how many follicles needed for a cancelled IUI cycle?

I'm just wondering if anyone's had a cancelled IUI cycle or had to convert their IUI to IVF due to too many follicles, (too great a risk for high multiples) and if so what the "cut off" number + size was for you... I know every dr./clinic is different too, I'm just trying to figure out my own comfort zone number...

I had 6 mature follies, and had to cancel the IUI that cycle.  (This was my first month on injectibles and I over-responded.)

So the next month, I flat out said I wanted to aim for 3-4 mature follicles so we lowered my follistim dose slightly. It worked, I had 3-4 good ones, and  BAM ~ got pregnant on that IUI.

we have done IUI with 6 follies.. but my situation is a little different, if we are lucky only 1 in 3 follicles actually rupture an egg(LUFS), the rest stay cysts for a week or so longer (this past cycle for a month longer :(   )   we have never gotten preg with anything less than 3 follies since sometimes none of them rupture.. but normally my dr is nervous about moving foward with IUI with 4 or more i think.. GOOD LUCK!

My RE is conservative.  He will reluctantly do three but really stresses the risks involved with it.  Anything more than 3 and he will cancel.

what is your thoughts on having intercourse with 6 folicles when your IUI is cancelled???
