all this stuff but I thought I would share. I am learning something new everyday :). Good luck with the shots. Yippee!! I got news: I take my first injection tomorrow and that marks the start of my IVF journey. I'm excited. :)

rxyrxx - Like you you rightfully wrote, there are different protocols. I sort of knew that before but got worried when it looked like I would be doing one so different. I asked alot of questions and I can comfortably say, the dr seem to know what he's doing. Dont worry, before you know it, it will be time for your retrieval. Baby dust!!!

So here is my protocol: Zoladex taken on CD21,date 6/16 , this injection is taken once and I dont go back until 7/14. Then I will be on Menopur and/or suprefact for about a week or so. Retrievel should be sometime at the end of July. The Zoladex injection is going to be given on my abdomen. This is going to be the first for me, I hope I dont freak out. At the moment, I am researching my protocol and would appreciate any information from you all.

rach - You can update the info on my schedule to Zoladex 6/16, can you tell I'm excited? :) How are you doing? Are you ready for your stimming injections? Do you prefer taking the drugs at night? Any side effects from the drugs you've taken so far? My dr said even though Zoladex can cause hot flushes, alot of patients dont complain. So, I'm hoping I hardly feel any side effect but respond well. Good luck with the stims.

mamom15 - 3 follies over 18mm is good!! Remember, you only need THE one. Remain positive, more of those follies will get bigger. We are all here for you, let us know when your dr decides on your retrieval date. Good luck and here's sending lots of baby dust your way.

Pauline - How are you doing? Are you being strong and not testing until closer to your beta? This is wishing you a BFP! :)

I am starting IVF cycle this month. Been taking Synaral nasal spray to downregulate and am now waiting for the call from the nurses telling me when to start my Gonal F injections.

DH and I did IVF last year and the first time worked and we now have a son so I am very nervous about this one as my hopes are high.

I really need the support.

rxy- Next week is the week for the both of us. Just like mamom said.. this journey is emotional. I can't wait to start stims tonight. It seems like things are really getting started now... even though we have been preparing for 1 1/2 months! Have you had b/w and/or u/s yet? Or, when do you? Thanks for updating today!

4ever- BCP (no side effects just spotting off and on) Doxycycline (antibiotic, no side effects) Lupron (no side effects until the last few days... just a mild, constant headache). I am so excited to start stims to night. I will be doing follistim 150iu and repronex 75iu. I had a refresher appt. with my nurse today on how to mix my meds. So, I am ready to go... 8:30 et is when we decided to do mine. My protocol calls for night for my follicle stimulating meds, but my lupron is in the AM.

anetski- Of course you can join! I am so glad to hear you success story about your son! And on try number 1?!?! Are you doing the same protocol this time? We are here for you! I am starting my stims tonight. My ER is scheduled for 6/25. But, of course, that depends on my E2 and ultrasound results!

Thanks for welcoming me.

I am doing exactly the same as first time. Gonal F 112.5 units and will have one 5day blast egg transfered (if I get one that is...fingers crossed). Here in OZ they are very strict on how many eggs are transfered. I think they would only ever do 2 at the most. My doc will only transfer 1 egg as the chances of implantation only goes up by 2-3% but it increases the chances of multiples instead. I would love to get more than 2 transfered but he wont do it and I don't want to press my luck.

I am excited and scared at the same time. The first time I was sure it hadn't worked as they had prepared me that it doesn't always work the first time and now that it did I am scared to get my hopes up too high.

I can't wait to get pregnant again. It is the most magical thing. I hope this to happen to all of us very soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anetski - Welcome.  I am sure this too it will work the first time.  I have been told the same thing that it may not work the first time because of chemicals in the body so I am not getting my hopes up.

kmcarino - good luck starting with Lupron on the 28th.  Lupron was not bad at all , Gonal F stings a lot.  At least for me.  I am willing to go through any pain now just to have a child.  This whole process has certainly made me very tolerant of pain and I am sure that this pain is nothing like childbirth.  Just trying to put things in perspective :)

Update - I got my Ovidrel shot last night at 11 pm and my retrieval is scheduled for tomorrow at 11 am.  I stopped taking Lupron and Brevelle since last night.  Please wish me luck and pray for me.

For me, once I started with Lupron shots, I felt my journey had begun at that point and it just flew by so fast.

Anetski - Welcome to the forum. Your success story on your first IVF is such an encouragement to me. This is my first IVF. I have my hopes high for a BFP, I cant help myself.

mamom - Good luck tomorrow. I wish I could be there with you tomorrow. Everything will go well. I read your post in the "I am annoyed..." forum and I understand exactly how you feel. You might have noticed I wrote some post to that forum too and venting really helped me. I'll be praying for you.

km - So glad the sono was clear. And dont worry, 28th will be here sooner than you think.

rach - Some drug cocktail you have to take there....glad you are doing good. I dont start stimming until the 7th of July. Let us know how it all goes with your blood work. Do you know how long you might have to take the stimming drugs?

rxy - You are right, the injection on my tummy wasnt so bad but the size of the needle totally freaked me out. But I left the screaming and squarming to my DH.

So, I got jabbed with Zoladex today and after seeing the size of that needle, I'm glad I dont have to take another jab until the 7th of July when I start stimming.

mammom15:  My appt was cnclld.  Dr. Q had 2go2 surgery due2 1of his patients having an ectopic pregnancy.  I had to re-schedule for today.  :(

4everwealth:  Thx for the congrats & good-luck wishes.  My eye is almost all cleared up.  Maybe in a couple of days, it will be back to normal.  I just have a speck of red, now, not a big splotch anymore.  :)

My niece past away last night and I want be there for my sister and IVF is so time consuming, and I don't think I would have a positive attuide right now, so I discussed it with my DH ( what a wonderful support system he is ) and we agreed it would be best to wait.So I wil be starting again with my cycle in July. anetski - when is your estimated retrival date?  Where is that shot done?  There is 1 shot I'm pretty scared of too but that isn't one I do for a while, it's on my lower back & from the video looks scary!

So here's my update, went to Re today and had u/s and b/w done.  They said everything looked great (follicles were looking good, I guess) and to contiune my menopur and follistim today and tomorrow and start ganarelix tomorrow night along with the others.  So after I got home from dr. office I had to give myself the shot of follistim because Dh was at work and had to miss the apt (1st time ever, so I was nervous!)  They didn't want me to take it before I went in so I was a little scared of doing it by myself cuz usually I don't watch him do it, so that was horrible.  Then a little later I got a message on my phone that my estradiol levels were real high and I need to start the ganarelix today instead... not sure what that means but now I'll be doing that tonight as well... agh 2 shots in my belly tonight!!!

So I also have to decide if I want to freeze the embryos after (if there are any good ones to freeze that is)  The dr is highly recommending it but I'm a little ify cuz it's kinda a lot of money to freeze and store them... but on the other hand to do a frozen cycle would be like waaaaay cheaper to try next time so I don't knowl.... if this does work (hopefully) we could also just use it again next year but I don't know!!! is anyone else thinking about freezing them if there are any to freeze?

I guess the internet says that the ganarelix is supposed to help it go down but I'm a little worried until I can call tomorrow and see what it means... ugh!!!

rachjas0623, rxyrxx919 - I haven't been told my retrieval date yet but I think it will be 14 days from now. They only do it 3 days a week.

For my first IVF they got 19 eggs, 10 fertilised but only 1 made it to day 5. I was so upset but then it only took one egg and now we have a son so...

This time I hope we will have some to freeze so I don't have to go through stimming and retrieval next time.

I am so excited to start and the prospect of getting pregnant. I really hope it will happen this time. Lets get it on!!!!!!!!!!!

RE appt went better than expected.  Dr. Q said I'm good2 go!  He said everything is perfect and he's been preparing me since my AF came down w/2mg Estradiol twice a day, everyday, one in the morn & 1 in the eve.  Now, I have to take 1 in the morn & 2 in the eve and Progesterona 200 mg 2x's every 12 hrs.  Next appt is on Thurs.  Dr. Q wants to see DH, for sperm deposit, & me so he can take blood from DH & make my vaccine & inject it into me.  This means we will be having our IVF/DET this mo.  It took me & DH by surprise, bc we wanted to save a lil more $$$$.  Dr. Q said we could make pymnts as long as we give him 1/2 of the IVF pymnt.  He's willing to work out a pymnt schedule agreement w/us.  Now, we have to raise, at least, $1000 in 2 days.  We need a miracle, but we're willing to try.  That's all we can do.

The reason y Dr. Q is saying everything is perfect & ready/prepared is bc of the egg-donor.  It looks like we'll b in the 2ww . soon.  Please, send us some more BD.  We feel scared & excited at the same time.

Hello, I am new to this post I just wanted to say hi and that I am starting my first round of IVF on June 20th. I will start 10units of Lupron and then add 150iu Puregon & 75iu of menopur on July 4th. I am really looking forward to being pregers it just seems like everyone around me has babies or is pregnant :) I just had my first u/s with saline solution and he says everything looks good. My right ovary is not that great due to surgery that I had years ago but my left is awesome, I saw all the follicles it was so cool...I hope some of you are starting at the same time as i would love to share experiences....baby dust

hey everyone

Had my fist injection yesterday. DH did it but only kept the needle in for 3 seconds after so a drop of the meds came out. I freaked.

It is not going to make any difference right? I know it is silly it was only one drop but I feel everything is so delicate that small things suddenly become huge.

My ER will hopefully be in 2 weeks time. approx 30June.

That is to cute, and you are right every thing is just so a drop would freak me out to :) So you say count longer my nurse told me three seconds after i was done injecting but she did tell me to let go of the skin then count the three seconds maybe he didn't let go of the skin and squished a little out. I start on sat :) I am glad you said it was not painful I am going to try to do it myself :) we will see how that goes as i am kinda scared of needles.

Headaches have already started. I can take the hot flushes but headaches are bad.

Ok, here is my latest...

AF started!!-but here's the bad news... well kind of.  I called my MD's office and they said, great start taking BC pills and we will see you on July 9th.  hello?  what?  Did you say July 9th?  You have got to be kidding I said, but the RN said no, the MD is going out of town the last week, so the earliest we can get you in is July the 9th!  That is almost 3 weeks away.

I am trying to stay calm.  I got myself on the cancellation list.  So, they also said they will do a 'mock run"?  I just want to know when I am getting my darn IVF!!  I know patience is a virtue, but don't they know women like us do not have patience any more?

So, what you have no control over, I guess you cannot really fret about.  I will use this time to keep doing my yoga, taking my prenatals and DHA and meditate!!

BTW-has anyone gotten headaches from these darn BC pills?  I have not taken them for YEARS and I have a raging HA today.  (day 2 on BC)

Hello - the last 2 days have been a roller coaster ride for me.

On Wed they retrieved 12 embies and all looked great and we were excited.
Thursday morning I received a phonecall from my clinic to say that only 1 fertilized and if we would like to do ICSI. they checked with our insurance and our insurance will not approve last minute ICSI as the clinic should have done tests for that and got us pre approved. So we had to cough up $2500 in a minutes notice (not happy) and my transfer is at 11:30 am on Saturday. I will be working from home on Monday so a couple of days rest for me

piggy- I know what you mean about logging onto this site... it's totally addicting! I really need to take a break for a few days.. I want to be as relaxed as possible for ER and ET coming up! I am glad AF showed up. And, it stinks that you have to wait that long to see your RE. But, by the time you do.. it will be about time to start the next step in the cycle... so that's good!

mamom15- I am glad ER went well for you! I am so sorry that you had to front money for emergency ICSI. But, I am sure it was well worth it. Have you heard how many more may have fertilized? I will be thinking of you tmw! How many do you plan to put back in?

Hi -Yes, keeping my fingers and toes crossed. We had 2 more fertilized. They will transfer 3 tmw. I am so excited. On retrieval day I did not feel a thing, I was knocked out hoping to get knocked up - lol. I am this is it for us, btw before your retrieval buy a large bottle of Tylenol extra strength. I need it, even oday and lots of benefiber. Just sharing the tips I learned on my journey

mamom- how exciting, that you have 3 to transer!!! Good luck tmw! We are doing icsi also, but our insurance didn't pay for anything! ugh so this is probably it for us if it doesn't work!

Rach- so I don't know my nubmers but they just tell me it's good, my follicles are growing nicely and my estrogen levels keep going up so they have just lowered my doses of menopur and follistim... but the b/w daily is pretty horrible! My arms are all bruised up, I can only imagine what people think :o) How are things going with you? They told me today they are looking at a ER day as Tuesday or Wednesday but I'll know more Sunday.

stressed118 - called the ivf clinic re. injections and they said to count to about 5 and when taking the needle out just gently let go of the skin.

Headaches have come for me. I try and drink more water but doesn't seem to help. Great.

Mamon - so nervous of the egg retrieval. My first they got 19 egg but at the end we only had one good one. what if none survive this time. So scared. That would just be horrible.

I have an us tomorrow and hoping all is well. I began stims on 6/13. I am feeling quite icky. I hope follicles have grown. I went to dr on 6/18 and had follicles ranging from 8-11. Dr told me to take more meds. I hope they are bigger tomorrow.

piggy2- Yes, I have been having headaches too and I just started the bc pills last Saturday. I also haven't taken bc pills for a while. I also feel more tired than usual too. I hope that with time, the headaches will go away for both of us. Good luck:)

I am so glad to be apart of such an inspirational and positive community! My DH and I have a DS who is 4 and we have had many IUI's that have not worked and one that sadly ended in a mc at 6 wk. We just finished our first attempt at IVF, had our ET on 5/28 and we found out we were preggos last week...but sadly enough..looks like it is ending in another mc=( but we are still hopeful and going to eventually try again! I wish all of the summer cycle buddies (both chlomid & IVF) the best of luck and I will keep you all in my prayers. My DF went through IVF with me and she is expecting twins...so there is always a happy ending somewhere! Sad and frustrated, but extremely hopeful! Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo

anetski:  I did my own injections, last yr.  I too had about 3 drops leak down when DH did it for me.  That's why I began injecting myself.  The most difficult part was when I pulled the needle out.  I had to hold the cotton swab to the injection site, while pulling the needle out.

mamom15:  It lOOks like we'll both be in the 2ww . together.  Lots of baby dust2u2.

We got the $$$$ together & saw RE on Thurs.  RE said we'll be getting a call on Mon or Tues for DET/IVF.  I'm sO thrilled, I get dizzy and feel like I'm on the best drugs I've ever taken in my entire life.  WeiRd, but true.  DH is, from my observations, nervous, paranoid, and scaRed.  I think he's worried about the turnout and the emotional-stress ride.  We really pray this is it.  We have 2 DE this time that will be transferred after fertilization.  We're praying they both stick and mature to a normal pregnancy/delivery.  ~~**BABY**DUST**BABY**DUST**BABY**DUST**~~

Here's an update:  I got my vaccine, from DH's blood, injected 2x's in both arms.  Ouch!  They sting!  I was told not to rub, scrub, wash, touch, scratch, or add any lotion to the areas for 5 days.  This is the 2nd time I've had this vaccine.  I need to receive another vaccine on the day of the transfer, also.  We're both so excited and anxious about the call.

hey

Is anyone else having headaches? It is normal with Gonal F right? I did take that last time too but don't remember the headaches being this bad.

How many egg's will you all get transfered if possible?

I am turning 33 next month and doctors here in Australia will only ever transfer 2. That is if you have failed IVF attempts otherwise they will only do 1. I want to ask for 2 but I know he will say no as he is against risking twins. The experts here say putting more than 1 egg in doesn't increase chances of implantation, only the chance of multiples.

What have you guys been advised? 1, 2 or 3 eggs?

I can't wait for retrieval. Hopefully in another week.

Anetsk . My doctor wanted to put 2 back in but he let me do 3.

I spoke to my doctor today regarding my beta it was negative. But he wants me to go in on Tuesday for another Beta. I said there is still a chance it happens to 1 out every 10 women. Has this ever happened to anyone?

anetski - Only one embryo! Even in Nigeria where women give birth to multiples naturally, atleast 2 embryos are transfered in an IVF cycle. My dear DH & I chose to transfer 2 but had the choice of max. of 3. Whether you know ur dr will not agree to transfering 2 embryos, you still should try to convince him to do that since it's what you desire. It might be hard to be positive sometimes, but try to be. Remember how THE one embryo worked in your 1st IVF? This cycle will go well too, stop worrying.

Hello Ladie, I see alot of you are moving full steam ahead, that is wonderful. Hoping all of you get a BFP. RN called yesterday and said to still call when I get AF and I will be schedual to come  in on CD 3 or 4 then a mock transfer around CD 17 with start of Lupron around CD 22, this should put me at ER at the beginning of August. Hoping this is all a sign since Aug. 25 is my anniversary ( 9 yrs.) It would be the best gift ever for both of us.

Welcome all newcomers- Hope your find lots of support and info on this forum there are  alot of great ladies here. Lots of luck on journies.

Piggy- I sound you and I will be close in our cycles. A mock run is to see if they will be able to reach your uterus with ease and helps them decide where they will place your embies at transfer. I had it done with my first IVF and will be having it done with this cycle also. I know waiting is a real downer but it will be worth it.

Pauline - you may just have a late implanter, don't lose hope yet. sounds like your RE hasn't.

Anetski- I also had headaches on gonal-f but when they lowered my dose the were not as bad. I  had 3 embies transfered at day 3. I am assuming that it will be the same with this cycle as I will be 36 in a few months. Every clinic has their owm protocol on how many they will transfer. Best of luck to you.

Mona- you think the ER & ET take long wait till you hit the dreaded TWW. I was climbing the walls and my DH was driving me crazy.

vrgs- so sorry about your cycle. Does your RE office have a dr. that specializies in early misscarrages? If not maybe you should research another office in your area that does. My prayers are with you.

fairyzduzt- yes, it looks like we will be close.  This is number 1 (and pray the last) IVF.  I know statistically speaking it is not on our side, but there is a chance!!!   I hope I hope I hope.....

Since I have not had BC pills in sooo long, I wonder if my body is just getting adjusted and that is why the headache.  I also have been soooo sleepy!   I look at my dirty house and think, ahh, I'll get to it later!  What a bum I am.  I can't imagine having a kid and feeling like this.

I guess I better get used to it!!!  hahaha

Hey guys!  Wow, there is a lot going on here these days!  So my ER is for sures on Wednesday.  I have been going for daily b/w and u/s and everything is looking great :o)  It's so exciting!!! Tmw we find out about the trigger shot and they say everything changes tmw so we'll see what the say in the morning.  My  arms are soooo bruised up from all the b/w and my stim inj. are really starting to hurt cuz I'm sore everywhere!

Pauline: I'm sorry about your neg. beta!  Hopefully u will get a miracle!

Rach, mona and Rxy - Good luck with your ER, I will be praying for you.

Anetski- Even though my RE had initially planned on putting in 1 embie however because I was so paranoid he put in all 3.  This was the grading - 8 -3, 6-3 and 3 - 2 (I think, I may have made an error on the last one)  They considered the 1 st one to be HIP , the second 1 mediocre and the 3rd on the lower end, but at this point these things do not matter, at the risk of sounding too preachy, it is in the hands of god and I have left it to him.

My beta is on July 1st - strange as that is just 10 days from Transfer but what do I know.  My nurse said implantation occurs on same day of transfer ???!!

When I was on Bravelle I had a headache every day but put it down to allergies :)

After my retrieval I was really loopy as they gave me a percoset , yesterday I had my feet up all day and today working from home - you can see how much I am doing that lol.

Pauline - Don't throw in the towel as yet.  Its not over till your Doc says its over.  I am sure there is a reason they want you back in for another Beta .  Good luck and we are praying for you.  Let us know how the 2nd beta goes.

Anetski - question for you, I had period like cramps all day yesterday , is that normal ?

Ladies, I went to the dr today for bw and us. I had to order more meds. My largest follicle was 17 only the one measured 17 so I'm hoping something happens with more between now and wed when I go back to dr. Now my target date is Friday. Had my dr. apt today. Everything is good to go for retreival on Wed. I am pretty freaked out about the needle for the trigger shot tonight! I guess it's something I have to get used to... ugh! I didn't know the progestrone and oil uses the same needle!!! :p I have like 11 good follicles they told me today, I wish I had more! :o) Some I guess got to big???

baby4me- We are on the same dates - almost. My transfer was on the 20th and my test is on the 1st. I have had a lot of period like cramps but was told thas because of progestrone. Are you taking any progestrone suppos ? I am on Crinone

Mamoem15 - I had so many cramps and was sure AF was coming. I almost didn't believe the positive result when they gave it to me. Good luck I hope it happens.

Regarding how many embies I checked with the nurse and she said that the rules here in Australia is so strict and they can only ever put 2 embies back, no more than that.

I could probably ask my doc about putting 2 back. I know he would advise me not to but if I was adament then he would. I think I will just have 1 put back this time (hopefully we get one) and if it doesn't work then next time 2. It worked for me first time with just 1 so why not this time and as much as I would love twins then it brings alot of extra worries along like premature birth, miscarriege etc. In saying all that I would so love two little ones. :)))

Headaches are still strong but normal according to nurse. Yesteday I had a blood test to see how everything is going and they called later and said I needed a booster shot as my numbers had slowed down a little. Wednesday I go for my first scan to see how big and how many follicles are growing.

I still haven't had bad moodswings yet but I am sure they are coming. I am actually in a really good mood. Maybe it will swing the other way soon. .....:)))

Well I am not sure weather or not it will be a 3 day or 5 day. I mentioned earlier in the post that my er wasn't to verbal about explanations. So I just play it by ear and do what he says when he decides to say it. My boobs are on fire. They hurt for my shirt to touch them! Anyone else have this symptom? Hi Girls!

I need to apologize for being MIA for so long. I had to take a break from the boards for a while but I'm back. I'm still waiting on AF to arrive the beginning of next week. Who would have ever thought we would all get so excited for AF!?! I talked to my RE last week and for our 3rd (and last paid by insurance) IVF cycle he is going to change things up. When AF comes next week I will start BP on day 3 and be on them for 21 days then take 3 days off and start Follistem. The Follistem should start the week of 7/27 and so my DH and I are going to go to FL for vacation the week before so that I can be completely relaxed. The tentative ER and ET will be the week of August 10! I will be 29 in July and my RE is still apprehensive about putting more than 2 embies back in but since our last 2 cycles failed with 2 embies each time (the last time them both making it to blast stage) he is leaving this cycle up to us to decided. Depending on the quality of the embies my DH and I have decided we are definitely going with 3 and maybe even 4!

Hello ladies! This will be our 2nd attempt at IVF. I am currently on BCP and will start stimulation meds next friday. The last IVF cycle was the short protocol. We used follistum/ganarelix. I am hoping that this time we get better results since we are using different meds. We had 16 eggs retrieved last time and 14 fertilized usuing ICSI. We transfered 3 5day blastocyst that had degenerative cells. I want to be excited for this cycle, but at the same time do not want to get my hopes up only to fail again. I will never ever understand how some people can get pregnant so easily and others struggle so much. I hope and pray that we all get our BFP's soon! I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all. Thank you for sharing in your own struggles and giving support for mine!

mamon - Try to relax(easier said than done, I know). I'm sure being bloated and constipated must be crappy but think of them as nothing compared to getting your BFP! Are you back at work?

Kelly - Nice to have you back with us. I think we all understand taking some time off from the post....sometimes its necessary. Before you know it, AF will be here and your IVF cycle will begin.

AFM- Appt went well Wed. RE and us are concerned about the fluid we found Tuesday. Apparently, the tube she opened during my LAP has closed back up. But, she did say yesterday that she didn't see any fluid in the cavity(not sure which she was talkinga about..but I think uterus) So, she doesn't think it's leaking. That fluid could be toxic to embyros implanting. She said all the fluid is there due to the meds (extra hormones). So, I haven't stimmed since Tuesday night...we are hoping for a 5dt (next Wednesday). Perhaps the fluid will start to subside? Anyway, E2 was 2670 and lining was great! I have over 20 follies. I have to be at the clinic at 6:45am Friday. I triggered last night!

Everyone- I tried to divide the group up into sections since we are getting so many new members! It's great! So, please help us fill in the blanks. If you know specific dates that would be great! If there are any corrections, let us know!

Here is my story.. I have had 2 girls and a tubal - my youngest is 13, my husband has 3 children and a vas - his youngest is 18.  We have been married for 3 years and now want our own children so IVF is the only way to do it.  We have talked about it for years.  I did not realize that the Time Clock was ticking down.  I am 39 and we are just skidding in there.

We did the ER on the 16th and the ET on the 19th for a 3dt.  I had 16 follicles 7 eggs and 3 died prior to the 3dt.  We transfered 4 back 2 of the were 8 cells, 1 was 6 cell, and 1 was 4 cell.  I did not have any to freeze so this is a 1 shot deal for us unless my insurance changes.  I am due for my firt QHcg (this is the pg test that shows the hormone level) on the 1st of July.

I have taken several hpt, I bought 20 of them for $16 including shipping.  So, I watched the trigger shot fade out of my system til I got a BFN result so that when I get my BFP that I will know it is a true result and not a false test. However, as of yesterday I am positive I am pg.  I thought I was just having side effects from the medications, however, I can't button my pants anymore - I bloated alot from the stim shots, my boobs are at least a size bigger and tender, and now i can feel pressure down in the uterus area.  I have over thought every twinge that my body makes.  However, my husband is as confident as he can be that I am preg so I have decided to go on faith and belive I am pregnant! Here's my update: So yesterday I had my retrieval and they got 22 eggs and I just found out that 20 fertilized! :o) I'm pretty excited, hopefully they keep on growing!!! :o) So I am scheduled for a 5 day transfer.

4ever - We are planning on transferring 2 although my re wants us only to do 1 cuz of our age and I'm kinda small, he's worried about 1 splitting and we get triplets :o) I don't think that's a problem but who knows :o) I just want 1 baby andif we get twins it will be a miracle! Ok so I got an answer from my doc regarding number of embryos transfered. The policy is to only transfer 1 embryo to women under 40 who has a good chance of getting pregnant. They will only transfer 2 if there has been a few failed cycles and has other conditions that could affect the success rate. The chance of premature birth with multiples are double than with singleton pregnancies and they want to avoid these complications. I am happy with this and can now stop worrieng about it.

I had my 2nd scan today and there is around 16 follicles in total and the average size is 16mm so I think the retrieval is wednesday next week but they will let me know this afternoon.

rxyrxx919 - 22 eggs and 20 fertilized. What a great result. I had 19 eggs first time with 10 fertilizing. I only ended up with 1 single at the end but you have double so you should get a few at least. Good luck. I will be crossing my fingers for you.How did you feel after the retrieval? I can't remember how felt last time.

anetski- I can tell you how I feel after my er. I feel so bad. My pelvic area is in so much pain. Advil did not work, neither did tylenol. I have taken 2 vicodin and I still feel pain. Anyhow I had 26 eggs retrieved (happy about that) Just wondering if i will be ok for my 5 day transfer.

aanetski I can see ur dr.'s point! My dr. really doesn't want me to do more than 1 because of my age, he is really trying to convience me to do 1 but I'm pretty insistant becasue this might be only chance to do a fresh ivf cycle. So right after the retrieval I took some advil and I was cramping all day but not enough to take anything else for it. I was also very tired. The cramping was also fine as long as I was sitting :O) I was better by the evening. How exciting ur retrival is next week!

mona, what a bummer you feel so awful! I bet u will be better by ur 5dt! 26 eggs is great! R u doing icsi for fertilization?

My update is: ER wednesday next week.

I can't believe I have 4 more days of injections. Feel my mood going downhill from the hormones. But I trust my doc. He is very good and we need quality eggs.

** Does anyone know how it works with the time of AF after IVF cycle. I mean do I till go by my normal cycle days and if I normally have a 30DAY cycle should I then think I am 1 day late for AF if it doesn't come by day 30? Since my ER will be on day 17 of my cycle I am now confused....

** How long after your ET do they schedule a pregnancy bloodtest?
** Is anyone planning on doing HPT and when?

I really enjoy this thread. I can just see how the posts are going to be very different from now when we are all in the 2WW. I am going to try and keep myself busy and not obses too much. Yah right like that is going to happen.

rxy - My RE has me taking blood test on July 1st which is 13 days from retrieval and I too think that it is too soon. But I was told that if I am preganant at that time they can adjust the progesterone level. I took a hpt today to check if HCG is still in my system. Came back as neg, so now I know if I test next Tues the HPT willbe correct. I don't plan to do more than that. BTW, my bb's are sore and my nipples hurt (sorry TMI) thats the only symptom. I went for accu yesterday and she told me that could be from the progesterone too. When's your transfer ?

Hi Rxy - I don't know, I am not trying to over analyze anything at this time. Below is what I found reg HCG, hope it helps

HCG levels in pregnancy
HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone made by the pregnancy that can be detected in the mother's blood or urine even before the woman's missed period. This hormone is what we look for with a "pregnancy test".

HCG is first detectable in the blood as early as 7-8 days after ovulation by very sensitive HCG assays (research assays). In real life, blood pregnancy tests will be positive (> 2 mIU/ml) by 10-11 days after HCG injection or LH surge.

In general, the HCG level will double every 2-3 days in early pregnancy.

85% of normal pregnancies will have the HCG level double every 72 hours.

HCG levels peak at about 8-10 weeks of pregnancy and then decline, remaining at lower levels for the rest of the pregnancy.

There is a large variation in a "normal" HCG level for any given time in pregnancy.

Pregnancies destined to miscarry or to be ectopic (tubal) pregnancies tend to show lower levels (eventually), but often have normal levels initially.

Some normal pregnancies will have quite low levels of HCG - and deliver perfect babies. Caution must be used in making too much of HCG "numbers". Ultrasound findings after 5-6 weeks of pregnancy are much more predictive of pregnancy outcome than are HCG levels.

For women that have had an HCG injection as part of their infertility treatment, the hormone will take about 5-14 days to clear from the woman's system, depending on the dose and the individual woman. This can causes problems with interpretation of pregnancy tests done earlier than 14 days after an HCG injection.

Hi, again!  The call came on the 22nd @2:30 p.m..  DH & I went in on the 23 @11:30 a.m.  two 5 day DE were transferred around 12 noon.  I met w/DH in the recovery area about 1 p.m.  We were both out by 3-ish.  We didn't arrive home until about 6 p.m.  DH bought me a grilled-chicken salad on the way home.  I drank a lemonade when we got home.

I've been following a blood-type diet due to the rareness of my blood-type.  %85 percent of successful pregnancies (I read) belong to o-pos. blood-types.  I happen to be A-Neg.  So far, I've lost 3 lbs. on this diet, and I stay satisfied, longer, and I don't get constipated nor bloated.  I feel much better than the last time, last year.  Hopefully, these beaners will stick . . . or one will.  Whichever happens will truly be a God Send, Amen.  O:-)

I was told I couldn't sit up until today.  So, here I yam!  ;)  I can shower today, also.  Sunday, I can walk around Walmart and ride around in our vehicle.  Hcg bw is set for the 8th or 9th.  Whenever is convienient for DH & I.  So far, I'm staying positive and keeping the faith for all of us.  Oh, and we're also praying for all of us, always.  ***BABY*DUST***BABY*DUST***BABY*DUST***

I can only answer to what my body did after my first IVF cycle. AF came as normal that month after we got our BFN. However the next moth my cycle went 6 days longer than usual. My Dr. said it is totally normal to have a messed up cycle for a couple months. As for your transfer question. My Dr. tests 8-10 days after transfer and it's accurate. I am going to try my best not to use HPT this time. I did that last time and getting the negative result was really heartbreaking. Besides knowing that HPT's can be inaccurate at times makes me think just don't do it. I would hate to get a negative and be pregnant or vice versa. But it's up to you. I know most people probably do a HPT before their beta. To each their own.

Well guys, while I am sitting here on BCP's until my mock transfer July 8th, I will live vicariously through your posts!  It seems so far!!!  My hubby asked to take me out of town for the weekend a week and a half after we meet with the RE.  I told him we were probably starting meds and I don't want to drag those along.  I feel so bad because he tries to do something nice for me and I am going to decline because of the possibility of doing meds at that time.  We definately need some couple time as this whole situation has stressed us both!

Do you guys think if I have my mock transfer on the 8th, the doc will start me on meds right away?  I am already one week into my BC pills.  Hubby wants to go out of town the 17th for a long weekend.  (Timing was never on my side!)

Hmmmm... this doesn't even look possible when it is written down.  Is it similar to stimming for an IUI which usually takes 7 days?  Please weigh in...

Also, I'd lik to say to all of the sisters that are trying again, Cheer-up & keep your head in the stars.  God knows what's in all of our hearts and he will do the right thing at the right time for all of us, always.

BTW, we just found out that we have to move from our home, we thought we were renting-to-own, bc the owner has filed bankruptcy.  He said he is losing all of his houses and he gave us 3 mos free rent.  That's all fine and dandy, but our A/C went out last Thurs.  We've been roasting/boiling in this house since then, and we (well at least I) can't even go for a dip in the pool, yet.  My 3 female cats are practically-baked...they're almost well-done.  It's hotter outside than it is inside.  DH went out to buy me some yogurt, get some flix, 10 gals of h20, and another A/C.  It's like being in an oven.  The only time it's cool, in here, is when we're in front of the A/C (portable).  Owner said he can't even afford to fix the compressor in the A/C.  He offered to pay for 3-4 nights at a motel/hotel and I reckon I'll take him up on it on Sunday.  :)))

piggy2:  Take your meds & go.  Jump in the pool for me!!!  ;)  DH is having a difficult time too, I bet.  My DH takes everything I go through alot harder than I do myself.  Poor thing!  He's been cooking, cleaning, shopping, feeding the cats for me.  He's an angel.
