Ideally, yes...but in general, it seems like regular obgyns do not follow up as much as a specialist (RE) does.

Do you ovulate on your own? If you're using clomid to help you ovulate, it's best to have a progesterone blood test done about 7 days after your expected ovulation. A number of 10 or more indicates that you ovulated and is high enough for a possible implantation. The reason it's a good idea to have this done, is because some women need a higher dose of clomid to ovulate, and if this is the case, you'd know after your first round. If the progesterone is low, indicating that you didn;t ovulate on 50 mg, then your doctor can give you a higher dose for the next month.

A fertility specialist (RE) will also do ultrasounds before ovulation to make sure the follicles are growing at the proper rate...but obgyns/regular doctors normally won't do this.

How long have you been trying to get pregnant?
