Diagnosed w/ FMS yesterday and scared to take Lyrica

Hi,
After many months of trying to discover what was wrong with me, a Rheumetologist finally diagnosed me. ( yaay, right?) I have Fibro... not happy about it, but at least I am not dying or anything. I still get to watch my kids grow up :) Evreything is just going to hurt. forever and ever?? ... :*(
Anyways, she prescribed me Lyrica. I have not picked it up from the pharmacy yet, cuz I'm a little afraid. I looked at the side effects on pfizer's web site.. and they are a little disconcerning. It seems like my Fatigue and Brain Fog, and overall feeling " ******" are going to be worse! Plus I am going to gain wieght? yuck... my nice body is all I have left!! I dont want to have fibro, and then get fat too... thats not going to make me feel better!! I also have depression, which lyrica can make worse. I really hope I dont get suicidal like some ppl do.... I have also had a brief history of drug abuse when I was a teenager. My doctor said this was a non-narcotic medication.. but it warns that this medicine can make u feel " high" and can be abused. I just do not know if this is going to work out... it's almost like I am trading in my chric pain for WEIGHT GAIN, MOOD SWINGS, BRAIN FOG, DEPRESSION, SUCIDAL THOUGHTS, AND ADDICTION. OH MY!!
If anyone with Fibro has taken Lyrica in the past, or is currently taking it please let me know you experiences. I don't necessarily trust what the doctors say is " safe"... It's hard to trust them anymore after I have seen about 20 of them trying to get a diagnosis and all they can say is " hmm I have no idea"
Any help / opinions / advice you have is greatly appreciated !!
