I'm a happily married mom of 3 great kids.  Had my tubes tied 3yrs ago and now my SO & I are wanting another.  I had my tubes untied back in Sept(this yr)and are now trying.  Is there anyone out there in the same situation?  Just want someone to talk to.

My mom had hers reversed 6 years ago. I now have a 4 years old brother and a 3 month old brother. It took her 8 months to conceive. Good Luck!

i had my tubes reversed in july '05 and come to find out, my new husband has a morphology problem so we are now doing ivf with icis. hope it goes good for you. dont get cut open without getting your husband tested first.

I already had it done in Sept.  The doc said 2 wait 6wk then we could try.  4days after 6wk was up I was 2 ovulate.  We did end up getting pregnant right away.  I ended up losing it at about 5wk along.  I know that there isn't a problem with him.  I was just so shocked to miscarry.  I knew that I could have had a tubal pregnancy but I never thought that I would miscarry.  That was the last thing I thought would happen.

may I ask who did your reversal. I am 24 and I had mine done 2 1/2 years ago after my last child. We have 3 and I would like another 1 or 2 and so does my husband. I think, why did I do this. I was just doing research to see who is out there. I need to find out if my insurance is going to cover it. If not, then we will have to find another way. I think that this is great. My mother in law had it done 21 years ago and it was successful. I just do not want anyone in our family to know about it and I hope that they do not find out. I think that they would be judgemental. Is this something that you went through in your family, Just curious

I'm 35 and had a tubal reversal March 07 and I got pregnant right away, Lost it in May due to a ruptured cyst but I am able to get pregnant. Where are you from?

I am 36 and also had my tubes tied about 3 yrs ago but b/c of the way it was done the doctor said the odds of success would not be good and recommended IVF.  We just did our first round and are preggers!  The problem we had was not really fertility...just tied tubes so it made sense and our insurance covered most of the drugs and about $3500 of the procedure which helped.  I have 3 kids from a previous marriage and am remarried.  My new husband really treats my kiddos like his own but wanted more.  The whole IVF process is very different but worth it for us!  Good Luck!!!

Wow! That is great that the first round worked for you! Sometimes women have 3 and 4 and it doesn't work. Congrats! How far a long are you? I didn't have insurance to cover my tubal reversal so it costs us $6400 *up front* and we had to go out of state to get that price, Ohio is so expensive!

I know how lucky i am.  Once thing to check into for everyone is that some clinics participate in research studies approved and overseen by the FDA.  Our clinic was doing one but we were so anxious we couldn't wait and did it w/ insuance.  The studies are usually completely free and there are certain requirements for each one.  I know that w/ our clinic I was close to the age cut off.  Even w/ insurance ours cost us about $6k and it was about $12k total w/ drugs.  I am 5wks 1 day and will have my u/s at 7 weeks.  I would at least check into the studies since it's so darn expensive.  Good Luck!

My name is Misti and I am 30 years old and I had a tubal ligation in 1999 after my third child. After getting remarried in 2005 I decided I wanted to try the tubal reversal surgery. I was finally able to have the surgery! I had it just last week 10/19/07 by Dr. Mark Sanchez in Clearwater, FL. So, now I just have to play the waiting game and soon we an start TTC!

I had my reversal done in Mexico because it was MUCH cheaper and im a nurse so I did my research before going into it. I had it done in 2004 at the age of 38 and got pregnant 4 months later and am now trying tcc again.  (I have a beautiful  2 1/2 yr old daughter). My tubes had been tied for 13 years and I still had no problem. The only advice I have is...after the surgery wait at least 3 months to get preg. to prevent any ectopic pregnancies d/t the scar tissue and get a HSG done 3 months later to make sure that the tubes are clear. I got preg. the month after the HSG was done! Do your research before getting them untied and relax...It will all work out!

Hi, I posted a question about this too but didn't get any answers, I guess bcos it disappeared off the first page so fast!

I'm 44 and my partner is 36.  I have 2 grown up children but my partner doesn't have any.  I had a reversal last November 12 years after my sterilisation and so far haven't conceived.  I just had a HSG which showed that one of my tubes has healed back up, nad the other one doesn't look very good either.  My periods have also become more irregular (25-31 days) so my Dr has put me on Clomid, I took my first lot this month.  What I was wanting to know was about the progesterone test.  They wanted me to have this done next Monday but I can't get time off work (they don't know about this at work).  I just wondered how important it is.  Can't I just wait and see if I'm pregnant and if I'm not, maybe have the test done next cycle instead?  I really can't take any more time off this month, I already had to have 2 afternoons off for follicle scans and they wanted me to go back for another one but I just couldn't as the other girl in my office was on holiday.  I wasn't told at the start that I would need multiple scans.  Or maybe I just didn't take it in as I was so stunned about my tube healing back up!

Our Dr isn't very optimistic about our chances, and has suggested we consider egg donation if 6 months of Clomid don't work.  Has anyone been through this at all?

Im not in your situation yet, but I would definately go in for the progesterone test if you can. Not producing enough progesterone can make you infertile also.  When you have the reversal, were the lengths of the tubes still long?? I think that unfortunately at your age its going to be much for difficult to conceive also. (Im 42 and just began trying again). If you read the literature they say that at our age, its not going to be easy getting pregnant, and if we do become pregnant, almost 50% end up in miscarriage.  Im surprised they didnt put a "stent" into your tubes with the reversal. Where I had mine done at, they did that so that the tubes didnt "heal" together.  I would do all that you can do now , so it doesnt become "impossible".  My friend had "fertility" treatment and had to go in monthly for scans, and got pregnant and had twins without difficulty at 40, so it can be done.   Good Luck!  Terrie65

Terrie, I would never have thought of having a stent put in, but now that you mention it it sounds like the obvious thing to do!  My tubes were still quite long, in fact my Dr was really pleased afterwards and said the tubes looked great and he was very optimistic.  He seemed surprised when we went back last month that one of them had healed up.  When we went for the op he did say that there was only about a 40% chance of conceiving, and that there was a risk of miscarriage, but we decided it was worth trying.  Of course now I feel maybe I shouldn't have ever suggested it to my partner as I've got his hopes up for nothing!

I notice you had a HSG 3 months after the op, my dr said during the initial consultation that they used to do a routine HSG 6 months afterwards, but that they found that it wasn't a very good indicator as there was nothing to say the tubes wouldn't heal up later, and also it was another £350 which a lot of patients didn't want to pay out.  But I wish now I had had it done, at least if the tubes had already healed up we would have found out back then and not wasted another 4 months trying.

I was recommended to go to this particular hospital as they have a very good success rate compared to some other places, but I am starting to think that maybe there was more they could have done to help us.

Oh, I've missed the progesterone test, I was supposed to go this morning to get it done.  They only do it between 7 and 9 am, they figure that way people can pop in before work.  Fine if you live locally, but it's in London, and to get there at that time in the morning would take me about 2 hours, plus another 2 hours back again (London traffic is a nightmare, and public transport is too at that time of day!).  I can't take that much time off work this week.  I will have to ring them later and ask them what they want me to do.

I am 42 year old mother of six lovely children had my tube tie and is going to reverse my tube I have no doult in my mind that I won't get a next child  I know that I will because I have confident in my mind that I will so any lady out there that want to reverse don't matter about your age go for it I will and I know that I will conceive after I am not worry one bit I am in good health condition so good luck to all
