hormonal hair loss

by AlleyCatrk, Jan 20, 2008 05:28PM
I took 5 days of clomid in December.  I took only 2 days this month and stopped
because I noticed my hair was thinning.  I saw my GP and had blood work done
in which my hormones and thryoid came back normal.  She told me because of
the Clomid which made my estrogen spike and then fall affected my hair follicles
and would experience some thinning for the next couple of months, but would
not lose all my hair.  I wish I had known this could happen, but even when I
contacted my infertility Doctor they seemed surprised and had believed it was
my thyroid and not the clomid.  I unfortunately am part of the 1% that hair loss
can affect due to clomid.  Has anyone else had this happen and if so how long
did you hair fall out and when did it start to grow back.  Thank you for your answers..

Actually, I had the exact opposite occur!  I've been losing my hair for several years now, unexplained - drs. just say it's age and hormones.  But, I was losing more than any of my friends my age or older, as well as more than any family members.  Well, as soon as I started using Clomid - the first week my hair loss dissipated.  So, I guess everyone is different. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Once your pregnant your hair loss should stop, it shouldn't be so severe that you'll have bald patches.  I'll bet nobody will even notice.  I guess you have to weigh what you want more, a baby or a thick head of hair.  Although the baby is permanent, the hair loss temporary.  I'm sorry I guess I'm not very helpful.  I hope you get some answers.
