Hi girls as most of you know I had my 2nd mc in 7 months last Wednesday. I had a D and C on Friday and we are waiting for the choromosomal testing to come back. My RE said to call him on Friday and he should have it. I was just wondering if it is a chromosomal problem is that caused by bad eggs or bad sperm? If so, would IVF help with that? I don't really know that much about IVF but I know they grade your eggs and stuff...Has anybody had 2 mc's or more? If so what were your RE's recommendations. He wants to have a consultation with me which we are going to do. I just was curious if anybody knows what he might suggest. I was on clomid for 2 months and didn't get preg. I do o on my own but I know he said that clomid makes your eggs stronger. Any ideas or thoughts would be helpful...thanks!
If chromosomal problem was the cause of your miscarriage, with ivf you can do genetic testing BEFORE the transfer. It's called PGD, preimplantation genetic testing. They always give you this choice. That way you can eliminate a potential chromosomal mutation. Otherwise, I don't think ivf will help.
I hope you are feeling better.

Helen,
Thank you...I figured they could do somehting like that. I wonder if my RE will suggest that or he will just put me back on clomid to make my eggs stronger? If it's not a chromosomal thing then what could it be?
I"m so sorry to hear about your losses, I can't even imagine! Hopefully you will learn more details when you meet with the RE and work on a good plan from here! Would your RE consider putting you on progesterone from the time you ovulate onward, to eliminate that as a factor? Good luck! i'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
I have had two m/c and IVF hasn't been recommended yet. How much testing have you had done? I have a luteal phase defect which causes the low progesterone. I think clomid is supposed to help with that, but the days you take it are a little different (earlier days 3-7 instead of 5-9). I also have antiphospholipid syndrome and take baby aspirin for that as well. My dr. put me on clomid + injectibles, and now I am on femara + injectibles since clomid can thin the lining, and can actually cause miscarriage!!!! I would ask for more testing before jumping to IVF.
I am sorry to hear of your loss, I know it is hard at any stage. I had a loss at 12 weeks, and another at 13.
I had two miscarriages back to back - at about 4/5 weeks. In chromosome testing of me a few months later they found I have a blood issue for which I take baby aspirin. They also put me on progesterone - 200mg day. I'm now 21 weeks pregnant. Have they done chromosome testing on you or your DH?
bny- Maybe he would. He is great...I know that whenever I was on clomid and had testing on CD 21 my progesterone was good. My first m/c I didn't have any spotting or cramping and then all the sudden had a m/c. This time I had spotting so I requested they check my progesterone it was low. Then it went up to 18 with in 2 days. Maybe he will do that for me.
alikat- I had the m/c screening panel done on my and I came back compound hetero. MTHFR. My Re doesn't think this has anything to do with my m/c though. I was also taking one baby aspirin a day and extra vitamins. They tested me for lupus anticogulant, Factor 5 F laiden, homocysteine levels...all kinds of stuff like 13 tests or more. I was on clomid one month and my lining was good. The second month my lining was thin. I got pregnant on my own but since this is my second m/c in 7 months I would think he would want to give me something to make my eggs stronger. I guess he will probably go for the least invasive procedure first. I'm sorry to hear about your losses too...I can't imagine being 12 or 13 weeks...that must be so hard. good luck to you!
Diane- Dh and I both had the karotype testing done (chromosome). We even went to see a genetic counselor and everything was said to be fine. I have a blood clotting disorder (MTHFR) but they say it's pretty common and nobody is concerned about it but me. It's so nice to hear a positive story. I'm just feeling like it's never going to happen...I'm hoping something comes from them testing the baby. I won't know what to do if it's not a chromosome problem??? Congrats again!
ateh- Is that a water sono? I had one done in Aug. b/c he thought I might have leftover tissue from my last D and C b/c my HCG was still 28 in Aug. I didn't though and he said everything looked good.
I did all of them and they came back fine. I made my RE do them after my first m/c. The only thing that came back is I'm compound hetero. MTHFR. Other then that everything was fine....
I hope you are feeling better.

Further tests you should do: coagulation factors, hysteroscopy and maybe also kariotype
Sorry for your loss!
