Hey there,

I am not going through treatment at the moment. I felt I needed a break for a while after 3 months of trying I just felt that I needed to try other things to get my body more prepared for the fourth and hopfully last attempt.  Hope the gassy and bloated feeling is a symptom for you.

Praying for you.

Bloating is fun isn't it? Ugh, I swear right now I LOOK like I'm 5 months pregnant!

I think that's a great decision, and clearly shows maturity and a level head. I think it's important to "regroup" for a bit and get part of yourself back, since this process can make you lose track a bit, or lose yourself for lack of a better expression. Thanks for the good wishes and good luck to YOU when you decide to try again ;)

Congratulations!  Wow, I feel like a lot of of you have been lucky within the last couple of days!  It gives me some hope!

I can't wait to hear from Mary and the others in their 2ww.

Everyone,
I'm still following everyone, and wish the best for everyone.  However, it doesn't seem that anyone is now going through, or will be, the ivf process. I hate to leave you girls!!  This, at this point, will be my last attempt.  I physically and emotionally (and financially) can't do much more than ivf.

Dolly150- CONGRATULATIONS!!! So happy for you - and thanks for giving all of us hope!
Enjoy every bit of your next wonderful 9 months!!!

lolagirl212- Bloating and gassy?! Oh ya girl, I hear you on that one. I had it for 7 days straight, right after iui, really bad. Today somewhat (8 dpiui) better but not all gone. Still look pregnant (i.e. wondering if I swollowed a basketball) not as gassy so. Friends told me it is a good sign...we shall see!

Live4baby ~ I took your advice and had a girls night out eith my girfriends we went to dinner and saw Sex in the City.  I had some cocktails and I haven't had anything to drink in weeks, so that was FUN!  I also had a carmel macchiato from starbucks, regular instead of decaf :-) Good luck with your ultrasound and hopefully they will find some good follies.

eclarky ~ I'm doing much better.  I think my AF was so late from all the meds.  I actually have a very regular cycle and I ovulate naturally every month, but since I have short cycles my dr. thought that maybe my eggs were not devloping and he put me on clomid.  He thought that my eggs could have been the reason why were have not conceived in so long...he was wrong!

lifeisshort ~ I'm sorry to hear everything you have been going through.  If you are only 6 weeks, then it's probably just a little to early to hear a heartbeat.  I think you have to be 7-10 weeks to hear the heartbeat?  Hopefully that's the case.  I will keep you in my prayers.

As for me...I am doing great.  I never thought I would say this, but I am so happy that my AF came.  What a load off...that was very stressful.  I think my doctor is finally convinced that it really must just be my husband as to why we have not concieved.  This cycle I did not have to get my bloodwork done, phew!!!  And I will not have to be on any clomid or anything else...au natural.  I am scheduled for mu ultrasound on June 9th and I will be doing 2 IUI's this time...1st one on June 10th and the second one on June 12th since the office is closed June 11th.  Is that common to do them so far apart (48 hours apart)?

I almost forgot to wish you luck with you IVF process...take the next month to relax and get your mind, body, and soul all in sync. I think it will help...these fertility treatments are so intensive and they just take your life over with consumption.  I never thought it was going to be as hard as it is to go through the IUI and I hear that the IVF requires a lot more that the IUI, so really make sure you take care of yourself.  Get ready for summer, it's the best time of year.  Are you a teacher?  I can't remember if you said you were a teacher?

Well they called me. I got a BFN. They said I may not have gotten my AF yet because it just could have been a reaction to the meds. We are just trying to take this all in right now. I guess its onto all of this all over again.
Good luck to anyone else testing today.

dolly -- Congratulations!!!  I hope everything works out well for you.

lolagirl -- ugh I know -- it would be awesome to be pregnant and bloated.  Yes I am 12 dpiui today and held off on testing I might do it tomorrow or Monday when AF is due.

Mary986 -- my fingers are crossed for you girl -- I hope they call with great news for you -- as for me -- I chickened out this morning -- I couldn't do it -- I so don't wanna be disappointed -- so I will maybe do it tomorrow or wait and if AF is not here on Tuesday then I will test then.

Thank you all for your support. I definitely let it out and cried.  I did  end up getting AF about an hour after they called me. Go figure right? So now we are just going to figure out how we are going to be able to afford this again and move on to our second IUI procedure.I hope to hear some BFP's from those of you that will be testing soon so that it boosts my hopes and spirits.

I'm sorry...why does it always happen like that, right after you go for the blood test AF comes?!?!  Bizarre, same thing happened to me and my AF was 11 days late...maybe that needle triggers it, LOL.  We'll be starting our 2nd IUI as well.  It was very disappointing when that first one didn't work...I was so hopeful since we were actually doing something different.  The dr. says that on an average it takes couples 3 or 4 times since you get a 25-30% chance each attempt.  I was just so hopeful that I would have been one of the lucky ones to have it work on the first try.  Just pull yourself back together and enjoy the next two weeks without having to worry that you "might" be pregnant...it really helps!

by mary986, May 31, 2008 03:22PM
To: Michelleinhawaii
Thanks for the support. It sucks cause you think you are finally doing something that gives you hope it will work and to top it off the # 1 symptom of pregnancy happens (No AF) and then you get news that you are not pregnant and then AF shows up. I really wish you weren't in the same boat as me but it definitely does help knowing someone else going through what I am. What day are you up to on your new cycle? Did you start injections? Good luck!... Hopefully I hear good news from you and hopefully mine will be right behind you in the next  month.

That is a great way of looking at it --- I will keep everything the both of you said in the back of my head if I dont get that BFP this month.  This was my first IUI with 100 mg of clomid -- I am 12dpiui AF due on Monday. IF AF comes I may have to take a month off as we will be in OCMD when I would be due for my second IUI.  SO I am PRAYING that this first one worked.  But if not I will be with the 2 of you and following right behind. (but I will probably be au naturale -- watch that is when it will work!

Good luck to the both of you.

Thanks for the support!  I did exactly what you did and had a fun night with my friends.  We had some drinks-which IS fun when you've stopped drinking for a while!  I plan on trying to relax the month of June and get ready for the big ivf process.  It is a huge deal, you have to see the calendar my dr. sent me with all of the meds on it.  It's crazy.  Anyway, I'm hanging on and I"ll be around to stay updated with everyone.

Mary986-I am SO sorry to hear about your bfn.  Take this time to enjoy whatever you couldn't during your 2ww.  I did and it was therapeutic!  We're here for you!!

by Michelleinhawaii, Jun 01, 2008 12:46AM
Mary 986 ~ I am on day 4 of my new cycle and I am scheduled for 2 IUI's this time on June 10th and 12th.  I won't be taking any clomid this cycle since my dr. thinks that may have been the reason for the AF delay...it will be au naturale.

Kramik107 ~ I will keep you in my prayers tomorrow at church and hopefully you will get your BFP on your first try...that would be great :-)

Laura23 ~ Glad to hear you had a good night out...it really helps.  I can only imagine all the procedures and meds for the IVF.

I made my first acupuncture appointment for next Friday, so I'll let you guys know how that goes.  The woman specializes in fertility and told me it is especially beneficial to do it before and after IUI or IVF...we'll see.  I figure it can't hurt?!?!?

Hi Everyone. Well, I'm 14 days piui and no AF yet.  Today is day 32 of my cycle and I've never in my life had a cycle longer than that.  It's generally 29-31 days.  I took a HPT this morning and it was a BFN.  I don't even feel like I'm getting AF today.  Wonder why I haven't gotten her yet.  The IUI was unmedicated so drugs shouldn't be delaying it.  Just hoping there's not enough HCG yet to get a BFP.  The doctor said I should call tomorrow if AF doesn't come.  I'll keep you all posted.....wish me luck!!

Hi!
How are you doing? We are both 9dpiui! From one 5/23-der to another..the wait gets harder as it goes on! Just thought I would check in and see how things were. I'm tempted to take a hpt tomorrow but need to force myself to hold out. I have a slight metallic taste in my mouth and very soar bbs. Not sure if it's the power of suggestion or real symptoms?

alihoff: GOOD LUCK! I'm thinking good thoughts for you!

Michelleinhawaii: You sound great! I'm glad you are moving forward and have a good attitude! Acupuncture is a fantastic idea, I have started going myself once a week..

Your symptoms are sounds really good.  I have everything crossed for you.  I think you should hold out and not test tomorrow just incase your HCG levels aren't high enough to detect a BFP.  I have a great feeling about you!  Praying for you.

You are wonderful! I thank you for crossing everything ;) You're also right about waiting to test. I'm going to try and hold out..so hard but hopefully worth the wait. How are you feeling about your decision to take a break? Is it giving you a clearer mind?

Its really hard.  Not sure how long I can hold out for!  It's sort of giving me a clearer mind.  Some mornings I wake up and say thats it I'm not gonna try again and then a few hours later I am working out when would be the best time to try!!! It is hard doing it on your own.  I have friends that I can bounce ideas off, but its not the same as having a partner's support.  You know what I mean.

Hi Lolagirl,
I am new on this board.  I am also 9dpiui.  I am supposed to go in for an early beta on Tuesday but thinking I may hold off until Thursday.  Can't bear to hear another BFN.  DId you take any meds?  How many IUI Cycles have you had.  And also, did you do 2 back-to-back this month?  Sorry for all the questions.  This is my first IUI cycle and not sure what to expect.  I hope you get your BFP soon!!!

I SO know what you mean!!! It's very hard doing this on your own and I have the same hour by hour conflicting feelings about things and feel like a crazy person sometimes because I have so many inner dialogues with myself. Friends can be wonderful, but ultimately they don't get it and there is just so much you can burden them with. A partner is a completely different story..I hear ya. IF you decided to try again, when would you need to make that decision? Try and imagine how you will feel if you don't try this month. Will you feel disappointed? If the answer is yes, then perhaps you should continue. It's a hard call. Please feel free to write me whenever you need an ear..I think we have a different circumstance than some of the other women on here and I'm with you all the way whenever you need

Hi Linda,

Glad to hear from another lady on the same cycle as me! This is my first IUI as well. I did it without any meds or injections and my Dr only did one IUI but I've heard that some do back to back ones. I'm not sure what a Beta is? Is that blood work to see if your are pregnant? I'm going to do a hpt next Sat (IF I can wait that long ;))
How are you feeling? Any early symptoms? My only symptoms are soar bbs and a slight metallic taste, but this could also be pms..trying not to make my self nut over it! Hard.

Hi Lolagirl,
Yes, it is so exciting to see that another person is on the exact same cycle!!  Yes, a beta is the blood test to determine pregnancy.  My doctor has ordered a beta on Tuesday, June 3rd but that would only be 11dpiui, which I personally think that is too early.  SO, I am going to try and hold off until Thursday.  I had 2 back-to-back this month - the first on the May 22nd and the second on the 23rd.  We were also ordered to BD on the night after the second IUI (how unromantic when you are ordered by your doctor to have sex!!!!)  Anyway, I had 2 mature follicles and my dh count was 20-30 million washed with 85% motility (which the doctor was very happy about).  I had wished I produced at least one more follicle but my doctor was not concerned.  He just warned me about the "risk" of multiples. By the way,  I am 34 and my dh is 35.  We've been trying to conceive naturally for 8 months and this our first IUI cylce.  As for symptoms, I feel sore boobs (which is normal for me at this time in my cycle), I feel very tired, and have also been bloated and constipated (sorry, TMI)  for the last few days.  Oh ya, I took 100mg of clomid (days 5-9) and I am inserting natural progesterone ovules each night since my last IUI for 12 nights.  I will let you know how it goes. Also, let me know your news.  I will keep you in my prayers.  Best wishes,
Linda

Hi Linda,
I wonder why your Dr wants to test you tomorrow? That seems awfully early (11dpiui?) I think you are right to want to wait until Thursday. I think i'm going to do a home test Wednesday, I just can't wait anymore! I must say I feel a bit out of the loop as far as understanding all your stats. I'm new to this and my first IUI was unmedicated and I was not monitored by my Dr, but calculated my own ovulation cycle (I hope I was accurate) I think if it doesn't happen for me this mont, I will have him monitor me, it's just so costly ugh! Please let me know how your week goes!!!

I woke up to awful cramps and AF soon followed.  Still just spotting, but I'm not under any illusions, it's definitely here.  It was only my first IUI, so I knew it may not happen, but I'm still so sad.  I'll call my DR later to get prescriptions, this month I'll start injectables.  I will also call later to set up acupuncture to support the IUI.  Saturday I had a bit of a breakdown, so today I'm more calm, which is strange.  I'm sad, but okay.  On to month 19 of TTC.....I hope other have better luck in the coming days!!!!!

I'm so sorry..how disappointing that must have been. Y'know, I think your sense of calm makes sense. You seemed to know what was coming and prepared yourself for it even if you weren't aware of actually doing so. The mind and soul have a way of taking care of themselves on their own. I'm happy that you will try Acupuncture, I think this is a great step. Again, so so sorry, but please try and keep hope, that it WILL happen soon ;)

So sorry you ended up getting AF. Hang in there. I totally understand how you feel. I am going to start my 2nd IUI as well. I go to the dr tomorrow for bloodwork and ultrasound and will probably start the injectables again tomorrow night. Be strong.. hopefully the 2nd IUI will work for both of us

To: lolagirl
Hi Lola,
Sorry to confuse you with all the stats.  Did you doctor monitor you at all?  I had to have an ultrasound beginning CD 4 every morning (at 7am which was VERY difficult) in order to track my follicles (eggs).  Once the follicles were big enough, he ordererd that I give myself a HCG shot the night before the insemination, and then as I said, had 2 back-to-back inseminations.  For the high price we pay, you should at least be asked to be monitored, whether or not you are on injectibles or meds. I am not sure what you pay, but for just the procedure and monitoring (without meds) is $560 for me.  It adds up very quickly!  Best of luck! I'll let you know how things go. Babydust!!!

Yesterday was 13 dpiui I decided to give in and test and no surprise it was a BFN....I was so upset...so I cried to my husband -- then I felt better a little while later.  Today is 14dpiui and so far no AF....She needs to come today.

I am kinda hoping that maybe 13 dpiui was too early to test (doubt it) but if AF does come I will just put the first IUI behind me and hope the 2nd one works.

Good luck to all still waiting to test.

Yes I know.  Did AF ever come?

If the test was right and AF does come I may take the month off -- we are going on vacation June 20th -- I don't wanna medicate and not be able to have the IUI done -- unless they can do something to make ovulation come sooner (like before we go on vacation) LOL

Hi There! Thanks for checking in. This are going well. I have slight cramping on and off, more like an ache, but nothing over the weekend. My bb's have been tender, more so at night but that is a symptom I have had on and off for the last cycles as well. If I do test it will probably be on Wednesday. I have not decided if I will or not yet.
Your symptoms sound very promising. Hang in there. The wait is coming to a close. I will kepp you posted. You do the same.

Sorry it has been so long. My Husband has been very sick for the past couple of days.  I am very sorry to hear about your hubby.  I will pray for you.  Did your Dr. order a progesterone test for you?  I had one done a couple of days ago and I got the results back today.  I am really disappointed b/c the levels are at 7.9 and from what I understand they should be much higher than that.  I am still trying to have hope but it is getting tough.  We can only afford to do one more round of IUI and there is no way we can afford IVF, so I feel like I am running out of time.  I wish you the best of luck this month and hang in there for just a few more days.

Hi,
It was my decision to not have my Dr monitor me simply due to the costs. I'm single, not partner or Husband so I am taking on all these costs on my own. He advived me to try monitoring myself with an at home ovulation kit. I think I will bite down and go the extra cost and have tehm monitory me next month if I receive a BFN this month. My Dr is VERY expensive, the IUI itself is $325 and the ultrasound and bloodwork are $250 each..basically we are talking $1000 each month ugh! In teh end..I'm sure it will all me worth it wheni get that beautiful BFP sign ;)

Hi,
Glad to hear from you. Looks like we are on the same track with symptoms! If you decide to test early on wednesday, PLEASE let me (and the rest of us) know what happens..I think I might do the same..don't think I can hold out till the weekend!
Fingers crossed!

No, my doc didn't order a progesterone test for me. Just Thursday morning testing of hgc level. I hear you on the IVF deal, I don't see how we would be able to afford that either, especially w/ hubby's condition now...ya never know what it holds in check for you. I hope you will have a BFP despite the progesterone level. Do you have any symptoms of Af so far? I have a hard time reading any of the symptoms I have. It could point towards both ways...
Thank you for the prayers, we can need them right now - then again who doesn't on this site. Thinking of you and hope your hubby is feeling better!

I really haven't had any symptoms.  There have been so many months that I have thought for sure I would have a BFP and it was a BFN.  So I have pretty much decided that I have no idea what my body is doing from one minute to the next. Maybe it is a good sign that I am not really having any symptoms yet. How many times will your insurance pay for IUI?

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to give an update.  Had my first un-medicated IUI on May 18th.  My doctor said to call today (6/2) if I didn't get AF.  Well, I woke up this morning and still no AF.  I was officially 1 day late.  Today is day 33 of my cycle and I have never had a cycle longer than 32 days (which has only happened several times).  I was so excited I called the doctor first thing this morning.  I scheduled a blood test for 7:00 tomorrow morning before I head off to work.  Well........about an hour after I called to make the appointment I went to the bathroom and had some rusty colored discharge.  I was sooooo disappointed.  That was at 10:30 this morning.  It is now 6:30 in the evening and all I have is still some rusty colored discharge.  No really AF .......but definitely something.  I don't even have the usual horrible AF cramps (my acupuncturist just says I don't have cramps because the acupunture is starting to work).  I don't know what to think......Maybe I'll just assume it's AF and not get my hopes up.  I guess I'll know for sure tomorrow after the blood test.  Guess it's on to round #2 of IUI.  Good luck to everyone who is about to test......my prayers are with all of you for some amazing news!!

My insurance pays three times for IUI. So, we have one more try...I guess we made it thourgh another day alright. Tomorrow is 12 dpiui and I am getting so anxious. Of course I am wondering what this anxiety thing can change in my body, like delaying AF right until the test?! Okay, I have to remain positive. Keep you in my thoughts - let's hope for the best!

alihoff- Good luck tomorrow!

You're not alone, actually right behind me.  I am on month 20 of TTC and I will have my second IUI on June 10 and 12th.  I have my first acupuncture appointment this Friday, so I am excited about that!  I am trying to focus my energy else where, so I don't obsess.  My husband and I are actually ready to trade our condo in for a single family home, so that has been keeping me pretty busy this week.  We found one we love, but a little out of our price range...busy getting our ducks in order, so we can go on the waiting list.  Yes, you have to be on a waiting list to get a house in Hawaii, LOL

We are actually in the process of moving too, how funny!  I watch a lot of HGTV, so I've seen that the Hawaiian market is quite competitive, good luck!  I will be calling today to get the acupuncture set up, so that will be something to look forward to.  I actually have been having this weird pain since last night.  It's like ovulation pain, very concentrate in one spot and quite uncomfortable.  Has anyone experienced this?  Also, af started yesterday, but it's so light!  I've had pretty normal afs while on Clomid.  This month I did the progesterone suppositories, which I heard made af heavier, so I'm totally unsure of what my body is doing.  Has anyone else had this happen either?  The excitement never ends...

I am 12dp IUI. I woke up this morning having cramps like AF is coming.  I am O.K. with it though.  I just kind of had a feeling that this was not going to be my month.  At least I still have one more shot at it though.  To everyone who is getting ready to test I wish you the best of luck and hope BFP for everyone!  Keep hope ladies, God has a plan for all of us.

I had crampy feel today too, and yes it feels like AF...Who knows, though no sight of AF yet. But we will see. KBHope24, I am glad you have another shot like me, in case it didn't work out this month. But let's keep fingers crossed until AF really hits us.
Anyone else getting close to testing?

by mary986, Jun 03, 2008 12:56PM
KBHope24.. Dont give up hope yet. Maybe AF won't come. My fingers are crossed for u!

lindaintoronto...Sorry to hear about the BFN. Good luck with your cycle in June.

Well I had some bad new today too. After hearing the BFN on Saturday and then getting AF, today I went for my CD3 blood work and ultrasound to begin my next cycle. The dr. just called me to tell me that I can't do this cycle because I have Fluid Cysts from the meds from the last cycle. They have to put me on Birth Control Pills for them to be removed!!! I can't believe after hearing the BFN, getting AF, now I can't even try again until these cysts go away.
Did anyone ever hear of getting cysts after a IUI cycle?

by bibi22, Jun 03, 2008 01:16PM
To: mary986
Yes, I did after the first IUI as well as after chlomid cycles. I have a tendency to have complex and/or fluid cysts anyway. I had cysts as early as 16. Almost every month the doc has to see if I developed folicles or cysts...
I hope you do not have the pain associated with them. Keep a heating pad close by in case you do get this hideous pain. Interesting though, that your doc wants to put you on birth control pills. Is that to balance your hormones out?

Hi Linda,
I'm so sorry for that disappointing news!! I'm curious about wether it was too soon to test? You and I are on the same cycle, 11dpiui correct? Isn't 11 days too early for your Dr to test??? Perhaps test at 14dpiui is better?
You could still get the BFP!!!

To: bibi22
I think the BCP will help the cysts go away. I actually made an appt tonight to meet with him because I would like to discuss everything before going onto another IUI cycle in July. I want to make sure its best for me because we are paying for all of this on our own and I don't want to wait for another cycle, go through with it again and to hear them say BFN.

by KBHope24, Jun 03, 2008 01:52PM

I do know that you can get cysts after an IUI cycle.  The Dr.thought that I might have had a cyst.  They said that because of the medication overstimulating the ovaries that after the egg is released from the follicle instead of the follicle being absorbed into the ovary that it fills with fluid.  I am really sorry to hear about it I know that it is frustrating to be postponed but on the brighter side of things it may do your body some good to take a break for a month (or at least that is what the Dr. told me).  Try not to stress to much and hang in there.  Good Luck!

Sorry about your BFN!!  I hope next month is the month!!  KBHope24, Good luck!!!

EVERYONE: Tell me more about this cyst pain.  This has me worried b/c the last two days i've had pain on my left side, similar to ovulation pain.  It isn't always constant, it come and goes and gets better or worse.  If my DR isn't doing sonos early in the cycle, how do they know if I have a cyst?  If I do have one and they dont' know, what could happen?  Aaargh, it's always something!

by mary986, Jun 03, 2008 02:53PM
To: eclarky
I have them and I have been lucky not to have any pain. I think (I could be wrong) but I think they are a reaction to the medicine... So if you had an unmedicated IUI you should be fine.
I will find out more tonight when I meet with the dr.

Thank you so much for your kind words.  It really means alot to me. It is very comforting having a support group.  I hope you get your good news soon.

To: Lolagirl,
Thank you as well for your kind words.  I asked my doctor about my concerns about testing too early but he says that day 11/12 (because I did 2 inseminations) is late enough in my cycle with a blood test.  I am not going to invest in any hope for this month.  I am due to get my period on Friday.  We just have to hold up our heads and go through this again mid-month.  I was ok all day because I was at work and my students kept me busy all day.  When I got home (hubby at work), I broke down.
Best of luck with your test.  It will work out for all of us...in time.

Linda

Hey, don't worry too much. Clomid may cause cysts but only if it overstimulates your ovaries and much more likely when taking more meds following the clomid. Means, if there is an overload of hormones (sorta a cocktail), cysts may develop. The thing is they develop sort of like folicles, that is also why docs have to sometimes give a trigger shot to see what it is, folicles or cysts. However did you have problems w/ cysts before? According to my doc, if you never had issues you are less likely to develop them.
The pain of having cysts (if any) feels like ovulation in the beginning. In my case they most of the time do not just drain naturally but actually keep on growing to crazy sizes. At this point the pain will be like it is tearing you apart, I also will have trouble walking up straight. So really, unless you have crazy pain I would not worry.
After all ovulation pain can be quite uncomfortable.
On another note, cysts rarely need surgical attention. That is only if they are real big and won't drain on their own. Oh and of course if the woman suffers extremly bad.
Sorry if this sounds graphic but I have been there so many times that it is almost normalcy for me. Hope I could help you out a bit.

I am 15 dpiui today and still no AF!  I tested at 13dpiui and it was BFN.  I had some cramps this morning so I thought for sure when I got up to go to the bathroom that she would have been in full effect -- but so far NOTHING!  I don't wanna get my hopes up though because of the BFN on Sunday.  I do wanna test again SO BAD -- So I may test again tomorrow morning or call the RE and see if they want me to come in for bloodwork.

Mary986 -- Sorry to hear about the cysts and that you need to go on BCP for a month to clear them up -- hopefully that will be it for you and as soon as you get the "all clear" to start again -- that will be your month.

To all that got BFN -- sorry to hear it - stay strong and think positive and look forward to the months ahead.

Just a quick update....Went to the RE this morning for bloodwork after first unmedicated IUI cycle and got a BFN.  I already knew it was coming since I starting bleeding last night and this morning.  RE wants me to try 2 more unmedicated cycles and then possibly 3 medicated cycles after that (I have to speak with him tomorrow).  Have my next acupuncture appointment on Thursday.  It will be my 6th or 7th treatment.  Keeping my fingers crossed for IUI #2 in a couple of weeks.  To everyone who got a BFN within the last few days........let's stay positive and have hopeful thoughts for June!!  To everyone who is about to test.......Baby Dust to all of you!!!!  We need more BFP's around here!

Thank you SO much for that info.  i'll keep and eye on it, it was awful pain last night, but it hasn't come back so very possibly it was just weird af cramps, so we'll see.  I haven't had cyst problems before so hopefully it's nothing.

Kramik107-GOOD LUCK!!!  Test in the AM and if still BFN, call the DR....that's just my 2 cents:) :)

To all:
My next sono is 6/16 and I'll probably have the IUI on the 17th.  I've scheduled an acupuncture consult and first appt for this Friday, so I'm excited to see how that goes.  My doctor has actually decided to do Clomid and IUI for at least one more month, so no injectables, which is a relief for me now.  Hopefully the Clomid and acupuncture will do the trick!

I am w/ lolagirl212 and Kramik107, I tested (last evening b/c hubby was actually the one being very unpatient) and of course it was a BFN. AF however has not shown up yet and I am 13 dpiui today. Now I wonder if this is b/c of testing in the evening or if preggo doesn't show in test yet...Still I am bummed, too. I really hoped this was it. The last 5 yrs. have been testing my patience quite a bit. We'll see what happens today, AF or not and if not then blood test tomorrow....so nervous.

by mary986, Jun 04, 2008 07:43AM
Good morning all.. I just wanted to give you an update on my appt yesterday.
bibi22, you pretty much explained all about the cysts (thank you)... He basically told me that some woman develop these cysts after a medicated cycle. He said that some woman cannot do back to back cycles because of the cysts. The BCP will help the cysts go away within the month.
He told me that I should definitely be fine after taking the BCP for a month to start a new cycle in July. He explained to me that during my 1st IUI procedure that my LH level was too high (unfortunately something he cannot predict ahead of time). So there is another type of medication he is going to give me when I try the 2nd IUI to prevent this. (yay another injection.. lol). He did say that based on the findings of the 1st IUI, he felt very confident going into my 2nd IUI. So I felt pretty good last night. I really don't want to take a month off but I learned to deal with it. Actually enjoyed myself last night and had a couple glasses of wine :)... So I am going to enjoy my June month of summer with no stress and go right back into in July.
Thank you all for your support. Good luck to all of you testing this week! Baby dust to u all.
All the BFN, stay strong... Your time will come.

I just got back from the clinic.  I picked up my meds for my next cycle.  I just haven't decided if my second IUI cycle will be June or July.  I am a teacher and June is VERY busy and stressful.  I think my body will be more at rest in July when I am off work.  It will also help with the early morning blood and ultrasounds.  I am running out of excuses for co-workers.  One can have only so many dentist/doctor/chiropracter etc. appointments!!!  I still haven't got my period so I still have a few days to decide.

lindaintoronto - I would say you should let your body relax for a month and have your next cycle in July. If you are going to be nervous about when you have to get to the dr's office and make excuses for work, then you are going to stress yourself out. I think you should begin your next cycle in July but you have to go with your gut feeling. I know how hard it can be to keep yourself waiting even longer. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi there, Acupuncture gets your body flowing.  I have PCOS and almost never had a cylce.  With the help of my Naturopath and acupuncture I got to a point where I was on about a 40 day cycle!  It's also go to help relax your body.  If you can have it done at night and go home and have a bath in salts and just take it easy in gneral I think it has the best effects.

I had it done after my first day of this IUI to help with the stimulation and relaxation.

For the most part it doesn't hurt, but there are some sensitive spots where it pricks for a second, but compared to everything else us women go through it's nothing:)

Hope all goes well, let me know how it goes.

Good luck to all who are testing!

Good Day Everyone!  I'm so happy to discover this site. Now, I have a group to share my tww. I just had my 2nd IUI last May 26 and I'm on the 10th day of wating.  With my first IUI had a terrible back pain right after the procedure. And so I told my doctor about this and for that on the second IUI he gave me cyclogest 400mg(progesterone) and now i don't feel any back pain. Infact, I don't feel anything.  Is this good or bad? Can anyone enlighten on what going on. thanks

I think I am going to miss out this cycle...and I think maybe I have to find a new RE.  I informed my RE that I have short cycles and he still scheuled my U/S for day 12 of my cycle w/ my IUI's on day 13 and 15.  Well,  I am only 8 days into my cycle and I think I am ovulating already whcih makes sense since some months my cycles are as short as 21 days, so by day 7 or 8 I would O. I am all broken out, have slight pain on my right side, egg white CM, and a major headache...all the signs of Oing!!!  I am bummed, so I guess when I go for my U/S my RE is not going to see any follies since they will be done already.  Last cycle my RE gave me Clomid, I guess to lengthen my cycle?  We all know how that disaster turned out with my AF 11 days late.  This month is unmedicated...Why wouldn't he schedule my U/S and procedure earlier in my cycle?  Isn't he suppose to be a specialist, why would he treat me the same as a perfect 28 day cycle?  Ah, thanks for letting me vent.  My husband is pretty upset as well cause it's another wasted month.

I wish all of you a very good luck

You should be upset, that is not right!!  I'm still seeing my regular OB for my IUI's, and I've been thinking for awhile that this process would be more effective with a specialist, but maybe not!  I've heard of people going through 3 or more REs until they found someone who they clicked with.  Good luck in that decision, I don't envy you there.  Baby Dust!

Well, we can add another BFN to the list. AF came this morning 3 days early! I'm so disappointed. Ugh, this is going to be a hard next few days. My Birthday is on Saturday, I'll be 42 (ouch!) This process is rough as we all know, but Birthday's don't make it any easier..being single in this process is also a tough one...I'm hoping I'l be able to use today as my sad day, then pick myself up of the floor and carry on, blow out a few candles and think about next month's IUI.so hard right?

I am 14 dp iui today and I was supposed to go have a blood test this morning but I just could not bring myself to do it.  I am so scared of the dreaded BFN it is all I can think about.  I still have no AF so I think I am just going to wait a little bit longer.  Does anyone have any advice?

So today should be the day of testing. My 2ww are officially over...but oh guess what I have not even received a call back from the clinic yet!!! I just love when everything and everyone is working with you! So all in all I don't even know when they want to see me today to get some blood drawn. Great! Good news is no AF yet, even the feeling is gone. I do have some CM, the type that reminds me of ovulation though, really confusing to me, that is indeed a first one this late in my cycle. Has anyone made this experience before?
Thanks for putting up w/ my venting spree.

michelleinhawaii- I know the short cycle deal and feel your frustration. It takes some talking before they listen sometimes. In the end no one knows your body as well as you do. Some pros seem to forget that.

lolagirl212- Sorry to hear about your BFN. Enjoy your birthday, it is an important day b/c it means life. I hope you have great friends/family you can share your disappointment with and who support you. Go have your "pity party" today it will feel good, then celebrate life and hope on Saturday. I am pulling for you next month!

Hey girl! Could your hubby not go w/ you for calming purposes? Have you taken a home pregnancy test yet? Maybe that could give you confirmation of some kind, help you decide about getting the blood test done today or not. Sort of a preparation for what you have to expect from the blood test. Then again if you have the stemina to wait a bit longer and it feels best to you, do it. My hat's of to you, cause I am going crazy. I never made it this far in 5 yrs. without spotting or AF starting early in a medicated cycle.
At least you have no AF yet - that's good! I will keep you updated on my process and maybe it spikes sth. in you...big cyber bear hug to you!

Unfortunately I am on my own today b/c my hubby is out of town.  We are supposed to go and spend the weekend at the beach so I am hoping that will take my mind off of it for the weekend and then I can stress about it on Monday.  Hopefully that will make the time go by a little bit easier.  I am having the same problem with my RE office.  They still have not called me back about my progesterone results.  They can sometimes be the most frustrating part.  I am glad to see you still in good spirits.  Keep me posted through the day and I will try to do the same. 2WW Buddy!!!

Good day to everyone!  Well AF did show up yesterday and of course my re made me come in for blood work yesterday as I was 16dpiui and no AF -- go for the bloodwork and then a couple hours later AF comes.    I was gonna take this month off as we are on vacation June 20th.  Spoke to my re this morning and I am gonna start the follistim injections with the IUI.  She said that I would be in there way before June 20th so that made me feel better.  I so didn't wanna take a month off I wanna be pregnant for crying out loud -- LOL

So I have an appointment there today and hopefully will start my inj tomorrow -- I so hope this is my month.

Hi,
THANK you so much for that wonderful note. I will indeed have a bit of a pitty party. This is hard, since my friends and family, although wonderful, really don't understand completely. It's comforting to know there are other women out there who "get it" I will have a fun Birthday weekend and will come out the other side with a positive outlook! Fingers crossed that next month is THE month ;) My thoughts and good wishes are with all of you ladies on here!

I had my first iui on May 28th.  Looks like we are on the 2ww together.  It is driving me crazy.  I really haven't had much symptoms either except for occasional lower back pain.  I am so nervous.  I went for bloodwork today to check my progesterone and I have an appt. for pregnancy test on 6/11.  Just keeping my fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your whole situation. Hopefully you will find a new RE that will be better and get you a fresh new start and end with a BFP. Sucks you have to go thru with this. Sounds like you know more than him. Good luck.... Try au naturale this month... It could work!!!

To: matty1972
Hi,
Thanks for that! I agree it's better to have it happen before the Bday..I want to TRY and be happy on that day and move forward! Well, my plan now is to start being monitored by my Dr. This last IUI was my first, and I did my own at home monitoring. I honestly think I  didn't monitored my ovulation correctly and miscalculated (That's the "price" for trying to cut costs ;)). My Dr is quite expensive and my insurance pays for NONE of it, but I can't screw around with "thinking" it's the right time..hopefully next month I'll hit a homer ;)
How about you? Any decisions about this month?

Great attitude!!! I love it. I think a nice relaxed vacation with a positive attitude will definitely be positive this round for you. I can't wait to hear you got BFP!
I am not doing anything this month :(... just waiting. I had cysts on my ovaries from the medication from last month so I have to take BCP for a month before I can start up again. My RE said the cysts should definitely be gone for next cycle as long as I take the BCP. Who would have ever thought that I would have to take BCP for a month when trying to get pregnant!! So this month I can't even try au naturale because I am on BCP. Right now I am just getting through this month enjoying myself. Glass of wine with dinner, you know the stuff you can't do when you are trying. I really want to start up in July again but we have a mini vacation planned for the weekend of the 4th of July and my sister is getting married July 11th. I am in the wedding so I would not be able to go to the RE that day for anything either. I am just worried that b/w and u/s and the actual procedure will be scheduled around this time. I don't want to have to wait until August. Right now, June is taking forever for me to get through. lol

I had my 2nd treatment last night (I had originally gone for my lower back which is bad but now I'm going to have her help with my fertility..screw the back! ;)) I love it it is so calming and feels like it MUST be doing something..I hope you like it as well.
Be well and thanks again for the good wishes..I'm thinking of you too.

To: lolagirl,
Hi Lolagirl,
It's nice to have such a wonderful group of women, like yourself, that are so supportive. This process is probably the most challenging task I've had to take on.  DH is always very supportive but doesn't understand the depth of what we as women go through.

I am still trying to decide whether or not I will do IUI in June or wait until July, when I am not working and more relaxed.  I hate to miss a month and my husband wants to continue in June, but I will give myself the weekend to decide. I still don't have my period but I am sure it will be here tomorrow.  My cycle is 28 days like clockwork and tomorrow is day28.  If I do decide to go through IUI again in June, it will most likely be the 17th and 18th of June (that is if my period shows up tomorrow).  If I don't decide to go through with it, we'll try naturally for the month of June.
Have a wonderful birthday, have some drinks, and have fun!!

thats right -- I do remember you telling me that.  Well get drunk everyday since there is no chance you will be pregnant -- LOl

Next month will be your month then -- I just got back from RE office -- had an ultrasound done everything was fine with my ovaries so I start my follistim inj tomorrow and then on 6/10 I go back for bloodwork and ultrasound.

At least I have no AF so far. Do have some discomfort though, reminds me of  AF but then again it could be a good sign...who knows...just sit and wait I guess. I don't know what to think anymore. I can understand your hesitation in trying again in June. I think there is something to be said for wanting to be in a calm relaxed state..tehn again, if you try again in July and are not working, you will have a LOT of time to think about it so that too may add to the stress..it's nice to have distractions! I feel like my next try in June is going to feel a bit pressured since I cannot try in July (I'm away on business for 2 weeks) and my Dr's clinic is closed in August. If it doesn't work in June I cannot try again until September! Ugh nuthn' like a little pressure ;) Y'know, I'm like you, my period is 28 days like clockwork as well, and this month after my first IUI it came at 25 days! I'm wondering if that was due to the IUI? I'm glad you Husband is supportive, but yes, it's also so important to have found a sight like this where we just all understand.

I took another HPT this morning since I have no word from the clinic yet as well as no AF .... and BFN! I guess I am getting myself just prepared for the official BFN since my hopes for this cycle are very slim by now. Not getting AF feels like a teaser especially b/c I don't go that long in a cycle ever (! - 15 dpiui / 33 dc), that hormone cocktail is doing sth to me this time around.
Still have cm going to, I think I saw some light light pinkish in it today but who knows at 0630 am. To all who are testing today and Saturday, GOOD LUCK AND BABY DUST! Will tell all of you what the official word is today.

Thanks for your encouragement! Well, here is my deal then, I may be a BFP or a BFN...yes I just can't have it easy breezy going! My hcg was at 1.2...I am still not sure what that exactly means. But I know I am supposed to do a test every 48 hours now, what a drag, huh?! Worst part about it, we are supposed to leave for KY tomorrow, coming back Thursday. I am not sure if I even want to go now. What to do ladies, what to do?

well 1st of all... you should be happy that you didnt hear BFN.. You still have a very good chance.
I don't remember who it was on this forum but somebody had to keep going back for blood work because they weren't sure if they got a BFP or a BFN and after a few days, they ended up getting a BFP.
How long are you supposed to go away for?? I think you should go... Is your RE even available over the weekend? I think you should go to KY and just test why you are away and enjoy yourself. Good luck!!! Baby dust!

So yes, I am having loads of hope again and you are right it is NOT A BFN! Sorry for being so negative in my prior message.
I called the clinic back to understand better. And then hope came back to me for this month. Why because it is a POSITIVE - YEAH! Wished they would have explained that BFN/BFP deal better first time round. They just don't like the numbers (1.2 means 120) to me it's great and things will work out! I am so certain of it, don't know where it all came from. I keep you up to date and will be in touch after our KY trip. Love to all of you, good luck and THANK YOU FOR SUPPORT!

I am so glad I found your site.  You always feel like you are the only one going through something like this.  It's soooo hard to wait!!  I just had my 3rd IUI this morning - I am on clomid and have been ttc for 3 years.  During that time we had a miscarriage (on my 33rd birthday).  It is very frustrating each month as we play the waiting game. Every PMS symptom I end up having I swear is a pregnancy symtom, and of course it isn't.  My doctore said if this month does not work we will have to try something else besides the clomid/iui.  I don't know what that means.  Does anyone know?  I am starting my waiting game again, but I am not very hopeful.  When your doctor isn't even hopeful it is hard for you to be.

Thanks for the support!

Hi!
I'm glad you found this sight! It has also been very helpful for me. I had my first IUI last month and got a BFN and will be trying #2 in another week or so. I wanted to tell you to PLEASE try to always be hopeful! Your Doctor was just trying to let you know that if #3 doesn't work, there ARE other options (Injectables, alternate drugs or IVF) I don't see it as him/her not being hopeful. Think positively, and never hold out hope that it WILL happen! Stay strong ;)

I just had my first acupuncture treatment...I loved it, so relaxing.  She said my body was in pretty good shape, so she didn't feel it was necessary to give me any herbal supplements.  However, she did give me a "fertility diet" that she would like me to stick to as much as possible...NO SWEETS, NO WHEAT, NO CAFFINE, NO SUGARS, NO ALCOHOL...what else is left? LOL, suppose to eat organic when possible and a lot of fresh vegetables and proteins.  Maybe I'll lose those extra five pounds I've put on?!?  I will be doing the acupuncture 1x a week.

Hello ladies. I am fairly new to this site. I have been ttc baby #2 for 7 yrs. My husband and I were finally reffered to the Specialist or (RE) this month. We had our 1st IUI and I am now in the 2ww. I don't know what to think to tell you guys up front but I really have some major questions.. I had really really bad o pains during my IUI I believe I was o'ing right before the IUI process started then after it was done. I felt weird twinges all night long last night on both my right and left sides.. I was very tired about 3 hours after my IUI when I got home I did some normal things around the house and then I went to bed because I was exhausted and I couldn't stand the bloated gassy feeling I felt since the IUI. I was told that feeling would probably go away after the IUI. Well I can honestly says today is 1 day past IUI and I am 3x as bloated as I was yesterday and the pain has gone away but I am getting these twinges on my right and left side still. So I don't know what to think. Also, today when I woke up I was so tired.. I am really tired actually right now. I figured I would go for a walk and it would get better but nope. It didn't seem to get any better It made me feel even more tired. So it is now 4 pm here and I am literally ready for bed.. I don't know why I can be so tired.. Not to mention I woke up this morning with a sore throat I wonder if I am getting sick. Who knows.

Anyways tell me what you think.

Hi!
Glad you were able to find tis sight! I can only speak from my own experience, but I also had extreme bloating and gassy issue but mine started at around 5 or 6dpiui. I didn't have any pain during the procedure, in fact I barely felt anything. I did have light cramping for a few days afterward. Every woman is different so the aftermath of IUI is a different experience for all of us y'know? It sounds to me given your soar throat that it is just a bad coincidence  and the timing of your IUI happened at the sam time you were coming down with something. For your own piece of mind, I think you should call your Dr tomorrow and explain the pain and tiredness..I'm sure it will all lessen with each day!

Hello Ladies. So I wanted to let you know the pain subsided the next day after IUI. I am at 2 dpiui and I am feeling ok. I am having mild twinges here and again But other then that I feel ok. I am tired off and on throughout the day but nothing to worry about. The soar throat went away last night. So will see what the deal is.

Goodluck ladies.

Welcome to the site!  I also had some cramps and felt awful after my IUI, it lasted for just a couple of days.  I'm glad you're better now and I wish you peace in the 2ww!!

To All:  I've forgotten now if I've already told you - I'm sorry if I did!- that I had acupuncture on Friday and LOVED it!  Like michelleinhawaii, I felt relaxed and it didn't hurt at all.  My acupuncturist also told me to avoid spicy and fried foods.  I went out and bought a book about using traditional chinese medicine to treat infertility and I'm hooked. Like you, Michelle, if I only lose some weight, at least it's something!!

Just wanted to give you all an update.  AF appeared this weekend and to top it all off it looks like it might be the end of the road for me.  I spoke to my Dr this morning and he does not feel like my current treatment course with the IUI is going to be beneficial another round.  He scheduled me a consult to go over the rest of our options.  As far as I know the rest of the options are way out of our monetary league ie. IVF.  Does anyone know of other options besides medicated IUI with out jumping to IVF?  I am feeling very overwhelmed and down today.  Any Suggestions???

I'm so sorry to hear this news! Ugh, so diappointing, I'm sure you are feeling down. I don't want you to give up hope though! I have heard about something called the "minii IVF" I haven't had time to research it completely, but I keep seeing the term a lot while I'm online. Before I decided to go to the Fertility clinic I'm with now here in NYC, I was looking into another place where the Doctor there was one of the founders of the mini IVF. Take a look at their website where they explain it (It looks considerably less expensive!) Also, I'm including another link I found on the procedure! Apparently a lot of places are using it now.

Hi Jenny872. I am going thru the same problem right now too. I cannot try my 2nd IUI until July hopefully if everything cleared up. My RE referred them as fluid cysts. I think it is the same thing you are referring to. My RE gave me BCP to take for the month to clear them up and I have had a little bit of spotting but he told me that was normal. Are you taking anything now, BCP?? I would think that your AF should come on time because it isn't like you have a full flow right now.

Sorry to hear about your situation... But stay strong. Don't get upset yet until you see what your other options are... hopefully lolagirl212 found something that would work for you.

Thanx Mary alot ,The nurse told me that it is smaller than a cyst and there is no fluid in it and this is a left over folicle from previous cycle. They have not given me any medication ,she said its going to resolve on its own.I hope it resolves b/c failure of IUI in itself is so depressig and when ur hope of doing another cycle is also taken away from you then u dn't know what to do and how to handle the stress of being infertile .when evyone around u is having children within months of trying naturally.

Thanx once again i was feeling so low and lonley but ur words have given me encouragement.

I am glad I can help you. Be strong this month and enjoy yourself. Do the things you wouldn't do if you were ttc or if you were pregnant. Go out and have a few drinks this month and keep yourself busy so that it goes by quickly. That is what i am doing. It is very difficult to have to wait another month to start up again but if he said it is even smaller than a cyst, you should definitely be able to go thru with the IUI next month. Keep me posted.. Hopefully we can start up around the same time in July.

Hello -- I have been out of the loop all weekend --- I was so busy.  Hope everyone is doing well . Did anyone get a BFP that was supposed to test over the weekend?

I do my 4th follistim inj tonight tomorrow I go in for an u/s and bloodwork -- pending the results will let me know if I need more follistim or if IUI is a couple days away.

Hi Ladies!  I've been out of the loop for a while, I'm just trying to reclaim my life until my IVF treatment starts in July. I really think the trick is to stay busy and focused on other things.

I see that a few of you tried acupuncture, which I think is great.  I loved it and plan on going back.  I also see that we had BFP out there, congrats!  I still gives me hope when I see that-although it 's pretty scary that this will be our last attempt.  Good luck, I know that a few of you have iui's coming up!  :)

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well.  I'm going in for another IUI tomorrow, so I thought I'd post and say hi.  Anyone going to be in the 2WW with me?  I have to go to my brother's wedding on 6/21, I had hoped to be out of the 2WW by then, but it didn't work out that way.  So no drinkin' for me!! Ugh, I'll so need it at this thing too!  LOL!  Fifty "So, any news for us?!" questions.  :p   Well, at least I'm back in the hope period.  I had three follies this month, so we'll see....

Does anyone know if it is better to do the IUI in the morning or could it be any time of day?  I was also wondering if anyone else has been on clomid for a very long time.  I have been on it for two years and now I am freaking out that I was on it too long!  I am wondering if it is causing more problems than it is helping me now.  I am hoping that I can do my 3rd IUI this month.  I need to do it late in the afternoon because I will be working summer school.  If I take a day off in summer school, I don't get paid!  Let me know what you girls think.

Thanks for your continued love and support.  I truly get a lot of hope and encouragement from reading your posts.

Hello all, i had my first iui last month, went threw all the treatments, and am happy to say on the first try we are preganant. Granted i have a cics on my ovaries, but they said it will go away in time. But they will watch for any changes. Im truly blessed that it took on try. Not many have the blessing but i wish everyone the best and good luck... Marine Wife and now mother to be.

by Michelleinhawaii, Jun 10, 2008 02:37AM
Went for my ultrasound today and the dr. said he saw 2 eggs?  what does that mean?  Do I get 2 chances this month, maybe a chance of twins?  I find it ironic because last month he gave me clomid to "help" my egg and I only had 1 egg...this month was au naturale and I had 2? I guess what I thought was ovulation last week was my body producing 2 eggs instead of 1?  My face is just a mess full of pimples!

Liv4baby ~ I'll be doing my first IUI tomorrow, as well and a second one on the 12th...we'll be in the 2ww together. Hopefully this time will be better than my last disaster

Sagebrush ~ I don't think it makes a difference what time of day it is done...I'll be going for my IUI's at 1:30 and 12:30 in the afternoon time.

by mary986, Jun 10, 2008 08:46AM
Laura23 - be strong and positive that this IVF will work for you!

sagebrush - are you having a medicated IUI? If so, they can probably let you take the HCG trigger shot at a certain time so you can have your IUI done in the afternoon. Are you doing 2 IUI's or just 1 day?

Michelleinhawaii - Good luck with your IUI's. That is pretty funny that you had 2 eggs this time w/o medication and only one with medication. I would think that you would have better chances with 2 eggs and there will be more of a chance of you having twins but the 2 will not always take. Good luck and keep us posted. Be strong during your 2ww!

by sagebrush, Jun 11, 2008 01:39AM
Mary986-  I am on clomid.  The dr hasn't given me the HCG trigger shot before.  He only does 1 IUI a month.  This is my last try with my gyn. then I will be going to a fertility clinic.

michelleinhawaii- Thanks for the advice.  I think I am going to try acupuncture too this summer after all of the talk about how wonderful it is.  I am willing to do whatever it takes to make my dreams come true.

Hey ladies,

I was just passing thru!  I had my IUI on Monday and now on the 2ww.  Although this is my second IUI with follistim this second time around feels different.  I've been very tired since the procedure.  Not much of an apetite but I think only because I'm gassy and bloated (not to mention it soo hot here).  I've been getting alot of twinges on my right side.  DH count was 32million and I had three follies on my right 18-23 in size and on my left 2 (but no tube),  I am hoping with the high results of DH sample (which my Dr was very pleased and worried of multiples) puts me in a high chance.  This 2ww will drive me crazy.  Even if later I do get a BFP that just means that I can put 1 out of 3 of my worries to rest.  The other 2 would be that it's not an ectopic, 3rd would be that it's viable.  Just when I thought the 2ww was all I had to be concerned about...right!

I will you all much love and success and I will be keeping a watchful I on this forum to keep up with everyones progress.....GOOD LUCK and fingers cross!

Yesterday I came home to the news of a BFN!!  I think I underestimated how hard it would be, this was my first IUI.  I am finding it difficult to get to the acceptance stage of this, but I hope I get to go right into the next try.  I ended up getting a cyst so I am not sure if they will make me wait.   I think the best thing to do right now is just keep looking forward.

Better luck to any who are testing, fingers crossed!!

So sorry to hear you got a BFN. I had my 1st IUI in May and got BFN and when I went to start up the next cycle, they told me I have to wait a month because I had cysts from the medication. It's so hard to hear BFN and then to hear the word "Wait" again because of cysts. Hang in there and be strong. When do you find out if you can try again right away or if you have to wait until the cyst goes away?

Sorry to hear BFN  and that u r finding it hard to accept,dn't worry its normal to feel like this.I am in same boat as you and mary986.Failed first IUI and then cancelled next cycle due to cyst.
But if many ladies r getting cysts it means its common to have it after treatment and that we will come out of it soon and ready for next cycle and hopefully next cycle will bring good news for all of us.
Take care of ur self.

by Michelleinhawaii, Jun 11, 2008 03:48PM
Monalisasmile ~ sorry about your BFN.  It took me about a day or so of hard crying before I accepted my first IUI had failed... I think it was especially hard since it was something new and I was so hopeful.

PhenomenalWoman ~ I had my second IUI yesterday and will go for another tomorrow...I'm in the 2ww with you.   I'm not setting my self up like I did with the first one that's for sure, I broke my own heart with my high hopes.  This time I am not as hopeful and hopefully I won't get too upset if the end result is another failure.

Liv4baby ~ how did your IUI go?

All~ My IUI went much better this time it took the dr. about 30 seconds, last time it was several minutes and he had to use several different sized catheters since the opening to my cervix was very very small.  he said the opening was bigger this time and maybe the timing was better.  The HCG trigger shot also has not left me unable to walk as it did last time...I guess the nurse shot it in the wrong place last time cause I literally had to drag my leg around for almost 2 whole days.  I also don't have any cramping and very little spotting, just a little bloated feeling.  I feel happier and calmer :-)

Thanks for asking -- it went better, like yours!  Maybe this is a better month for IUI's!  Much quicker and less painful, but still not exactly fun.  I too, have lost hope!  I am NOT testing until 14dpiui.  No matter what!!  :)   I am not going to look at every tiny feeling I have as anything more than it is!  :)  We have to be strong this time or we're going to be depressed again!  I can't handle this every time.  The dr told me that we'll do this at least once more, maybe twice - but then we have to have another "consultation" -- whatever that means.  I'm glad they're doing two IUI's for you -- that should help, right??  I only got one - what a gyp!  LOL!

Hope everyone is feeling well!  :)

I don't think the second one is going to make a difference since it will be 48 hours after the first one (office closed today for a state holiday)...I think that is too late.  Does your dr. give you a trigger shot?  If they do is it given to you before or after your IUI?

Yes, I'm definately not testing until 14dpiui either and since this one is au naturale, then my AF will definately come before the 2ww will be up...yeah, no more testing for me!!  I was so excited only to be let down last time, I can't handle that again.

To: To all future moms!
Hello ladies, this is my first time posting. I've been reading all posts for more than a week now and I've seen all the possible scenarios.  I'm currently on my 2ww of long waiting after my first IUI on Monday June 2nd. I had a back to back injection the next day as well.  In my case my hubby has low sperm count 5 million, motility is good and morphology is good.  As per my RE I'm ok, I ovulate and have a regular cycle of 28 days.  The day before my first injection I had 3 matured follicules and a forth was coming down.  My P4 is >40 which I think is good. My RE didn't say if is good or bad just left me a message.  I had to rearch on my own... I'm been holding myself not to test at home. I'm afraid of a false negative or a false positve. All of you are so wonderful and its great to get support form someone who is on your shoes.  I wish everyone gets a BFP!!! Is a long journey but promissing..Keep you head up and hopes up to the sky.  You all be blessed!! Baby dust to all future moms!!!....

Rainbow222- Welcome!  :)   Don't test at home -- it's not worth it!  We're always let down anyway (false neg or pos, or just false hope!) so you might as well just wait!!

Michelle - I don't get a trigger shot at all, which concerns me.  I don't know why they do things differently at my dr's office, but I trust them.  I don't know why I do, I just do!  LOL!  It's not like they've gotten me pregnant yet, but they seem very professional over there.  I guess I can switch later if I have to.  How are you feeling today?  I feel like I have cramps, which *****.  :p   I think this time I'm more convinced it DIDN'T work than I think it will.  I think I've lost some hope since last time.  How are you feeling?  I don't get why they're doing the second one 48 hrs later for you -- I didn't think eggs lived that long?  But what do I know.  :)

Liv4Baby, thanks for your welcoming note and advice...I will try the hardest not to test. My hubby wants me to wait as well. My blood test is scheduled to be next Monday. I have no symptoms, Nothing, NADA...
Michelle - Its hard to believe that your clinic will close in a holiday. The place where I go opens for at least 2 hours on Sunday and holidays...I hope its works for you. At the end we have to trust the hands we are on.   I wish you the best. Keep us informed.

Hi Ladies,
Im supposed to go in for my sonogram and blood work to begin my monitoring for 2nd IUI..I have been down for the count in bed 2 days with strepp throat and wondering if anyone thinks it's a bad idea to go in while I'm still sick and running slight fever? I still want to go and refuse to miss this month's cycle because of being sick..any thoughts?

by mary986, Jun 12, 2008 12:53PM
To: lolagirl212
jeez, talk about bad timing. I am not sure... Your immune system may affect your cycle because they always say to be in good health but you wouldnt be having the procedure for a few days right? Why don't you call your RE and explain you do not want to miss a cycle but you also don't want to have less of a chance of it working and see what they suggest??
Feel Better and Good Luck
