Hi! I'm brand new to this sight and had my first un-medicated IUI today. I'm 41 and plan to be a single Mother by choice (so scary!) I have been pregnant in the past (terminated)  so I have this hopeful feeling that it's going to happen for me! Just wondering if anyone else had any trouble reading the Clear Blue Easy ovulation predictor kit? It was difficult to tell if the lines were similar! I had to just put it out there to the universe that today was the right day for my IUI (It was day 13 of my cycle and I'm generally a 27 or 28 day cycle) Any advice?? Doe IUI have to be time EXACTLY to the day your egg drops??? Any info would be great! Good luck to all!

Ideally an IUI should be performed within 6 hours either side of ovulation — for male factor infertility some doctors believe after ovulation is better, otherwise chances of success are higher with insemination before ovulation with the sperm waiting for the egg. When timing is based on an hCG injection, the IUIs are usually done between 24 and 48 hours later. Typical timing would be to have a single IUI at about 36 hours post-hCG, though some do it at 24 hours, and some clinics are reporting better results when doing the IUI at 40-42 hours post-hCG. If two IUIs are scheduled, they are usually spaced at least 12 hours apart between 24 and 48 hours after the hCG. Some reports show no increase in success rates with two IUIs, but others suggest it may increase success as much as 6 percent.
Some doctors will base timing of IUI on a natural LH surge. In that case, a single IUI at 36 hours is the norm, but doing them at 24 hours is also pretty common since ovulation may be a bit earlier. When two inseminations are planned, they are usually timed between 12 and 48 hours after the surge is detected.
The egg is only viable for a maximum of 24 hours after it is released.

Thanks for the stats! It all seems pretty complicated! I think I will wait and see what happens in two weeks and if I need to do another IUI it's probably best to be tested by my Fertility Dr for exact timing for the next IUI...then again, I'm trying to stay positive that the first try was a home run ;)

I bought an ovulation kit this month from CVS pharmacy that was there generic brand.  It sucked!  I couldn't even open the packets without scissors.  I couldn't read it either.  They never looked the same but I felt like I was ovulating.  I ended up skipping this month's IUI because I wasn't sure when I was actually ovulating.  I have used the Clear Blue Easy ones and like them much better.  We will try again next month.

Well this was a big let down!  All BFN, huh?  I guess it's been a bad week for most of us.  I went back to the dr today and started another round of Clomid.  They said they saw a cyst on my ultrasound that could possibly be from an egg last cycle.  Has that happened to anyone else?  Also, they said if I don't get pregnant this time (and I'm thinking that's probably the case) I should go have my tubes checked.  Anyone been through that?  My problem was just supposed to be PCOS.  Testing tubes scares me!!  I'm starting to feel like I'm just going through the motions of all this, but not expecting any results.

I am 13dpiui and on the 26th day of my cycle and I still have not gotten AF.  In 14 or 15 months of tracking my cycle it has never gone past 26 days...HPT's are all BFN, but where is AF then??  I had very light spotting 10dpiui...maybe that was implanation bleeding?  I am hopeful :-)

To all that got BFN and AF...I'm so sorry, but don't give up hope.  If you give up hope, what else is there...just "the hole" (depression) and that's never good.  You just have to pick yourself up and try again.

I'm with Michelleinhawaii, that's implantation bleeding!!!  So exciting, you should be very hopeful that this is your month!

Michelleinhawaii, will you have a beta next week if still no AF and BFNs?  Not knowing is always the worst, especially when you have more hope each day.  I know I've said this, by I don't get my positive HPT's until AF is a few days late, so it's totally plausible that you just don't have enough HCG in your system to get a BFP. I hope I'm right:)

I just wanted to add the the OPK conversation.  I buy dip stick tests, both opk and hpt, from earlypregnancytests.com  They are super cheap, come in combo packs and I have found them to be very reliable.  I think my last order was around $20 and I got 15 opks and 5 hpts.  Just a cheaper option to get your testing done...

I've been around for the past week, reading and I've posted twice.  I'm 8 days past IUI and and I  get AF on d 11.  I'm so depressed, I tend to get emotional and a breakout on my face when I'm going to get AF-which I have all of the above.  This is my 3rd IUIwith infectables and I feel that I"m at the end of the road.  I can only afford 1 IVF-b/c then I really have to consider the cost of adoption.  I know that this week was not good for a lot of you, and I hate adding more depression out there.  But right now I feel so alone, no around me knows what to say anymore.  I can't look at pregnant friends/people without my heart hurting...

Laura, I totally hear ya.  I know I am supposed to be happy for others, and to be honest - I AM - it's just hard to think "that will never be me."  I'm having a lot of trouble with the "no one talk to her about babies" thing.  Why??  Do you think I'm going to go all psycho??  LOL!  But also, my brother wants kids really badly.  He JUST met this girl and decided to get married so they could have children.  Nice, right?  Anyway, my husband and I have been together for nine years, married for four (in a few weeks) and even though I KNOW it's wrong... I keep thinking "If he has kids before I do, I'll die."  I'm kind of sick of feeling guilty over this too.

On a side note, all I can tell everyone, is that do not give up hope! It' so easy to get down about everything, I know this first hand! I am almost 42, have had the worse track record in the love department. Always wanted a loving Husband and a home full of beautiful, fun kids. It just hasn't worked out that way. I have spent a lot of time down in the dumps doing the "why not me" dance but decided to get out of that hole and do something about it. I truly believe that if you stick to it, something that you want so badly WLL happen!!! I hope baby dust is spread over all of us ;)

Thanks for the support.  I can totally relate to your situation with your brother. My friend just got married in Oct. and she's 4 mos preg!  I can't stand it-even though I'm happy for her-it's hard to look at her.  I've been married for 7 years in June, ttc for 2 years-and the rest I'm sure you can relate to! :)  As much as I used to love this long weekend-the 2ww will be the death of me!!  lol  Enjoy yours!!

not sure where your from but check local trade schools in your area because i found 1 in ct where i live and it is people going through training for massage therapy and it only costs $20 since they are still in training. feels just as good as a licensed therapist. hope that helps. i had my 1st iui this morning and i had 1 follicle and she said it appeared to have just released the egg . maybe more if they were quick to release. had the trigger shot done in office after the iui and now i have to wait 18 days.

I must admit I'm a little jealous of Jenny909 and her implantation bleeding, as I have not had any:(  My symptoms have really only been some serious pimples, but it started around the time of the HCG trigger, so could it be from that?  Has anyone experienced that?  I can't believe I have to wait at least another week!

I JUSY had my 1st IUI on Friday so this is only day 3 for me, and I'm already going bonkers! I read a great book that talked about the 2WW. It said that whatever it takes, just try not to think about being pregnant, or feeling pregnant etc. If you want coffee, have it, a drink here and there, have it, try to go about daily life like "normal" This is great advice, and I'm trying So hard to do it, but its hard...so YES, plenty of us are in the sam boat!!! It's a torturous 2 weeks, but pretty exciting all the same!!

This is the second bunch of 2ww ers in here and I am still in here "waiting"... it's now 15dpiui and still no AF and I did not even bother to do a HPT today since they all keeping coming up BFN...I'm officially 2 or more days "late"...what the heck is going on here...I'm gonna die...I'm thinking maybe it's stress?  although even when I had a tumor removed a few months ago and was "waiting" for the cancer results my cyle only went as long as 26 days, which was even long for me.

Lolagirl12 ~ What's the name of the book you read?  I haven't had a coffee, caffine, lifted anything heavy, had a cocktail...I feel like if we are going through this and paying for it out of our pocket since insurance covers almost nothing,  I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize the outcome

Laura23, I am with ya 100%.. I had my IUI on May 15th and 16th and this 2ww is driving me nuts too. I don't have any symptoms which makes me feel like it hasn't worked. Although, everyone says that you don't really get any symptoms until a couple weeks after. They say that the 1st real symptom is usually a missed period. I am definitely praying for this but I am real nervous too that it didn't work. My insurance does not pick up any of this and I would really hate to go through this all over again. Not to mention, its so much time off of work between the blood work, ultrasounds, etc.  Are you going back for blood work to see if you are pregnant or did your doctor tell you to take a test at home???

Eclarky, my face has defintely been breaking out a lot. I was wondering the same thing... I don't know if it was from all the meds? They don't make it easy on us do they?

The book I read was called "knock yourself Up" It's an awful title, but a wonderful book. It hit home for me since I'm a single girl doing the baby thing on my own. BUT it talks all about this whole process from start to finish wether you are single, married, gay etc and it's written from excerps of 100s of women like us! Loved it, it helped me make this first leap and it has been a comfort to me from the beginning!

Hey I had my 2nd IUI on May 22nd. After two days of feeling crampy, back aches and being bloated I noticed now some vaginal mucus. It's kinda milky, white. Anyone has any experience with that? I had mucus before, naturally but not after the 1st IUI (i.e. post medication).

I'm 32 (33 in a couple of months) and my DH is 36 (37 in a couple of months).  We have been married 5 years and TTC for about a year and a half.  My husband's semen analysis was normal and my HSG was also normal.  I've had my FSH, estradiol, and progesterone tested and all were normal.  I have cycles between 28 and 30 days long.  I did three rounds of Clomid (my gynocologist thought it was worth a shot because everything seems to be fine) back in October, November, and December with no luck.  Also had bad side effects with Clomid (severe nausea).  I started doing acupuncture about a month ago to help with stress and also because I've read so many positive things about what it does for your fertility.  I did my first unmedicated IUI on May 18th.  I'm now 7 days past IUI and waiting to "feel" pregnant.  It's so hard to stay positive!!!  I wish everyone here good luck and baby dust!!!  It's nice to have other people in the same boat as you are........I'll keep praying for ALL of us!!

No, I'm not going for bloodwork on Tuesday-that's the day (11 dpo) that I will get my period (since starting injectables).  But you can bet that if I don't have it that day I'm doing a HPT Wed morning!!  I just never made it that far yet.  :)  I so hope that we miss this period!  As much as I look forward to Tuesday, I dread it at the same time.  What will you do-bloodwork or hpt?

just had my first iui on May 14, so i have a couple of more days to go for my 2ww to be over with it. Unlike most of the women here, i dont stress myself at all. i will not do a HPT, because i'm too scared of the dissapointment. i rather just do the blood test and get it over with it. So i have one answer and dont need to go trough it again and again.
I rather think negative and get a positive outcome instead thinking positive and being dissapointed. Making yourself that crazy makes no sense. Its torture. But good luck to all the ladies on here...

I am actually going to the doctor on Saturday to get blood work to see if I am pregnant... That is if I dont get my AF first. He told me that based on when I took the HCG shot that if I were to get my AF that I would get it on Wednesday. I am scared to go to work because I am afraid I am going to get it. I know what ya mean...infertility is very stressful, especially after 19 months of BFN's month after month.  It's been quite a journey for us.  We went off our BC pill in Dece 2006 and we were just gonna see what "happens", obviously nothing.  So then I started to track my ovulation with OPK, still nothing.  We finally decided that maybe my husband should see a urologist since he had a birth defect on his man parts, as it turns out due to his operation he had on his parts as a child, he has low volume... meaning that his count and motility are good, but the sperm does not have enough fluids to get to where it needs to be in me.  The urologist suggested we do IUI and my gyno agreed.  Here we are our first IUI.  You would think I would have less stress now since I know there is a medical reason as to why we were not getting pregnant.  I don't feel that stressed, especially since I sat at the beach all day watching a monk seal and her pup...but your mind may think one thing and your body might do another.  I don't know what the dr. will do on Tuesday?  I'm hoping for an ultrasound instead of a blood test since blood tests make me pass out ;-)

This is my 3rd cycle of IUI, and the first two I faithfully (full of sarcasm here) get AF on the 11 dpo.  Today is the 22nd day of my cycle.  Maybe this cycle will be different, my dr had me go longer on the injectables.  I usually only take a week for my follicles to be ready, this time he lengthened it by 3-4 days.  I had quite bit this time around-he said if it were my first time he would have cancelled the hcg shot b/c he was afraid of multiples.  I told him it was more than I had now! :)  So we went ahead with it.

It' beautiful here in NYC! I am happy to hear that you share the same attitude as I do. I'm trying to have these 2 weeks pass by like any other 2 weeks. YES it's hard, but unlike most of the women on this sight, I am single and don't have a Husband or Partner to fall back on or cry to. I HAVE to stay strong and not get myself too crazy. It's more survival mode than anything else. Like you, I am preparing myself to be ok with whatever the result is this month. If negative, it will be painful, but I need to keep positive, and no one will be around to pick me up off the floor so I may as well carry forward. i will just try again the next month. I am so happy I found this sight so I can see other people symptoms, experiences etc..it's been so so helpful.

I have made an appt. for this week as my back went out the other day and I have been unable to move (I'm a runner, so the lack of exercise is killing me!) I'm just 2 days after you (mine was done on 5/23) so we are have almost similar schedules. I had zero pain or cramping during the actual IUI and very little of anything ever since. I'm beginning to wonder if that' ok or what?? I had no injectable or meds with this IUI so maybe that's why? Everyone else here seems to be feeling SOMETHING? Is 3-4 days post IUI too soon to feel anything?

16dpiui and still no AF, tested this morning and another BFN...It's day 29 in my cycle while I usually have a 21-26 day cycle.  I guess I have to take off work tomorrow so I will be available for whatever time the dr. has an appointment.  He's gonna do a blood test huh?  I was thinking maybe it could be ectopic and that's why the pregnancy test is coming up BFN...woke up with lower back pain this morning (could be because my husband was sleeping with his heavy leg on me again)

I rather enjoy my two weeks. Be positive! i know it has been my 1st iui and most women here are on #3, 6 or 13 ... so it can get kind of hard. I've been trying 6 years... and am now exploring different alternatives. Life is not over yet... 8)

I know how you feel, my husband lost his father and his step-father this past year and we thought for sure that we would be pregnant soon.  Especially considering all the heartache and loss the family and my husband has endured.  The family is entitled to some kind of good news! I've learned to accept that It's all in god's time, not ours.  just because you got a BFN at the hospital doesn't mean anything...didn't you just have the IUI done last week?  maybe it was too early to detect any HCG?  Did you get AF?  Just relax and take it easy the next few days, I'm trying my hardest to do the same and I know it's easier said than done. Just hang in there :-)

To all, thanks for the discussion about acupuncture.  It is something I've been quite interested in.  There is place near me that does massage, etc, but they have acupuncture, even some specifically to support IUI or IVF.  The IUI this month happened so quickly that I didn't get a chance to set it up, but I definitely plan to do it if I need to do another IUI in June.

I know how it is with insurance. My insurance is not covering any of this either.... that is just another thing to make this more difficult for us.
I am with ya on no sleep... Every little thing i feel on my body i start to freak out thinking i am getting AF. I dread being at work too but hopefully it will keep our minds off of things. Keep us posted. I am pulling for ya!

Jenny909.. Very sorry to hear about the bad day / months you have been having. Stay positive though, may have just been too early to test. I know someone that was in a car accident, went to the hospital and told them she may be pregnant.... The hospital gave her a test and told her it can back negative. A couple weeks later she found out she was pregnant and the hospital gave her wrong info. Good luck!

I am on 11dpiui and i started to feel crampy off and on today :(... I really hope that i am not getting AF. My doc said based on when i had my injections that if I were to get AF, it would most likely be tomorrow. I can't stand waiting. I have to see if I get it tomorrow or any other day this week, if I don't then I go in on Saturday for blood work to test.
If you are only on day 8 I would think you were going through implantation.  :)

i had my first iui last may 8 after having repronex injectables for 9 days and hcg shot before my iui.  i had my 2ww but it was extended for 5 more days to really confirm the result.  i had my first blood test last may 22 and i only had 13 for my hcg, they want more than 100.  i had another blood test last saturday and i only knew about the result yesterday  and it was only 47 but going up.  i had another blood test this morning and the nurse just told me that i have 152.  finally, she said i am pregnant!  wow,  i am so happy that i cried  while i told my husband on the phone.  i tested using HPT last sunday and monday  and it came out positive but i want the confirmation from my nurse.

Maybe you are a late implanter...I will keep my fingers crossed for you -- I really hope that the cramps are implantation.  It would make such a great Early Father's Day present for my husband and our parents.  I had a m/c in February -- I did 100 mg of clomid and we tried naturally -- I had cramping around the same time 8-9 dpo so I am hoping that this is implanation.  But dont wanna get too excited yet -- I still have a week to go -- some websites say I can test as early as Thursday (4 days before I would expect my next period)  I so wanna test then but am scared it will be a BFN -- I will be devastated.

Jenny -- when is AF due?  When was your IUI?

I had cramps for a few days after my IUI on the 16th.  If you think about it, it is kind of invasive so it would make sense that you might have cramping.  I don't necessarily think it's a sign either way, just more a symptom of the procedure.

Jenny909, I'm so sorry!!  Let yourself be sad for a couple of days and then pick up and start again:)  I know it's awful, but I personally think you need that day to grieve it, so I'm glad you're home today:)

Well I was planning on buying a hpt tomorrow-but I'm starting to spot and I'm pretty crampy.  It's pretty faithful (day 11 piui).  It's been my 3rd iui and like I said this morning-I'm on to ivf in July.  I'm so sad-like all of us-I want a baby so badly.  I hate the fact that I have to tell my husband-it's so hard to worry about his feelings when I need to take care of my own.  I would love to know WHY THIS IS SUCH A HARD PROCESS!!

I think that I'll make some more acupuncture appts...

Well it looks to be good old AF. My dr is setting me up with the july cycle of ivf-but my dh is now unsure that anything will work.  It's just a real bad night.  I always planned on one cycle of ivf and then on to adoption (I don't know how to financially swing this or get my dh on board with everything).  I guess things work in mysterious ways...

Well i had my IUI done on the the 19th and am 9 days in, I'm gonna take a hpt on Saturday,my period is due on the 5th of June. I just hope all goes well. I had a lot of cramping last week after my IUI, i dont know if it was from the IUI or what, but it lasted for about 4 days. The cramping was  very painful, felt like i was have my period. Just a heads up... The 2ww gets even worse as you get closer to the end. I am on 12dpiui and I could get AF at any point. I had bad cramps yesterday but they seem better today. Every little thing I feel is driving me nuts because I am afraid that I am getting AF.
My doctor told me that based on when I had my HCG shot, if I were to get AF I would most likely get it today. It is going to be a LOOONNNGGG day!
We all just have to be strong together.

hi!   i had a series of blood tests before they finally confirmed that i am pregnant.  i had my first blood test may 22 after 2ww  but the nurse said i had only 13 and they want 100 for the hcg.  blood test on saturday again and i had 47  and another blood test yesterday and i had 152.  finally, they said that i am preggy.  the nurse saidthat the hcg count should double every 2 days  to confirm pregnancy.  i took a HPT and it turned out negative the night before my first blood test.  i broke down in tears  until the next day.  but there was hope since they want to do a series of blood test to confirm.  

hopefully, evebody will get a BFP soon..

You know Last cycle I drove myself crazy b/c I had all kinds of symptoms.  I was nauseated and I just didn't feel right.  My Dr. Said that could be a side effect from the trigger shot.  I haven't really had any symptoms this time other than some slight cramping and sore bb's.  I did have the mucus thing also and I did not have that last time.  Maybe that is a good sign.  It is really hard not to get your hopes up with every little new thing that happens.  I am scheduled for a blood test 6/5 also.

Well, went to the dr. and had my bloodtest yesterday...won't know the results till later today.  But those HPT's are still negative, so I think I am a freak of nature.  The dr. said sometimes for some reason AF just does not come...maybe the comination of the hormones and some reaction to them?  Of course I would have a reaction to hormones...I have a reaction to everything, even baby lotion gives me hives!  If the blood test comes back negative for BFP, then I have to start more hormones to force my AF to come.  This is absolutely ridiculous and I can't believe that I am in for another month of this!  Oh and to top it all off...I have a major fear of needles and getting blood tests...yesterday while they were doing my blood my vein collapsed...SICK!  Now they have increased my anxiety and I don't know how I will get my next blood test, which will probably be soon.  Thanks for letting me vent...off to work.  I'm a preschool special education teacher and I have to go pretend that the world is full of sunshine and rainbows and butterflies...when all I want to do is stay in bed and cry.

YES, I had my 1st unmedicated IUI on the 23rd. I have the same symptoms as you..just a tiny bit of light cramping but that's it. I'm going to try to hold out to do a home test till the 7th or 8th. Seems like a lifetime away but don't want to set myself up for disappointment getting a BFN by testing too soon! Glad to have "met" another 5/23 lady ;)

Last month I did clomid and tried "naturally" -- I tested from like 10 days on and all of them were BFN -- I was so upset too -- but I then wasn't that bad when AF showed up because I just knew she was coming -- and that made me look forward to starting my first IUI with clomid.

I was pregnant in February and miscarried -- I tested the day before I was due and got my BFP -- a week later it was gone...

I should tell you a story about a friend of mine who had been trying to conceive for YEARS. She went thru IUIs IVFs and nothing was happening, and like you, no expalined reason for not conceiving.  She and her Husband nearly went into debt and it put so much stress on their marriage. They gave up trying to have a baby, and split for awhile then tried getting back together a few months later. While on vacation they recindled their love for each other and 9 months later their little girl was born. I hear this all the time. but think it's true..the more stress you put into it, the least amount of luck in conceiving. I KNOW it's got to be so so hard after so long of trying but it DOES happen, and my friend is living proof ;)

hi!   after my second blood test on saturday,  i took a HPt sunday morning and got positive.   that same day, i realizedi have been eating a lot.  sunday, we drove to monterey, ca to visit my brother and sister in law and she said that i might be pregnant  because i am always hungry.  monday pm on the driveback to LA, i felt like throwing up but nothing is coming out.  now, i have lower back pains  and some spotting.  sunday night, i thought i will get my period because i had cramping and spots.

Did anyone that got their BFP's feel pregnant or have any symptoms -- stuffy nose -- sore breasts, sick, cramps, face break-outs???  I am 9 dpiui and besides cramping on Friday Saturday and Tuesday I feel perfectly fine -- usually like a week before AF comes by chest is sore -- but that hasn't started to hurt yet and no pimples...any thoughts on this???  I think I am hungry more than usual too.

I'm so excited that there is another "single Mom by choice" on this sight! While we are all dealing with the same things, it's a little added bonus for me to know someone else understands the extra stress of going it alone!
Although I have already had my first IUI, I went to a new Acupuncturist last night for a back problem. I told her I MIGHT be pregnant and she told me that Acupuncture's is the best thing you can do when trying to conceive! She told me if it didn't happen for me this month, she would help me for my next IUI..I have also heard that it's a great thing to do after conceiving to reduce risk of miscarriage! I think you should give it a try!

Yes things are better-it's always tough the first day I find out that I'm not preg.  We talked today and are going through with the ivf in july-it's the soonest I can get in.  This is a whole new ball game for me!  But I did find my meds online for 1/2 the price.  I hope that my dr. goes for it.  Keep me posted!! :)  Since you didn't get af yet today-that's a good sign!!

Kramik107-I think that it's a good sign that your bbs are not sore and you didn't break out.  My sure signs are unexplained crying/crankiness and facial breakouts.  And I got them last weekend and af came like clockwork.  So, maybe you're in for a bfn!!

matty1972-I've tried acupuncture and it is great for relieving stress.  It was the best thing that I ever did, even if it didn't work this time.  I really want to get back into it.  You just feel so relaxed afterward, at least I did.  Let me know if you have any questions.  :)

Well my results came back...BFN!!!!!  I knew already, I felt it in my heart and had my breakdown last night, by the time I got the results today I already accepted that it was a BFN.  It's official my first IUI has failed, on to round #2.  The good news is that my AF came today naturally 11 days late at that!  I don't have to take the Provera to start my AF, that's good since I always get my period like a clock and this was the first month in my life ever that I missed a period.  The doctor said that that just happens sometimes and he doesn't know why.  I asked if it could have been stress and he said NO...stress can delay ovulation which would delay a period, but since I definately ovulated I should have gotten my AF with 14 days after the IUI.  Interesting, I thought...

I am thinking I am going to try acupuncture this month as well and see a Hawaiian healer.

my blood test is on friday may 30th,but iwoke up at 3 am to take hpt which is my first since my iui on the 15th and 16th,it turned out positive,iam so excited and scared at the same time as i don't know if it is false alarm or that is it.do you know of anyone who got aa positive hpt and got a negative blood test?pls i need you all surport.i pray that this it.

Laura23- I am glad you are going for the IVF in July. I know it sounds like eternity but it will be here before you know it. Summer always goes fast.
As for me.. No AF yet! :-)... And the cramps I had are not nearly as bad as they were the other day. I don't want to jinx it but I am really praying it worked.  I would think I would be able to take a HPT tomorrow but I am scared to. lol... I think I am just going to wait until the blood work on Saturday. At this point, whats another day right? lol.

I'm so sorry...I can't imagine how tough this must be since you had such a late AF.  You're right, it is great news that you don't have to take more meds to get AF to come.  It sounds like you're in a great place, when will you start more meds?  Is it going to be injectables?

dolly150 - WOW!  So exciting!!  It seems like your positive should be reliable, my IUI was also on the 16th and my dr said I could start testing 2 weeks after.  Of course I won't since my cycles are longer, I'm trying to hold out through the weekend.  You give me hope, congrats!!!

In regards to acupuncture, I've been looking into it and will give it a try next month.  It sounds like they recommend you start 2-6 months before you start, but it sounds like it really does help with blood flow.  It's nice to hear from people who've had success.

Think positive... not negative. I am on 13dpiui and I don't have any symptoms. My dr told me that if I was going to get AF that I should have gotten it yesterday. I can definitely still get it but that was the day it was "scheduled." A lot of the posts on here from people that did get BFP did not think they were pregnant either. They were expecting a BFN because they did not have any symptoms... So hang in there.. Hopefully we are in for a BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No HPT test... My dr advised not to because he gave me a shot of Novarel last Thursday. He said it could still be in my system and give me false results... So i am too scared to. I only got a low dosage and I read that the dosage I got only stays in your system for about 7 days which would be today... But i think i just want to wait until the blood work on Saturday and find out from them.

Well the dr said i probably would get AF 5/28 which was yesterday.. I didnt get it :) but he said to hold off until Saturday to get tested to make sure I dont get it and to make sure all the meds are completely out of my system so i get an accurate result

On Saturdays they do blood work for anyone that needs it between 8am-8:30am... Then they call u with the results before 12 cause thats what time they close on Saturday

Well ladies I feel really crummy today. I am 7dpIUI and I do not feel well at all. I am congested I have had a bloody nose everymorning for the past 3 days and nothing seems to agree with my stomach. I don't know if I am coming down with something or if this is a symptom.  Has anyone else experienced this?

I had my first unmedicated IUI on May 18th.  Now 11 dpiui.  Mild cramps for a couple of days.  AF due within the next couple of days.  RE said if I don't get AF by Sunday (6/1) to call office to schedule bloodwork.  Trying hard to stay positive, but cramps make me feel like AF is on her way.  I've been doing acupuncture for the past month.  Had a treatment the day before IUI and right after the IUI as recommeded by my acupuncturist. Hope it helped!!  I also have unexplained infertility.  Please keep your fingers crossed for me.......mine are crossed for all of us here!!

Hi All, I am new to this community. I had a 4 cycles of chlomid and 3 IUI, the 4th cycle made my linning really thin. Took a break for 2 months and started with a new RE where our insurance had coverage. Had my my first cycle with Femara and did an IUI on May 20th. The wait is really difficult, felt good to join a forum where there are similar folks.

When I was going through my iui with injectables, I had to have bloodwork done within the first 3 days of my cycle.  I think that you were unmedicated, but I know they are checking the estrogen levels.  They make sure that the come down with the beginning of your cycle.  I know how you hate bloodwork-sorry!

I'm signed up for my ivf cycle in July.  I just got my calendar with the schedule of all of the meds-it's so overwhelming and a bit scary with all of the stuff that you have to put into your body.  Has anyone, or is anyone going through this?  I though IUIs were a lot to do!  :)

Well, the AF cramps have started so at this point, I'm thinking my best case scenario is that I get af early and am out of my "misery".  I'm not due until 6/1 or 6/2, but with all the drugs, who knows what my cycle is doing.  I'm sad, but I did not have that feeling this month so I'm not all that surprised.  Just cross your fingers that I get af tonight and dont' have to live with false hope until Sun or Mon!!  I hope some of you (kramik107 and mary986!) have some better news!!!!!

Jenny, I know about the weight gain... I keep trying to be good about my eating, then think "what if I'm denying myself nutrition that will help get me that BFP?!"  So then I eat more, gain more, and think "okay, I'll just work out harder."  Then every time I have another IUI, I think "Don't work out so hard or you'll get a BFN!!"  So I'm just getting fatter and fatter.  I don't even want to weigh myself anymore.  I just know my brother is getting married in June, and I'm going to have to wear a tent.  :(   So I can see my whole family and tell them how we're trying as freakin' hard as we can so shut up.... AND be fat.  I know a lot of it is from the meds, but I am guilty of depression indulgences as well.

I'm still really crampy and while trying to fall asleep last night, had some sharper, ovulation-type pains on my left side - has anyone else experience this?  Now it's just back to what feels like some pretty serious AF cramps.  My bbs also seem to be a bit sore.  I guess it's not over 'til it's over, but these cramps have me pretty certain it's AF.

Hello Ladies... Well I never thought I would get excited to feel sick. This morning when I woke up I felt sick as I was trying to brush my teeth. I really hope this is a sign. Due to find out results on the 7th (my bday!) or the 8th. How are YOU feeling? What day are you on? Do you have a good support group there for you since you are a single mom my choice??

Sorry for the late update...I did have my 1st ultrasound last Friday 05/23 and the doctor just found a gestational sac, no heartbeat. He said that it was a good size and the location was good. He said that I might have had a late implantation so its possible that he miscalculated me for 6 weeks. My doctor tried to zoom in to see if he could get a better view of the gestational sac but said that it was blurry due to the size.  Honestly..my mind just stopped working the moment that he said that he did not see the heartbeat. Doctor said to relax since it might be too early in the pregnancy but as you know, its just really hard not to worry at this point. They checked my progesterone level and found that it was 7 which was low.  He said I needed at least 10 so he gave me a progesterone shot last Saturday and 30 days of vaginal progesterone suppository. Will be having another u/s this afternoon at 3:15.  I've noticed that my nausea is not as bad as the first week and my bbs are not that sore anymore.  I still urinate frequently, have a bloated stomach and no bleeding.  I'm really praying so hard that its not a blighted ovum for me....:-(
Sorry for missing out on the updates this week.  Everything just seems to be blurry for me right now until I see and hear what the u/s results are today.

The first week after IUI, I did not feel anything at all.  It just started on the second week.  I thought I was just imagining the nausea since I desperately want to be pregnant.  My bbs were sore and tender and had some mild lower abdomial (abdominal) cramping just like I was going to have my AF.  So don't give up yet...the AF and pregnancy symptoms are very close to each other.  When will your 2WW be over?
