It is so true about some people not knowing about the world we exist in...It can br really trying but faith in God and support from groups like this help to make the ordeal that much more bearable :-)
I am 7dpiui and have little symptoms as well...The sore boobs can be from the trigger shot as that makes your body feel pregnant. The progesterone may have something to do with it as well. I know it is hard, the 2ww, but try and stay occupied so that the time can pass by smoothly...I know, I know, easier said than done :-)
Keep us posted on your progress...btw, i have my beta on 12/30....praying and finger crossed for a bfp...but still taking it one day at a time :-)

missy: try and stay positive in 06 with my first pg I did not get bfp til 6 days after af was due and i took a hpt the night before i went in for b/w!!! and that was the ONLY sign I had was a late cycle! God Bless I just returned from the mall! :)

Has anyone ever done clomid, injectables and ovulated (I know I did b/c my progesterone was 52) and not gotten AF? I'm not sure what to make of this all....I'm currently 17dpiui. I may test again tomorrow but I just hate seeing BFN!!
jll: I did do clomid and injectables this cycle but I dont have my progestrom checked til monday.
I am 12dp IUI and I don’t have any symptoms? one in a while I have AF like crams, it lasts for 10/15 seconds and that’s about it? I am taking progesterone but my BB’s don’t hart …. Does this mean my IUI didn’t work…. I am just toooo afraid to take a hpt. I don’t want to see a BFN. My beta is on 1/3/09. did any one get a BFP without any symptoms?

To Missyzane08....I also had cramping around day 9piui and on and off ever since. I assuming it all has to do with implantation.

Well I went to the RE this morning for my bw & us. I am starting 150 of Follistium tonight. Then I go back in on Wednesday for a check up on it. Anyone else take this drug? Any side effects I should know about?
It's been a while since I've posted. I took a couple of months off. I was having a hard time with all those crazy meds. I felt it was only a matter of time before one of my loved ones would haul off and slap me. I just had my 2nd iui on 12/26. Today is 3 dpiui. This time my RE added 150 u. of Bravelle to the 150 u. of Menopur I took the last time. Took the injections for 7 nights. Now I'm in the 2 week anxiety driving wait!
It's amazing how many people are posting and in the 2ww. It is truly such a comfort to know that there are many of us facing the same obstacles.

All: I was just curious about some things and called re's office...I asked could high progestrone levels make you tired and they said yes so thats why they dont really count on that for a preggo symptom...I know im only 7dpiui and that is the only symptom besides these minimal cramps that I had this a m for about 2 minutes...I have been having butterflies like tickling all day but they are all through my tummy...I don't know what to make of all of this I am just praying and hoping that this worked this time!

Unfortunately, I am now contradicting myself and when I o'd...my OPK never came back positive at home, but now thinking back, I think I did on Saturday 12/20 because I remember having some "signs" but when I took the test, it didn't show positive for o. Which would have been 3 days early!! I normally do on day 11. That would have only been day 8! I also took the trigger shot on Monday 12/22 and had iui on Wed 12/24...now I'm totally thinking that I missed the mark!!! Can anyone give me any positive feedback on my freaking out a bit???
I too did iui and go for my bloodwork on Jan 2nd. I am really nervous and want it to work. I've had SUPER sore breasts from 3dpiui, been sleeping more and increased appetite. I have been bloated since 3dpiui and have veins on the side of my belly, upper thighs and breasts.
I've been placed on progestrone suppositories and estrace - so I don't know if the symptoms are 'fake'.
I really hope everyone in here gets a BFP!

My beta is on the 1/3/09. I will be very very disappointed if I find out that actually it’s a BFN. Please tell me is it normal to get AF like crams and still be pregnant?
Another thing is I don’t have any major symptoms. My BB’s r fine. I am just a little nauseous, and tired….

B, my iui was 12 days ago (I hada double). I test on Friday and am really nervous. My bbs hurt, especially on the sides and the middle.
Late last night I had cramps for approximately 10 - 15 secs - but they didn't seem like AF cramps. I am on 100mg of progestrone suppos. twice a day.
I am getting so tempted to just go to a walk in clinic and ask them to do a blood test! They normally give the results the next day! Friday seems really far away.
I am already feeling depressed.
Babyday: That is GREAT! You should take another one tomm - it may get darker!!!

Hope all is well. We are all in this together and it is good to have people to feel, share and understand the struggles of infertility.
With that said, I did my bloodwork and u/s this morning and RE's office called me to let me know the results. They are unfortunately a BFN. Suprisingly, I am ok. Still have not told my DH yet but it is what it is.
I hope those remaining in the cycle get their BFPs and those that did already, MUCH CONGRATS to you and your family.
Two more days until the new year so let's start off on a positive note :-)
Meeting with the RE on Tuesday to discuss the next step...Will keep you posted.

All: I took a hpt today just to see if it would be neg to see if the trigger shot was out of my system and it was I know its too ealy to look for bfp because I am on cd 24 and only 8dpiui so I am just waiting my time out and still symptomless today but still faithful and hopeful...
Thank u sooo much for ur support. I didn’t take a test today. I will wait till 3rd because I don’t think I can take a BFN. I had 2 miscarriages before and the cramps that I am getting r a little strange (they r quite instance).

All: cd25 and 9dpiui I woke up this a m with a temp of 98.1 which is only up .1 from yetsreday but I do have mild cramping that comes and goes and mild lower back pain...I have to work today and tomorrow but I am wishing everyone a blessed, safe, prosporus, and baby filled 2009!!!!
I am in tears as I write this - I got a bfn this morning - its been 13dpiui. I went bed to bed and cried.
I kept staring at the stick to see if another line would come up - but it didn't.
Its so hard to keep going. I have no signs of my period. I've called my fertility clinic and asked them to test me tom instead of Jan 2nd.
I can't even stop crying.
I really pray that all you women get a bfp - we would all make great mothers.

I hope all of you in the 2ww are able to find a few moments of anxiety-free living during these stressful days!! I had cramps 3-6dpiui. My bbs are a little sensitive, but I'm taking 2 100mg progesterone suppositories so it's probably a side-effect. Although last month I didn't feel nearly this tired and sensitive. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is all of our months!! Hang in there...our wait is almost over. To those who've been blessed with BFP's for their New Year, CONGRATS!! You will all make wonderful mother's!! To those who got BFN's, stay strong, the New Year will bless us all with beautiful healthy babies!!
Remember, amongst eveyrthing else, we are a few hours away from witnessing a NEW YEAR. That in itself is truly a blessing. I know this infertitlity business seems to get the best of us. Just know that we are not alone in this ordeal. We will all be blessed with our miracles one BFP at a time. :-)

spoc: Most of us in this forum know what u r going through. There r some things in life that is not in our control. We can only try our best hope for the best and pray….. we will have to be strong ( actually I am saying this to myself) we both still have hope as I found out that many women didn’t get a BFP till the 16th day…. Hmmmmm and there is always next time ……. Right ?!!?

Babyday - Maybe the 'spotting' that you are experiencing could be old blood?? I go in for my b/w tom and will know for sure what's up. Are you feeling any other symptoms? Sore bbs, nausea?
Bfromthed: I started feeling AF cramps on day 11, 12 and 13. But they are not frequent. I am noticing my bloating has also subsided. The veins are still very obvious - but I think I am a veiny person to begin with :-(
Hang in there B - because I hear a lot of women have AF like cramps but then their AF never comes :-)
Have any of you tried Vitex, baby aspirin, B6 & B50??? I am looking into that.....

i lost my first pregnancy at 27 weeks, and i had 2 misscarages after that including an ectopic pregnancy, i have been trying to have kids for 5 years, and will all these problems it feels like hell. i had iui 4 days ago, and now i have to wait 14 days to see if it is going to work out for me this time. since i did the iui i've been having ovairian pain and i have a bloated stomache as if iam 3 months pregnant is that normal??? anyway i really wish you all the best and sooner or later you are all going to become mums! everything happens for a reason and it all happens in the right time, just keep youselves relaxed and stress free if you can !
spoc: The only extra vitamine I take is prenatal and folic acid let me know if you hear anything on the other med...at this point we will do whatever...:) Keep me posted with your progress...

Lily: I had my first I iui 14 days ago and will go for b/w tomorrow - my clinic gives the results the same day so I'll find out tom if I am or not. In regards to the symptoms, I've had SUPER sore breasts and belly was VERY bloated. 4dpiui I had stabbing pains in my uterus and that stopped....from 2dpiui to 10dpiui I've had twinges, weird cramps on both ovaries. I've also been eating a lot but today everything seems back to normal. I don't care to eat and my bloating has subsided.
After the back to back iuis, I have been placed on progestrone suppos. and estrace. There is a possibility that ALL of my symptoms are due to the meds :-(
Missy: Please stay positive (its really hard) but I keep telling myself that God will bring our miracle soon - maybe its not ready to come be with us just yet :(
Babyday: I soooo want to tell you to POAS because I think the line may be darker - but at the same time if its not that would just break your heart. The fact that you had a faint line is awesome. In regards to the cramping, I had AF like cramps...but they are very subtle. And back pain. The bbs are still sore.
Bfromthed: If I am not preggers this month, I plan to do the following 'recipe' for the month of Jan. They say Vitex helps balance hormones and promotes mutiple egg growth during ovulation (I think that what I read) and baby aspirin helps thin out the blood which increases blood flow to your uterus...so here is a recipe that I found:
Whole Cycle:
1 prenatal vitamin daily
1 baby aspirin (78 to 81mg) daily
1 50mg B6 vitamin in the morning
1 B50 complex in the evening
From day of cycle day to ovulations only:
2 Vitex 500mg in the morning
2 Vitex 500mg in the evening
The most important ingredient:
Positive thinking and a prayer!
I have read a lot of women have had positive results with vitex and baby aspirin....and the dosages are in moderation so I plan to try this next.....anything for a BFP!
I am now about 9 1/2 weeks along after a successful 2nd iui. My DH has zero count so iui with a donor was our only chance to have a child. I am feeling pretty good. I am tired and hungry ALL the time but have had very little nausea. The downside of no nausea is that I'm keeping everything I eat down so I'm already getting a bit of a pooch in my belly. We heard the heartbeat on 12/23 and go for our 3rd u/s on 1/6.
I will be praying for all of you. For those that are new to the site, you have picked a great spot for love and support. Everyone on here is wonderful. Have a wonderful New Year and remember - THIS IS YOUR YEAR!!!!!!!
I've read a lot of posts about women that barely have any symptoms.....you never know....you may be one of those that don't feel anything before a BFP :-)
Sometimes I think its better to have no symptoms then fake ones that come through meds :-(

I forgot to answer your question.....you can get Vitex at a local GNC or any other health store. Its less then $10.00 and I've read from the other posts that it does not have any side effects...but then again all women are different and our bodies may react differently.
I am definately trying it for my Jan cycle.
Happy New Year. Well at least I hope it will be a happy year.....we all get that special gift we all hope for. I am 6dpiui. This is my 2nd iui and unlike the first, I am not experiencing any symptoms either apart from the fact that my DH and I both had the stomach flu for a couple of days that ended yesterday. This was my first new years without any kind of alcohol. I am trying to stay hopeful. I went for my progesterone test yesterday. My RE said that he would call me if my level was low so I could start the prog. suppositories. No call so I guess that is good. It's funny how you start the 2 ww so hopeful. It really gets hellish in the middle of the 2ww when you start to analyze every minute detail of what you are experiencing. Today at lunch, I mentioned to my DH, that every woman I look at is pregnant! So frustrating.
Re. Vitex - aka Chasteberry. I actually bought it and took it for one day before I saw my RE for the first time. He said he did not advocate herbals as there has not been enough published data to prove the efficacy for fertility. When you research the drug, there is a lot of info about Vitex related to both fertility and menopause. For fertility, it is said that this herbal aids the pituatary and hypothalamus glands - each of which is reponsible for the production and release of various hormones that stimulate egg production. The reccommended dosage is 3.5 to 4.2 mg. daily. Typical side effects are headaches and abdominal upsets. It is also prescribed in Europe for PMS (something I will definitely consider taking when all is said and done).
Aspirin - My RE does reccommend 81 mg. daily. Data shows that in addition to helping ovaries respond to procedures such as IVF by improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, it also boosts your immune system. Studies have also shown that taking a baby aspirin daily helps women develop more and stronger eggs.
FYI.....I am not a physician. Most of the above info, I read on-line or in books such as Getting Pregnant by Niels Lauersen, MD.
Lastly, I ache reading some of the posts by those of you who feel like your getting your AF's and can only relate to that deperate sadness. Don't give up hope. I know that pit of despair. It *****! I am 39 and have been ttc for 9 months. I never thought I wanted children until a couple of years ago. Naturally it has become the center of my existence.

I am new to this group. I am on day 9 since I had my IUI. This is my second time doing this and it has been all natural both times. The first time I tried the IUI in November was a very trying time. I had no idea what to expect and pretty much obsessed until I ended up getting my period a week early.
I was curious if someone would be so kind to explain to me the lingo you use on here. I do not know what AF means or POAS. I am actually not sure what BFP or BFN means other than positive or negative. I'm sorry if I sound ignorant.
My situation is a little different than the other ladies on here but I do completely relate to all of you as well. I am in a same sex relationship and been with my partner for 7.5 years. We decided to try to have a family after we bought a house and I finished my undergrad.
Anyways, I have been through a gammet of tests and everything looks good. I had an HSG and was cleared. My doctor at the IVF clinic said I didn't need meds for the first few times. I am wondering why not though because it seems a lot of women do take meds.
I go for a blood test on 1/6 like a few of you. I am excited and nervous because I am fearful of receiving my period. So far it's different from last time in that I don't feel as anxious.
Any reassurement or advice would be so wonderful!

All - crazy thing happened around 10 pm last night. I had the strangest "cramping" in my lower abdomen, it felt like it was right at the front towards my belly, not deeper in my body. Kinda "shooting" like that almost took my breath away...not completely painful, just very strange. I felt it go up a bit, then down to, well, you know...it lasted about 5 seconds. It definitely was NOT gas (tmi) unless that feeling has all of a sudden changed. :) I don't know. It was just very weird and something that I had never felt before, ever. I was hoping that it means something positive, like implantation or something, but you know how every little thing makes us think of something or another...
any suggestions?
Oh, something that has really helped take my mind off of things for a bit of time...playing Wii. I go back to work on Monday, (1st grade teacher) so playing games has actually helped me not obsess while playing. But as soon as the games are over, I head right back to the computer.

I wasn't feeling any cramps this morning but they've kinds started back up this afternoon. A little part of me is hoping for a miracle but a big part of me knows that when the nurse calls and tells me 'its a negative' I'm going to break.
But just like all of you, I will pick myself back up and despite the pain, stand in line to get on the roller coaster for this cycle.

My doctor did 2 IUI cycles with clomid. Now this cycle I am doing Follistim & IUI (which will probably be Tuesday or Wednesday). The doctor said we will try this twice then if it doesn't work we will move on to IVF. I have unexplained infertility so the doctor said for that the highest success is with IVF. But thankfully my inusrance is covering all of this so we have to exhaust the cheaper options first before moving on. I hope this helps!

I think I am out of the race this time...11dpiui no symtoms but all opposites...lots of energy, no sore bbs, and my temp has started to trend down...last time my progestrone was over 50 (it is 58.3 this time) and I got bfn it took me 41 days to have af because my progestrone stayed so high! This is iui number 4 and I wish we could afford to goto ivf! I also broke and took a hpt and it was bfn...If this cycle is truly a bust I think we are going to try two more times and thats it it's becoming too taxing mentally and I am 3 months from being 36 years old! I did it….. it was a BFP … I am hoping that the blood test will give the same result… after 2 natural pregnancy which ended up in miscarriage and 1 failed IUI I am hoping that this time god will be kind enough to give us a baby…
I am talking to much… ok now... I am coming to the point.. this time I had NO Symptoms. Nothing…. Only thing was.. as I said before I only had intense cramps in my lower abdominal (13dpiui and 14dpiui). Crams lasted for 10/15 seconds. The whole time my BB’s were fine and I have shifted to a new home so can’t say there was any lack of energy.
So please be positive… till AF comes there is hope….

all: today I am having all af symptoms no cramps just irritability and everything else that goes with her coming...she is due Tuesday the same day I am supposee to test but I have a feeling she will come before then and my temps wentt from 98.1 to 97.2 this morning...im a little sad but already prepared to try again next month!

Its always heartbreaking to get a bfn...we put so much emotions and money into these attempts and when they fail its really tough.
Mollie....perhaps you can look into Fertility Blend.....it has great reviews and apparently increases fertility by 33%....(atleast thats what I read)...

I'm new to this forum. I've been reading your comments and I too am in the dreaded 2ww! I'm 12 post iui! This is our 4th one. Diag-PCOS did 4 rounds just clomid no luck, Had HSG tubes are open. Then moved on to IUI w/clomid and HCG DH has great count and motility. I'm 31 and he's 33. We are so praying for our miracle! I've had really soar nips for the past couple days. I've had that before and then still got AF.. I think it's side effect from progesterone leves. Did b/w 6 days post iui Projesterone was 26.

i was reading the forums yesterday and im glad that most of us share the same experiences.
i had my 1stIUI on dec27 and will be back for blood test on the 13th Jan. Fingers, eyes and toes crossed!
during this 2ww, my breasts are so sore and i have slight cramping at night. no other symptoms than that.
the nurse advised me not to cycle, swim and jog. anyone has any idea about this?
I'm new to this forum. I've been reading your comments and I too am in the dreaded 2ww! I'm 10 post iui! This is my 1st one and I am scared my bata in 8/1.

Bfromthed and Mollie - I am assuming you two ladies are in the States...so you will be able to get Fertility Blend. I just found out Canada does not sell Fertility Blend because Health Canada has not approved some lame ingredient thats in it!!!!

I have a question. I have now been on clomid for 8mos first 4 was with OB so no ultrasounds or anything just bding every other day. Last 4 with RE doing IUI. Has anyone else experienced weight gain on clomid? I feel like I don't even have control over my body. If this month doesn't work out we are on to IVF. They said that is our next step. We REALLY were hoping not to have to go that route but we'll do whatever it takes. I still have a little hope for this month I haven't officially started yet but feel like it's coming. I have feeling by tomorrow or Tuesday it will be here? The good thing about doing IVF is I get a month to be on bc. Level off my hormones which is much needed!

Lucky: Be careful with the clomid it can thin the lining which we need a nice fluffy place for or miracles to implant! Good Luck :) I did not have weight gain with Clomid just headaches!

As for me. I went yesterday morning for my last ultra sound and I have 3 follies again 2 on my left side that are 17 & 18 in size and one on my rigt which is 19. So I gave myself the trigger shot last night. Now I go in tomorrow 1/6 for my IUI. So my 2ww will start tomorrow. I feel like I jsut got out of the wait yesterday. This time is flying by. So hopefully January is our lucky month!

As for me I am somewhere in the 2WW didn't test or anything this month for ovulation. I was sick on Friday with the stomach bug -- how horrible that was -- and then lastnight I was neaseated again and then this morning I have been feeling that way -- I am due for AF I think on the 11th (since my cycles seem to be 32 days long) but I felt like I ovulated on 12/23 well had the ovulation pain and the EWCM so maybe it was more like xmas eve. I don't know at this point all I know is I want a BFP and a lil baby to hold.

What type of procedure did you do? Are yuo on injectibles? This was my first month with the injectibles. I am hoping first time works. They were such a pain to do everyday. My RE already told me that we are only going to do this twice with IUI then move on to IVF. I am unexplained so this is even more frustrating because the RE can't figure out why I am not getting preggers.

I did in the past do IUI with clomid and 1 iui with injectibles didn;t get pregnant either time.
Sorry to hear about the BFN's. I am 10 dpiui. I had some slight bleeding this morning. Feel's like af is on it's way. I am starting to feel really down. I was told that one should expect af exactly 2 weeks from trigger shot. Does anyone know if this is true?

nattydivine: I have heard the same thing about getting your af 2 weeks from the trigger shot. But for me personally i get my af exactly 2 weeks to the day that my IUI is done.
I'm really benefitting from hearing all your stories. I don't wish for anyone to be going through this but it's nice to have people that understand! Today I'm 14 piui and AF is on it's way.. Started spotting last night and will officially start probably by tomorrow :( I'm very dissapointed as this was our 4th IUI. Our RE said our next step is IVF. I too am considered unexplained infertility at this point and they said the our chances with IVF are much much better. Unfortunately my insur does not cover it so we are dealing with that! I know we can do 1 but if that doesn't work than I don't know what we will do! It's A LOT of money and so worth it to get our miracle but we don't have the luxury of doing a bunch! I'm hoping and praying that we all have some postive experiences early this year!

I have a couple of questions, maybe some of you can help me understand.
First, what does vitex and baby aspirin do? (Right now the Dr. just has me on prenatal vitamins.)
Second, I notice lots of people talk about "beta levels" and going back between IUI and af or taking preg test. My Dr. never even mentioned this (I'm not going to an RE, just a regular OB GYN) What are "beta levels"?
Third, does anyone know an estimate on the cost of IVF and are there payment plans or do they want the total amount up front?

bfromthed: Getting a BFN, AF, is a feeling we can't explain for a "healthy" female to understand. I am soo sorry to hear about your af showing up. I thought crying would help but it didn't so i stopped. God has plans for each of us i know that. Let us all be strong and this too shall come to pass.

As for myself I found out christmas eve it didn't work this time,it was so depressing for me and ruined my christmas.I was so sad!I got AF on Boxing day and stayed in bed the whole day crying.
Anyways i am already into my next cycle I started Gonal F again and went for my first round of B/W today and my estrogen is at 883,they were like wow at RE's office.I take gonal tonight again along with orgelutron shot to stop me from ovulating and go for B/W and U/S tomorrow to see how many follies are coming out to play this month.I am staying positive....well as much as what I can.
I'll keep everyone posted with my news and still love reading everyone's posts as it gives me so much faith and I know I am not alone.

Well I test 1/22/09. So hopefully it worked this month. I am trying to be optimistic.

What was your dosage of follistim. I was on 150 for the first two days then I only had to take 75 the other 4 days. So I guess my eggs were growing pretty quickly. I am still in pain. It is just such an uncomfortable feeling I hate it. But hopefully it will work this month. I think third time is a charm (at least I hope). The RE said this morning that it is normal for my bb's to be sore. Because they said the drugs are stronger. And boy do they hurt. It is insane that started yesterday actually.

I just wish we could get preggo so bad. Our insurance doesn't cover IVF- except for $5000 lifetime. Doc says it is about $15,000 so I am not sure we are ready to go that step yet. We are going to continue IUI's for now. Doc suggested switching from 100 MG of Clomid to 50 MG of clomid and one Follistim shot. Insurance doesn't cover the shots either, so that would cost about $100.00 for the one shot.
Anyway, I go in tomorrow to make sure that all of my cysts are gone, because they had measured so big at the U/S prior to IUI.

They started me out on 100 this time because in 05 I did 150 and they said they didnt want me to move quite as fast because I had IUI on cycle day 10 that year. This time they started me on 100. Well the 100 actually made me move really slow. I did 100 for 5 days, then 150 5 days and then 225 4 days and then the trigger shot Friday at 7 am and then the IUI that next day at like 10 am so I had IUI like 27 hours after trigger shot. My cycle ended up being VERY long and my belly button was soooo purple and black and blue around it from all the shots and I thought for sure it wouldnt work because it was soo different from when I did it in 05 but it did. They say you react differently to the meds each month.
I'm really sorry that your IUI didn't take. Are you planning on doing more?
I had my very 1st IUI on Christmas Eve. I took a HPT this morning and it was negative. I did do it at 13 post IUI, so a part of me is HOPING I might still get a Postivie, but the other part of me just "knows" that it didn't work. This is my 1st IUI and my dr.s office is reasonably priced for it, but the place that did my husband's analysis, blood testing, and wash was $$$$. I'm not sure I can afford to keep doing it. The only good thing out of this was the fact we learned that I am "OK" and more than likely it is my husband's medication that is causing the unexplained infertility. The day of the IUI (he didn't take his meds) the count was way higher than the day of the analysis.
it's so nice to know that there are others out there who are in the same boat. I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to about this as it isn't a usual topic to bring up w/ people.
if it's just slight bleeding 10dpiui, it could be a good sign. somtimes you might get slight bleeding when implantation is happening, and that happens 6-10 days after fertilization.
anyway i wish you all the luck and keep your hopes up !
All: Went to re's office today and and Im starting Gonal F 112.5 and 75 Menopur tonight until Saturady then back for more bw/monitoring...I will keep you guys posted! :)

noel5670: I hadn't heard that conception rates are higher 6 months post lap. That keeps me hopeful. My DH and I are in the same boat as far as alcohol and caffeine. We don't have as much fun these days. His sperm count was excellent the first time I did iui. Per the RE, he had been taking L-carnitine, zinc. "C", and B-Complex. This last iui, he was taking his vitamins daily and his sperm count was half of what it was last time. Stay on your DH to take his vitamins.

In the world of infertility it seems that everybody has an opinion on how YOU can become pregnant. This blog introduces you to some of the most common advice given by "whoever", that has helped everyone else have a child but you. These are Top 10 Common Misconceptions about Overcoming Infertility:
10. Maybe GOD does not intend for you to have children!- Disease is not the work of GOD. In the bible, GOD says "to be fruitful and multiply"! Unless someone is reading a different version than everyone else, children are a part of the divine plan.
9. After intercourse, stand on your head!- It may have worked for some, but I have not found the research to support this one yet.
8. Maybe you are not doing it right!- I've seen lots of books on the topic, but this is not rocket science, ENOUGH SAID!
7. Stop trying so hard!- This may be a valid point to some degree, but how can the desire to have children be classified as trying too hard?
6. Maybe it was just not meant to be!- the advice given by those who have children who are out of control.
5. You won't die if you don't have children!- this statement is enough to make you loose control, it's very hurtful and just plain idiotic!
4. Maybe it's in the water? What does this mean? Are pregnant women drinking from a different water fountain than those who have been trying for years? This one is just mind boggling.
3. RELAX!- This one must be in the console an infertile friend/relative handbook. However, studies do show that stress can play an important role with infertility.
2. Take a Vacation and IT will happen!- Maybe the vacation is needed to get away from the people that make these comments.
1. You can ALWAYS adopt- Some even offer the suggestion of just tricking the mind about adopting. People have heard of a select few that have adopted and then had children. Don't adopt if this is not your heart felt intention.
No matter what comments you hear from friends and relatives about how you can overcome infertility, just let it go! No matter how hurtful the comments may be, remember that these individuals are actually only trying to help. They may not know your trials and tribulations with infertility. There is no code of ethics for others to follow that explains what to say to someone going through infertility. No matter what they say and what idiotic advice they give, continue to have faith and believe that you will overcome this disease.
One instance: On mother's day this past year my husband and I went to church with his family. They started handing out candy bars to all the mothers and all women who have touched the lifes of others (teachers, sisters, aunts, etc.) I took a candy bar and my husband, not realizing the impact it would have on me, said "Your not a mother." This went through me and I'll never forget it as long as I live. He didn't realize how it made me feel, but boy I let him know later that day. He sincerely apologized.
And you just get tired of people saying, "When are you two having kids?" and my reply is always like "Oh, maybe next year" or "We've talked about it". Heck we talk about it weekly and I think about it daily.
MissyZane08: Thanks for answering my questions. They did do an HSG and both of my tubes were open.I probably do need to look into seeing an RE. BUT, DO YOU ASK YOUR OB-GYN TO REFER YOU OR DO YOU MAKE THE APPT YOURSELF? I'm afraid of offending my OB GYN by making her feel like I don't think she can help me. As for insurance, I need to call and check, but I doubt they pay anything on IVF.
I AM NEW TO THE SITE, I HAVEA 2 YEAR OLD THEN SUFFERED 2 MISCARRIAGES, IM ON MY 4TH IUI AND 6 DAYS POST IUI. IM SO GRATEFUL FOR ALL YOUR POSTS, I HAVE BEEN READING FOR A WEEK AND THOUGHT I SHOULD JOIN. I also had an IUI last month and it didn't work... I decided to take a month off too- just to jump off the rollercoaster... I went to the doctor and he said it was ok to go off clomid/HCG shot for a month and then go back- its not something that builds up in your body... so because of that I am now drug free for one month.. the clomid made me too weepy/moody etc.. I just needed a break.... Good luck - let me know if you hear otherwise..

ALL: I am currently 2 days past IUI and my bbs hurt like crazy. This was my first month on follistim the nurse said this is normal but I thought by now it would subside. Did this happen to anyone else on follistim? And if this is one of the side effects did anyone have any others. I would like to prepare myself of what to expect.

I am 37; my DH is 36. We have been ttc for about 9 months. I just did one rnd of clomid (100mg) and my 1st iui on 1/5. I did not have any cramping or effects from it. However, now I am just 3 dpiui and I am having crazy hot flashes. I have been pregnant in my 20's and remember that I did not feel symptoms until after af was due (implantation.) Has anyone here experienced hot flashes at this point? I do not want to get my hopes up but we so desperately, like everyone else here, wants a tiny bambino. (our entire family inclusive of those in India and Italy are waiting to hop a plane:) I am due to go in to dr's on 1/9 for a progesterone test.

to all: im 6 days post iui, no symptoms yet still. not sure if thats good or bad.
befromthe bed: how is your cycle going, i know you were in day 1 a few days ago and then it was very short.
I am back in action now I had to take a month off to reflect the past 2 months and our first IUI which was a bfn. But now I am happy to say I am back and feeling better about everything. We are going to try our 2nd IUI sometime this month we just started takeing Provera to bring on my monthly so we can get started so im thinking it will happen at the end of the month or begining of Feb. My holidays were ok could have been better as im sure all of yours could have been to but things are looking up no dobut. I talked with my DR and he told me that when I do my next IUI instead of takeing Progesterone pills I will need to take Progesterone injections and if I get a BFP then I will need to take them throughout the first 12 weeks and then maybe the last 12. Dose anyone know anything about the injections or has had experiance with them?

i just found out today that a family friend who is 18 just found out she is pregnant and she was not planning this i wish it was that easy for me it is not only emotionally but also finacially tuff we dont have alot of money but having a baby is the only thing i think about and everytime it fails i want to give up but i dont because i know it will happen i just have to keep trying. How do I feel about this? I really dont know. Usually, my Cycle is 23/24 days but there was a 3/2 days delay and u know what that did to us - our hopes were up but now, with AF here......I'm trying not to feel sorry for myself.

We have been trying for our 2nd child for about a year, it took 2.5 yrs to conceive our daughter. I will be 36 tomorrow and I don't want to wait any longer the more I think about it the more I cry. I have undiagnosed infertility, but do have PCOS and MTHFR (clotting disorder).
My trigger shot makes me so sick and then I get to look forward to the Prometrium that makes me feel pregnant and sick. My last go around, I was so sure I was pregnant that I think I tested 6 or 7 times (each with a BFN).
I am so glad that I found this site and there is someone that understands what I am going through.
Waitingfornumber2: I have undiagnosed infertility too. Actually though my OB GYN thinks it is my husband, his sperm count is high, but it is abnormally thick. They have him taking mucinex. We have tried for about thirteen months now. We did an IUI on December 6, 2008. We took a cycle off and we're going to try again the end of January. If we don't have any luck by May I think I might go to an RE. I'm willing to go further if we have to. I don't have any children yet, but I'm just 24. What finally worked for you when you got pregnant with your daughter?
Don't give up and don't discount that you are "just 24". When you are ready, your ready. If you haven't been checked for MTHFR you might what to ask your OB to have you checked. It's a blood test and it also checks for a handful of other disorders. I swear that it was because I started taking a baby aspirin and extra folic that allowed me to get pregnant.

I have had 4 BFN IUI's. The last was this past September. We took a few months off and started saving and preparing for IVF in the new year. Just before we were going to start, I had a change of heart and wanted to try one last IUI. For some reason, in my heart, I felt that one last IUI was the way to go. I am 35 and my hubby is 36 and we have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We've been trying to conceive of 16 months. So, I am currently being monitored and I've been on 75 units of Gonal-F for the first 5 days. Yesterday, they decreased my dosage to 37.5 units because I have 4 good sized follicles and many smaller ones. I am most likely going to do back to back IUI's starting either tomorrow or Thursday. If this doesn't work, we will go ahead with IVF in late February or early March.

I went to re's office today and e2 is 247 on the right I have a 12 and a 10 (I have a tube there) on the left I have a 10 (no tube due to tubal preg) continuing Gonal f 150 and 75 Menopur and back on Thursday for bw/us looking like iui number 5 will be this weekend! :) Hugs and God Bless
Darcy: 2 cycles ago I had 21 follies and still bfn so don't get tied up in the numbers...look at most of the bfps on this site they have 1 or 2 and still have success so don't get tied up in the numbers....good luck and keep us posted:) Baby Dust!...take it easy!
I too felt pregnant and tired on the prometrium and very hard to take care of a child, and i felt guilty taking knaps for a week and then i wasnt even pregnant. I decided to stop taking the prometrium and now just use the vaginal crinone, or prochieve, it is supposed to be more effective and you don't get the systemic side effects of fatigue, moody, etc. the only down is it starts to leak out a little afer about a week, but id rather taht then be tired and not even pregnant. so check with your re and see what they say.
to all: im 10 days post iui, some twinges of cramps here and thier, bbs still feel fine though so im trying to be positive and not think af is coming. Im so excited to be pregnant. Praying like crazy. ok, baby dust to all.
I also started with mild cramping today I hope and pray so much this is a good sign. This whole process is really starting to get to me. I have been very good lately but I don't know what happened my happy switch has been turned off and now I am just getting angry.
Sorry for the vent. Sometimes I am sick of just thinking about all of this too much but I can't help it. Anyone else feel this way.

Hope2009: had had 2 mc too and i know what you mean. I will not be happy untill a baby makes it to 25wks.
We are getting ready to do our second IUI the end of this month. My husband is confident that it is just a matter of time. Right now I'm on cycle day 29 and 75% of my cycles are 28 days. So I did sort of get my hopes up. I've been thinking it will start for 48 hours now. I took my temperature and it was low, like 96.8. I figured it I was pregnant it would probably be much higher (98ish). Anyone ever been pregnant and had low temps?
iui was unsuccessful and iam taking a month off, i do have my right fallopian blocked from an ectopic pregnancy, but i did have 5 good follicles on my left side. now the doctor has asked me to repeat some bloodtests which i have done almost a year ago.
most of the tests have got to do with my thyroid. one year ago my anti- thyroglobulin was high and i wasnt treated. could this be causing my misscarages and my infertility????

I thought I would let you know my status. Still not preggo.... yet. I am hoping it works this month... as I do all the other months.
My RE changed my meds a bit. She calls it a cocktail approach, in hopes that it works this time. The Clomid can thin the lining as well as change the mucus. My lining has always been great, however she is thinking that the mucus might not be as good. She said there was no way to test that, but thought it would be best to switch from 100 mg of Clomid, to 50 mg of Clomid with one shot of Follistim AQ 150 mg. I take the Follistim later today...but have noticed this week that I feel more "wet" than normal. (sorry tmi).
Go in Monday for U/S- and am hoping that I have some good follies. Last month I had 2 30's, and one 27. If all looks good on Monday, then U/S will either probably be Wednesday.
Anyway, good luck to all of those in the 2WW! I hope you all get very sticky BFP's!!!

I have not been on in about a week but try to keep up with everyone's posts.
Quick update on me...2nd failed IUI cycle in Dec (5th iui all together). DH and I met with RE Tuesday to discuss next step. Looks like IVF is it as there is male factor. He has history of low count but the numbers are all over the place. Back in Oct, thought we would have bad sample but after being on clomid, dh's $s were great and still no BFP. So RE decided to continue clomid for him for Dec cycyle and numbers were awful. Count so low after wash that RE decided to not have me come in for 2nd iui day after but to bd on our own...no BFP
Now it looks like we will be doing IVF with ICSI as that takes away the male factor.
Total costs looks like it will be about $15,600. My dh is freaking out. May wait until Jul or Oct ivf cycle to start in order to save up the $$$.
We do not want to finance 100% and have credit card bills galore with 2-3 kids, lol...But if that is the route we have to take, that'll be fine as we aren't the first and won't be the last.

Well I am scheduled to go to the RE office on 1/22 (next Thursday). But on Tuesday 1/20 it will be 2 weeks exactly from the IUI and I was thinking of testing that day. The last two cycles I got my af two weeks to the day from the IUI in the afternoon it was just spotting but I always knew it was coming. SO on Tuesday morning I think I will take a hpt and then see. What do you think? I don't know if I could bare to take one earlier than that because I don't want the dissapointment of another BFN. What do you think I should do? As of today my bbs are still killing me and I am getting mild cramping and I have had a constant head ache for the lsat two days. Not a bad one jsut an annoying one. I hope they are all good signs.
