ovulation

by Lisanyah, Jul 30, 2007 04:12PM
I took an ovulation test today since it is the 14th day from the start of my period.  The test showed the test line lighter than the control line.  Does anyone know what this means, does it mean that I should ovulate soon?  We are hoping to conceive soon...

If you have a normal 28 day cycle then you should begin using OPK's on the CD11.  You will get your positive OPK about 24-36 hours before you "O". So if you just started using it today on CD14, chances are you may have missed it. Just continue testing for a few more days to see what happens. The OPK's are used to detect your LH Surge which tells you when you are fertile and about to ovulate.  Inside most OPK's there is an information guide that explains when to start testing and it gives you a run down about the test. It is very helpful, you might want to check it out.  Good luck!!!

with an ovulation test the test line has to be darker or as dark as the control line in order to be a positive. you may have already ovulated or are about to keep testing and if you dont see one in a few days then i bet you already Oed.

Oh also how many days is your cycle.if its normally more then 28 days then you will O after 14 days.

I agree with mommluv02.  You should know how many days is your normal cycle.  In my case, I have been irregular and had to take Clomid to induce my ovulation.  My ovulation test today also showed a faint line, but this line was darker than my previous tests.  I started testing as soon as my period was over.  I have also been checking my other fertility signs like temperature, cervical mucus and cervical position.  I have never had a positive ovulation test before.  Just like last month, I did ovulate on CD21, but none of my tests came out positive.  The line I saw this morning coincides with my egg-white cervical mucus and soft and high cervix.  So, even if it is not that dark, I would consider it positive just so we will not miss the egg.  Good luck!
