positive and negative pregnancy result

I did a home pregnancy test 3 days before my period was due and this was positive, i went to the doctors later that same day and they did a test but it was negative my period is now 2 days over due. do you think i could be pregnant?

There are a couple of things that this could mean. First is you may have used a more sensitive hpt than their office uses. First Response can detect quite low. Most drs offices use tests that test 50-100 mIU.

Another possiblilty is the hpt may have been an evap line or false pos?

If af hasn't arrived in a day or two, try a digital test. If it says pregnant, I would call dr for a blood test, not urine :)

You got to do the blood test to rule out pregnancy. During my first IVF cycle I took 2 home pregnancy tests and one was positive and the other was negative. I took a blood test and it was negative. The doctors told me that the reason why my test was positive was due to the hormonal unbalance.

Also if you went later that same day it could be the amount of lfuids that you had drank before the test and your urine could have been diluted.. i would do another HPT digital as the other post recommended and then i would req blood test from Dr still to rule out.. if you are late and you already have gotten a positive more than likely you are..

take another hpt to find out and maybe request a blood test from your doctor.  Good luck to you!

I've had two of those.   It's called a chemical pregnancy.   A fertilized egg implants produces HCG hormone, then fails to develop.     Mine was confirmed with blood test too...My HCG was 6 and 2nd was 12.
