I'm so sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy. I'm not really sure how long it is advised to wait after the surgery, but in a normal miscarriage, they usually suggest waiting until you've had three normal periods before trying again.

Best of luck to you!

thank you, that is a long wait! i have to wait 4 more weeks until i can even get my left tube checked, to see if its open or closed.

When we had our ectopic, RE said we could start ttc again after i had a period, which was about 6 weeks.  We conceived 5 months later and have a healthy 3 mo old baby girl.  Just keep in mind it may take a little longer because you will have to ovulate from your left side.  Best of luck to you!

did you have to have surgery for your ectopic?

by mim181, Jun 08, 2009 09:16AM
Yes, we knew the pg was ectopic and I was given the methatrexate to disolve the pg, but I ended up rupturing later that day.  They did lap. surgery and did not completley remove my tube but took out a "chunk" so the tube is no longer functional.  I know you are going through a trying time, but hang in there.  We had ttc for four years before having out baby girl and we were devestated with the ectopic, but it did reasure us that we could conceive.  Good luck to you.

thanks. but im still so worried im not going to be able to concieve. this was my second surgery for ectopic, i had the same surgery 8 years ago, but they didnt remove the tube, this time they had to, and it was on the same side, so maybe thats why it happened again, because i had scar tissue from the previous ectopic.

Hi there, i just thought i would share my story with you, i recently lost my baby 3 days before xmas, hence my user name.  I new i was prrgnant but showed no signs of extopic, until the day i was rushed into hospital aftr collapsing, my tube had ruptured, which i had to have removed.  I lost 45% of my bodies bloody resulting in tranfusions.  This was my first pregnancy and i have no understanding why this happend as both tube were in fine working order, no scaring and no real explanation.  I was in hospital for a while and off work for over a month a half, i had to go back each week for blood to be taken as my level were not going down as they should do.  i have now been told that i have 5% chance of concieving which has devestated me, but i try to keep positive the best i can which isnt easy as i would be due in 8 weeks time and at he moment i am on count down!! week by week!!! i have since spoke to many ppl and friends who have experienced this who have gone on to healthy pregnancy, so i am praying that this will be the case for me too!!! im sure that you will go on to be fine, it is rare that someone has tow ectopics so i have been told.  i hope me sharing this helps a little with things.
good luck

i am really sorry for what you have to go through. it is really hard. but you said its rare to have 2 ectopics, this was my swcond ectopic and they both resulted in surgery. so my dr is pushing me towards ivf, and i really dont have the money for that. i was really hoping i could do it naturally.
i will keep my fingers crossed for the both of us.
