Taking clomid with prog. level @11.6

by kindergal, Jun 30, 2007 12:00AM
I am 37 years old and have been trying to conceive for 1.5 years. After 6 months, all of the usual testing took place with no problems--post coital, laproscopy for endometriosis, sperm count/mobility..etc.. My prog. level is at 11.6. I have since been referred to an infertility specialist. I have been put on Clomid for the next month (will not take it for another week or so) since my progesterone level is considered low....I will go in for a prog. reading 7 days after ovulating. My cycle is typically 31 days and I ovulate on day 17. My Dr. told me the Clomid will help get my level up and "regulate" my cycle to 28 days and ovulate on day 13. Since then, I have read several places that 11.6 is not low.
I am just looking for another opinion or two before I start the medication. I have heard it can be harmful if progesterone levels are not really low.

As far as I know, 11 is low. My doc told me that it has to be at least 17,5. But it is better to have it around 20. I don't know clomid, because I live in another country, but this month I took progesterone shots, and my level raised from 19,5 to 50 in 3 days. Ask your doc about the shots. They are excelent!!!!!

I have gone through all the testing and everything. the first month that i went to an RE my progesterone was about the same as yours 11.5.  He said that this is not extremely low but it is lower than they like it.  It should be at least 15 or higher 7 days after ovulation. So i was put on clomid. The first month it helped and my progesterone on day 21 was 80!!! That is crazy high. . .didn't get pregnant, and the next two months even with the clomid my progesterone was 9.5 and then 10.  So clomid is supposed to help, but didn't do much with me. The clomid helps you to ovulate better (a better egg i think) and this is where the progesterone comes from. Hope this helps.
