I have hypothyroidism and CFS and my pills for my thyroid barely make a difference.  I can kinda tell when I've missed a day or two of pills but nothing dramatic.  But I do not have fibro. So maybe Im not that great of an example. :(

di you try to surpress yout tsh down to under a 1 . or lower i read that is one of the things that works, that most doctors aren't giving you enough to let your body overcome the cfs/fibro.

I have CFS and hypothyroidism. I have been on thyroid medication for about 7 months now. I don't see any difference at all. In fact, I feel worse lately, although I don't blame the thyroid med for that. I was hoping it would help, but it hasn't.

IVE BEEN ON THYROID MEDS FOR 20 YEARS.NOW THEY SAY I HAVE FIBRO AND CFS.LOW B12-RLS.MRI SHOWS BRAIN LESIONS ON ONE SIDE..SAYS CANT BE MS,ITS ONLY ON ONE SIDE.MY ELTROXIN IS FINE HE SAYS...IN THE RITE LEVELS..BUT YOU MIGHT TRY AN ANIMAL OR ORGANIC MED INSTEAD OF SYTHETIC ONE.

I have been on .88 synthroid for Hoshimoto's for 10 years. Before hypothyroid, I had Graves disease with years of arrythmias. I was recently diagnosed with CFS.
PROBELM: My TSH has been crazy lately..anywhere from 5-10.( also sharp increase HDL, LDL and triglicerides (triglycerides)) Endocrinologist raised my dosage only slightly due to past history of arrythmias. He refuses to start me on Natrual Thyroid due more chances of arrythmias.
After 3 weeks on higher dose of synthroid, palpatations are starting.
Any info would be appreciated

Yes I have FMS, Hypothyroid,Goiter, Nodules on thyroid, depression. I didn't realize that these were connected. I have recently (about 6-8 mths) been on Deplin this helps the meds my Dr.s prescribe work. this med helps my body obsorb the meds. I do feel a little better. I am scheduled this Thurs. for appt. with Surgeon for the removal of thyroid. I have had  several surgeries before, I am just deathly afraid of this surgery. The thyriod controls so many different glands and areas of the body.

It sounds as though your levels are from one extreme to the other. You my need to tweak your meds slowly until you reach the correct level. Are you taking your meds at the same time daily?

Then Deplin is to make the antidepresants work better but not the thyroid meds. If you have hypo(low) thyroid..why is DR recommending that your thyroid be removed? Usually it is removed when it is hyper (Graves Disease) Did a DR ever tell you that nodules are usually common with having a hypo thyroid? Do you have Hashimotos? Did the biopsy of the nodules  come back and show your nodules are cancerous...is that why your thyroid is being removed?
Once your gland is remived then you will have to be on Synthroid (or a natural replacement) for the rest of your life.
I would get another opioion ASAP

Do your joints swell when you have fibro?  Can it happen to one hand and not the other?
Or one ankle and not the other? My doctor never sees the swelling when he sees me but when i stretch out my hands my knuckles always turn white..plus they are stiff and sore.

try natural tyroid med

by kitonthemoon, Dec 01, 2009 09:13AM
There're might be overlap in symptoms between the 3, but not the same.  I had ME/CFS and FMS for 16yrs, and only have hypo for the the past 2 yrs.  Hypo. meds doesn't improvve my symptoms of ME/CFS in any shape or form.

ME/CFS is a very complexed disease, the longer youre sick, the more chances something else goes wrong in your body for sure.

helps in 80 percent of people. try natural tyroid meds. optimize yourself . push up to highest levels. give ita shot.

by lvfrogs, Dec 02, 2009 06:44AM
I must be in the 20% that it doesn't help. It hasn't made a difference for me and actually, I have been feeling worse lately.
I hope it works for you!
