After midnight

After midnight

I have fibromyalgia and it seems that most nights I begin to feel better after midnight. Just wondering why. Is it hormones or something else?
Question is for the Professor but others are welcome to.

I sometimes wonder the same things. Usually when I am having these thoughts, however; I am having a painful flare-up of a joint that bothers me on a regular basis. You may need to talk to your doctor about adding a medication that will help you sleep. First your doctor will need to determine what's causing your insomnia- if it's pain or something else. Then he/she will know what to offer you. Fibromyalgia is very complex, so the doctor will have to be a bit of a detective to figure it out, but if you've got a good doctor, I am sure he/she will be able to help your insomnia. There are many medications out there to fight the problem. Good luck.

Questions for Dr. Nicholson, I believe, will get answered more quickly if you copy and paste it on the autoimmune expert site.

As far as feeling better after midnight, I think it may have to do with the fact that in some of us our cortisol level is out of wack.  I think our circadian rhythm is not the same as in the "normal" population.

Hope it helps,
K

I too feel better late at night, I have CFS and walk around like a zombie all day long, I have 3 kids my youngest is 11 months old, I think personally that after everyone is asleep my body sighs in relief, and I can relax and have more energy. I do regret it on some days the feeling is so great (feeling normal) that I stay up too late and pay for it the next day.
