balanced chromosome trans and clomid

My husband has a balanced chromosome translocation of 5th and 9th chromosomes, i've had numerous miscarriages and cant afford pgd with ivf does anyone know if clomid would help?  My thought is that maybe it would cause more eggs to become fertilized even if I would still miscarry it would mean less pregnancies if one would take?

I'm not sure about the clomid thing although it does sound logical.  Have you asked your doctor?  In my case, I am the one with the balanced translocation.  I've had 3 m/c but right now I'm 16 weeks.  All seems to be going well but you never know.  Have you seen a genetic counselor?  He/she may also have options for you.

thanks for your post, I am waiting to hear back from my doctor.  We have beed to the genetic counselor but they suggest only sperm donor or pgd with ivf.  Congratulations and baby dust at sixteen weeks, I do have one miracle of my own and she just started kingergarten this year.  Best wishes!

Hey there. This is a late posting, but in case anyone is searching and reading this later... I had the same thought about Clomid and asked Dr. Zouves (one of the top IVF guys in the country). He said he would not recommend this route as Clomid can also decrease fertility.  He also said he would not recommend IVF w/ PGD for translocations. He said he has had almost no success with it.  The miscarriages decrease, but the babies don't increase.

Did Dr. Zouves give you any other options.  i am just now reading these posts but my husband has a bal. reciprocol translocation between chromosomes 11 & 22.  We also have had a couple miscarriages.  I am about 6 wks preg now and wondering if I am going to miscarry.  I was considereing IVF w/ PGD.  But if he says it is not successful then I may reconsider.  I was taking clomid when I conceived during this pregnancy and with my first pregnancy.  

Please let me know if he gave you any advice or other oprions...

Zouves did not give other options.  Everything I have read says that you will get a baby faster if you do it naturally. The plus of doing IVF with PGD is that you will be able to see if any of your embryos are viable or not.  The negative is the cost, the shots, etc.
