gained five pounds? why?

by tea_berries, May 20, 2008 12:50PM
Any of you ladies gained weight while in the process of ttc?

I have been taking prenatal vitamins.  Is my body reacting too much to the vitamins? I never used to go beyond 108 to100 and I am 5'-3" now i am 113lbs.  that's five pounds from 108.

Just wondering if any of you ladies had this happen during ttc

are you on any sort of hormone supplements? Doing ivf, my weight tends to fluctuate with the meds... anywhere from a couple of lbs up to as much as 10 lbs. I am 5'5" and usually at 125lbs (give or take a pound or two :-D...
Hope this helps.

I gain weight during the tww (while on progesterone) i sware i'm CONSTANTLY hungry!! but then tend to loose most of it during AF , but overall defintely gained some weight that has stuck!: (  of course i'm not running anymore for fear of "jolting" anything! haha!

I gained a pound last week, which stinks, b/c I have actually been seeing a nutritionist and keeping a food diary and I have been careful about what I was eating.  That was wk1 on the ttw.  I weigh myself every thursday am.  Ill let you know if I gained or lost.
I did take hormones this IUI C#2 and now I am on progestrone supp.  I do feel hungrier and tired...but who knows....

I also cut back on my exercising during the ttw with just walking as my only form of exercise during this time period.

Ive gained almost 15 pounds since starting to ttc. My RE says its a combo of the hormones and cutting back on working out as much as i used to. Walking just doesnt do enough to get my metabolism excited!

Good luck!

HA! Since TTC and all the hormones, shots, pills, vitamins, and everything - I am looking at about 25 extra lbs in 2 years...Heck, I wish it was a 5 lb gain, I would take that right now :)

by sasparilla, May 20, 2008 01:33PM
I have you all beat!  35 lbs. here!  My RE isn't concerned, and said the same thing as Jens's RE.  A big problem for me is that I used to be a personal trainer and I competed in fitness/figure competitions.  I had to stop all that b/c I didn't have my period for years.  I needed to gain body fat.  Well, look at me now.. metabolism is at a complete standstill.  I actually went on a diet back in Jan., lost 15 lbs, then started Clomid in feb. and by April I had gained it all back.  All I can say is I am so happy Im fairly tall.

It's the medicine makes you gain weight.

by tea_berries, May 20, 2008 02:07PM
It must be from prenatal and clomid? and metformin for pcos.  hearing all your stories, I should watch out huh? LOL But bny is right.  can't do strenous exercise though/  I guess I should just suck it up and be happy LOL.  I don't mind a bit of weight in exchange for a baby :) thank you all ladies. :) it seems like majority of all your answers are due to hormones acting up with the meds we take.

by gokuangel, May 20, 2008 03:23PM
im not even taking hormones or nothing just fertility vitamins and since then i have like gained 6-8lbs in 6 months!! but then again i stay home all the time so it may just be me and needing to exercise. I really want to get the extra off i feel like im starting to lose my figure lol!

prenatals make you gain weight?

by SHP, May 20, 2008 11:47PM
I have you all beat.  From stress & hormones (& depression) I have gained 39 pounds in 15 months.  I feel too old and tired to try to get it off.

by hutchette81, May 21, 2008 08:26AM
Yeah, I am on clomid, and the dr. said I could eat carrots all week and still gain weight! Sucks I know, but well worth it!

by sasparilla, May 21, 2008 08:41AM
Seriously though.. I looked at a recent picture of me and I look so FAT compared to 2 years ago.  I mean even my head is fat.  It just makes me so mad that on top of all the stess of this infertility c=r=a=p I am going through, I have to also deal with the added weight that has made me look like a completely different person.  I wouldn't even go to a convention w/DH the other week b/c I hadn't sen those people in a couple years and I know they would be like "Wow.. she has gotten so big".  And everytime I go to my RE they say "weight gain is normal".. well, its NOT normal for me!!!!!  Id better get preggers soon bcause I have reached maximum capacity!

by tina1111, May 21, 2008 10:34AM
My dr told me pn's will keep weight on for sure. Also, I did notice a slight increase on Clomid, too. It did drop back down after I stopped taking it.

by tea_berries, May 21, 2008 12:22PM
well ladies it will be a continuous strugle but I went and googled this and saw some forums that talk about clomid and weight gain.   alot of women are complaining and alot have gotten pregnant too.  Not pregnant right away but they did get prego... crossing fingers... this is emotionally draining...

Sasparilla:  Just try to sing in your head when you are about to hear the word comming out of their mouth... sing like La lala lala.... LOL.  and no matter what they say,  you don't need to explain everything to them.  It's none of their business.  grrrr.  wow my hormones are kicking in LOL.  they don't know what we are going through.  relax and try to have fun at the convention.  :) wear something sexy and feel sexy :) But if it makes you feel better not to go, then be it.  I try to avoid parties and baby showers just because I hate it when people ask... Now adays I would jus say... it will come when it's time and if it's not meant to then at least I am still happy with DH  .... cheer up and let us know how it goes if you decide to go to the convention  :)

by SHP, May 21, 2008 01:13PM

go to that convention girl.  I am and have gained about 30 pounds since the floks at my DH's convention have seen me. (I was about 20lbs overweight then)  So I am going at a whopping 50pounds over.  Don't quit living from weight.  No one is worried about it but us.  Sure they may look at us but they are all too interested in themselves to truly worry about us.  Also, you will get it off and they will really notice you later.

Of course I am not putting a bathing suit on!!
