clomid -- silly question about weight gain!

by jmt31, Mar 01, 2008 07:41AM
hello!  so this month was my first month on clomid and i've gained a wonderful 8 lbs since i started taking it.  i will not be taking it next month because my husband will be away for 2 weeks with work and i'm going away for a week (girls weekend in the bahamas..yay!).  sooooooo here's my question...did anyone gain weight and when they stopped the clomid lose the weight they've gained rather quickly?  the reason i ask is b/c if i lose the weight...my summer clothes will fit me and i really won't need to go buy some new shorts or anything.  if NOT then i better go get some wardrobe updates!  haha.  plus i need a new bathing suit and want to know...buy for my old size or new???  i know it's silly...but anybody's input would be appreciated!  THANKS!

Hello!  It is not a silly question!  I did gain a little weight my first month but I lost it right away!  Now, I'm very careful when I'm on it =)  It shouldn't be hard for you to lose! =)

Hi. I took two cycles of Clomid last year (2008), got pregnant and miscarried both times. One miscarriage at 3 weeks and one at 9 weeks. My waist and stomach got really bloated on clomid. I felt terrible from the bloating (my stomach is normally pretty flat). None of my pants fit. It took months for it to go away. My doctor switched me to injectibles (FSH) since I miscarried both times on Clomid. I just finished my first cycle of FSH & IUI and I feel great. No weight gain or side effects so far. Will take HPT in a few days. In my opinion, you will not loose the weight quickly. I think it will take some time for your weight to normalize after Clomid. Have a great time on your trip!

I am so glad jmt31 posted this question. I noticed I've gained weight as well. My belly looked like I was pregnant and I had to stop myself from thinking that the possibilty was even there. Oh my goodness, I feel better knowing it is common! jmt31-have a really great time in the Bahamas! Could you just buy two new swimsuits?? :)

I took clomid from cycle days 5-9 and then gained 4 pounds in two days after finishing the clomid.  I run 45-60 minutes three times a week, play tennis several times a week and have a personal trainer twice a week for strength training  + eat a healthy clean diet. My trainer was shocked to see the 4 pound gain in two days.  I can only think it is the clomid.  It makes me wonder how the clinical trials of clomid say only 1% gain weight if all these posts prove otherwise.

I just started Clomid Tuesday. So far, not sure about weight gain or bloated. I'm always bloated (hate it) so right now I can't tell the difference. I'm not really hungry but I've been getting over the flu so not sure what's going on.

So far the side effects for me are super tired and today my ovary that had the cyst on it is starting to hurt. I'm done with these pills on Friday so we'll see.
