metformin

So, my test results came back today.  I am insulin resistant.  So, I started on metformin today, 500 mg.  Next week I start 1000 mg.  She said I will have to take this for 3 months before I can take the clomid again.  She said the metformin alone won't make me ovulate.  However, I've known 2 people who have gotten pregnant just with the metformin.  So, here's my question...is that possible?  Or am I doomed to wait the 3 months out and then take the clomid again?

Hi love. The Metformin alone doesn't help, but is supposed to help you ovulate when taken with the clomit. For me didn't do nothing not metformin not even clomit. Just follow your doctor's advise and everything will be ok.I know that you cannot wait to get pregnant but it takes some time. Good luck

hey i started taking met. in nov.06 when i was dx with PCOS i took it for 6 months it dint help me ovulate but it regulate my period which was a big step for me, after i was put on clomid for 4 months, and after 4 rounds and one failed IUI i moved into injections, clomid works great in some women but in other it dosent so your just going to have to try it at least, they say the max you can stay on it is 6 months, but after 4 months and not ovulating i chose to move on, im now 5w6d preg. and doing just fine! good luck to you.

Hi im the same as you. im on metformin 1000mgs daily for insulin resistance and pcos. I do not ovulate regularily (if at all) but i did on my 1st month on met. my periods are now semi regular also. I didnt ovulate this month though according to my test. I dont think the Met definately does help you to ovulate but it can. It is always possible to fall pg too but alot harder.
I am seeing my ob in 2 weeks after my 3month wait to find out whats my next step. I think as much as it sucks you are probably doomed to wait the time. are they doing day 21 prog tests in between? they are with me.
I wnder if these doctors know the torment and daily battle we go thru. all the best to you -

Thanks!  I just hate having to wait 3 months to take the clomid again.
