clomid

by CHRISTINE1978, May 25, 2009 03:46PM
My doctor has given me 3 months supply of clomid told me to take on days 3-7 and see me in 3 months if not pregnant.  I have been taken my first round of clomid and have taken ovulation tests everyday and they have shown that I have not ovulated.  Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them and they have ovualated with negative results.  Thanks for any advice

Hi, first of all best of luck! I am trying clomid also, my first dose was 50mg on days 5-9, but I didn't see any result (I actually struggle with ovulation and not bleeding). So now I am back on Provera to start my bleed, then take 100mg on days 5-9 again. I am hoping this works. So far no luck, I think. My BBT chart showed I ovulated on like day 35, so we'll see, on way or another I should know something by next week. I know I am not much help, but I helps to know your not in this alone, it can be scary. My dr. said one more round if this doesn't work, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Best of luck and keep us posted:)

Wow, I'm suprised your doctor isn't monitering you at all while on clomid! I know I got cysts with one cycle while I was on clomid, and had to take the next cycle off for the cyst to go away. It's scary to not be monitered, b/c you don't know how your body will react to it... Well, let me see if I can help....  You said you took clomid days 3-7, how long ago was your last pill? I usually ovulated on CD 16 or CD 18 while on clomid, and clomid is known to delay your cycle a little bit, so it's normal to ovulate a little later on it. Also, clomid can make your cervical mucous not as fertile, so I would suggest to try preseed or some kind of fertility friendly lubricant to help with that. Are you temping to monitor your ovulation as well? If not, I would suggest to try it. It really helps in determining when ovulation has taken place. For now, just keep testing with your ovulation tests, and I would suggest to take them twice a day. Sometimes you can have a very short lh surge, which is what the ovulation tests detect, and if you're only taking 1 every 24 hours, you may miss your surge. If you need advice or help, just look me up! I'm glad to help! :)

I agree. Your doctor should be following up with you before 3 months. I started my first clomid last week and I am on day 12. On day 13 I am to start monitoring ovulation and if I get a surge I am supposed to contact the office for a test that same day. If I don't have a surge by CD 18, then I am supposed to go in anyways for testing.

Also my doctor only gave me 1 cycle of clomid. She wants me to come in next month and order me a higher dosage if not pregnant.

I agree with what the others said about doc monitoring. I am on my first cycle of the low dose of Clomid and am supposed to call the doc for a consult if I get AF. I think they need to make sure you're not pregnant before starting you on a second cycle, for one thing, as being on Clomid would be bad for the baby.

Luvkaylin, that's interesting that you O later on Clomid. I was put on it to O sooner, as my cycles can be irregular with late Os. It pushed me up to CD 14 instead of the usual 17-19. I was worried, at first, that it could be a false positive, but I had unexplained bloating and cramps on CD 13-14 which disappeared the next day, so I'm thinking that was ovulation pain, Clomid-style.

Good luck to everyone trying Clomid!

I was also given three months of 50mg Clomid and told to contact them in three months! I thought it a little careless...but will try anything now.

Christine - did you have any luck with O?

I'm on my first round and haven't O'd yet - I'm on CD20 so it's not looking hopeful! I did O natually last month with a LH surge on day 17.

My doctor also gave me a 3 months supply of Clomid and told me to come back in 3 months. I took 50 mg of Clomid days 3-7 and was told to test for O starting on day 9 and test with OPK for 10 days. I finally got a + OPK cd 19. I have had all sorts of symptoms on clomid though. When I was taking the pills I had hot flashes and nausea. Now I am 9 dpo and I am experiencing breast tenderness, extreme nausea, fatigue, cramps, headaches, and occasionally moodiness. The symptoms became so severe that we took a HPT which I know according to O was early and got BFN but I did not think the side effects of clomid would become worse as my cycle persisted. I am now on cd 29 and hoping that I am pregnant but I am sure my symptoms are from clomid. I wish my doctor was checking me while on the clomid to ensure that it is working properly and to make sure my body is reacting appropriately. I am just thankful I found a doctor that is so understanding and helpful. He did all necessary tests before placing me on the clomid.
